Lou Dobbs Video is OLD News

My grandmotherly friend sent a “must see” video designed to stir everyone up into thinking immigration is going to take a seriously flawed and harmful turn under President Obama. It’s too bad the video is from 2007, and is referring to immigration under the Bush Administration. Nice try though my conservative friends. It’s almost as though they – the conservatives in America – believe we went straight from Bill Clinton to Barrack Obama, and some how there was no George W. Bush. I don’t blame them for wishing this, but wishing it don’t make it so.

If you’re interested in seeing this “must see” video, you may see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP1UQMd7VMw.

Remember this is from June of 2007, not February of 2009.

Who is the Most Corrupt Woman in America?

This morning I received another happy, go-lucky, email from an 80+ year old grandmother; a woman, who is part of the “greatest generation”; a woman who my family has known and loved for many years. What is it about this past election that makes otherwise good people send these things along?

Below is the email with my comments in red:

Let’s Recap–

1. The American people elect a black president with a total of 42 days experience as a U S Senator from the most politically corrupt state in America whose governor is ousted from office. The President’s first official act is to close Gitmo and make sure terrorists civil rights are not violated. {Here we go with the race card being played again. Is it really the fact that America elected someone with so “little” experience that concerns you? Or is it the fact that he’s black? Well, seems to me it’s primarily because he’s black. Yes, Virginia, there are still racists in America today.}

2, The U.S. Congress rushes to confirm a black Attorney General, Eric Holder, whose law firm we later find out represents seventeen Gitmo Terrorists. {“Congress rushes to confirm a black Attorney General.” Oh No! Not a black Attorney General! Once more Virginia, yes honey, there are still racists in America today; on the issue that “his” law firm represents 17 Gitmo “terrorists”. After checking numerous sources I couldn’t find a single credible reference to this. And even if his law firm had represented the 17 alleged “terrorist”, so what? Except for the extreme right wing of the Republican Party, i.e., Hannity, Limbaugh, Boortz, etc., fewer and fewer people think Gitmo was a great idea.}

3. The CIA Boss, Leon Penetta with absolutely no experience, has a daughter Linda we find out, that is a true radical anti-American activist who is a supporter of all the Anti-American regimes in the western hemisphere. {Gee, how do I say this? NOT TRUE! In fact the Accuracy In Media checked this so-called claim and reported this, “…reached by telephone in Philadelphia, Linda Panetta told Accuracy in Media that while she admires Leon Panetta and that there may be a distant family connection somewhere, he is not her father and that she has never even met him.

“Not only am I not his daughter, but unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of meeting this man who has done amazing work in his lifetime,” she said. “He and my father may have been second cousins,” she acknowledged, but under no circumstances is he her father.

Despite charges or information to the contrary, she has never claimed to be his daughter. She explained, “God rest my Dad’s soul. He was an incredible individual as well. I would never in my lifetime claim to be anybody’s daughter but my father’s.”

4. We got the most corrupt female in America as Secretary of State; bought and paid for. {Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt female in America? Sorry, but right off the top of my head I can think of several other  “females” in America who are more “corrupt” than Secretary of State Clinton.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (R), who allegedly misused her powers, and took us into the Troopergate scandal, followed by her billing Alaskan tax payers for personal needs, charging per diem while living at home, and then not paying more than $15,000.00 in taxes for it, and finally taking $150,000 from the RNC for her own wardrobe? I think Sarah had the top spot all locked up. But there are also some others to consider.

Mayor of Baltimore, the Honorable Sheila Ann Dixon (D), Mayor Dixon has reportedly been indicted on twelve counts, including perjury, theft, and misconduct. The charges stem partly from incidents in which she allegedly misappropriated gift cards intended for the poor.

Former New Mexico Congresswoman Heather Wilson (R), who was listed in 2007 as one of the top 22 most corrupt members of Congress; former Congresswoman Wilson allegedly used her position in Congress in an attempt to influence an ongoing Justice Department prosecution against Democratic politicos in New Mexico.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). Sen. Murkowski’s ethics violations stem from her purchase of land in Alaska, far below the market value, and her failure to accurately disclose the transaction in her 2006 financial disclosure report.

Former Florida Congresswoman Katherine Harris (R), who was listed as one of the 20 most corrupt members of Congress in 2006. Former Congresswoman Harris was mired hip deep in the MZM pay-for-play campaign funding scandal.

5. We got a Tax Cheat for Treasury Secretary who files his own taxes.{Yes, yes, yes, Secretary Geithner failed to pay all of his taxes. However, in a statement to the Senate panel considering his nomination, Geithner openly and willingly called the tax issues “careless”, “avoidable”, and “unintentional” errors, and he said he wanted to “apologize to the committee for putting you in the position of having to spend so much time on these issues.” Geithner further testified that he prepared his own tax return and that the tax errors were his own responsibility. Secretary Geithner has subsequently paid the IRS the additional taxes owed, and was charged $15,000 interest, which he also paid. At least he admitted he had screwed up, and he took responsibility for that mistake. Please refer to the reference for Governor Sarah Palin above, it seems we almost got a tax cheat for vice-president.}

6. A Commerce Secretary nominee who withdrew due to corruption charges.

7. A Tax cheat nominee for Chief Performance Officer who withdrew under charges.

8. A Labor Sec’y nominee who withdrew under charges of unethical conduct.

9. A Sec’y HHS nominee who withdrew under charges of cheating on his taxes.

{Fine, five people nominated with problems, four of whom withdrew their nominations. Let me show you a list of the individuals from the previous administration of President George W. Bush as compiled by Paul Kiel for the Autonomous Media Network.

These individuals were indicted, convicted or plead guilty:

1. Eric G. Andell – deputy undersecretary in charge of newly created Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (previously senior adviser to Secretary of Education Rod Paige) – pleaded guilty to one count of conflict of interest for using government travel for personal causes and was sentenced to one year of probation, 100 hours of community service, and fined $5,000.

2. Claude Allen – Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy- resigned, pled guilty to shoplifting from Target stores.

3. Lester Crawford – Commissioner, FDA – resigned in late September 2005 after only two months on the job. On October 17th, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts, making a false writing and conflict of interest. On February 27, 2007, Crawford was sentenced to two to three years of probation and was fined $90,000.

4 . Brian Doyle – Deputy Press Secretary, Department of Homeland Security – Resigned in wake of child sex scandal. Doyle was arrested on April 4th, 2006 and pleaded no contest on September 19, 2006 to seven counts of use of a computer to seduce a child and sixteen counts of transmitting harmful material to a minor. On November 17th, 2006 Brian Doyle was sentencedto five years in state prison and ten years of probation. He will also need to register as a sex offender.

* Steven Griles – Deputy Secretary at the Interior Department – is the highest-ranked administration official yet convicted in the Jack Abramoff scandal. In March 2007, Griles pleaded guilty to lying about his role in the Jack Abramoff scandal. Sentenced to 10 months incarceration.

* John T. Korsmo – Chairman of the Federal Housing Finance Board from 2002 to 2004 – pleaded guilty in 2005 to lying to the Senate and an inspector general. He swore he had no idea how a list of presidents for FHFB-regulated banks were invited to a fundraiser for his friend’s congressional campaign. On the invites, Korsmo was listed as the “Special Guest.” Got 18 months of probation and a $5,000 fine.

* Scooter Libby – Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff – resigned after being indicted for lying to a grand jury and investigators in connection with the investigation stemming from the leak of Valerie Wilson’s covert CIA operative’s identity. Convicted on four of five counts, making him the highest-ranking White House official to be convicted of a felony since the Iran-contra scandal. Sentenced to thirty months imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. On July 2nd, after a judge decided that Libby would remain in prison during the appeals process, President Bush commuted Libby’s sentence by removing the thirty months in prison.

* David Safavian – former head of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy at the Office of Management and Budget – convicted of lying to ethics officials and Senate investigators about his ties to lobbyist Jack Abramoff. On October 27, 2006, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. He is currently appealing the ruling.

* Robert Stein – former comptroller and funding officer for the now disbanded Coalition Provisional Authority, Southern Central Region in Al-Hillah, Iraq – pleaded guilty to conspiracy, bribery, conspiracy to commit money laundering, possession of a machine gun, and being a felon in possession of a fire arm. On January 30, 2007 Stein was sentenced to nine years in prison and ordered to forfeit $3.6 million.

* Roger Stillwell – desk officer, Interior Department – pleaded guilty to failing to report Redskins tickets and free dinners from Jack Abramoff.

Resigned Due to Investigation, Pending Investigation or Allegations of Impropriety

* Philip Cooney – chief of staff, White House Council on Environmental Quality – a former oil industry lawyer with no scientific expertise, Cooney resigned after it was revealed he had watered down reports on global warming.

* George Deutsch – press aide, NASA – resigned amid allegations he prevented the agency’s top climate scientist from speaking publicly about global warming.

* Michael Elston – chief of staff to Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty – announced his resignation on June 15, 2007. Despite allegations that he’d threatened at least four of the eight fired US Attorneys, McNulty said Elston had served the Justice Department “with distinction for nearly eight years.”

* Kyle Dustin “Dusty” Foggo – appointed executive director of the CIA, the agency’s third-highest post, in October 2004 – resigned and was ultimately indicted on bribery charges related to the Duke Cunningham scandal.

* Alberto Gonzales – former Attorney General – resigned without explanation amidst investigations of the firings of U.S. Attorneys, the politicization of the Justice Department, warrantless surveillance, and the torture and mistreatment of detainees.

* Monica Goodling – former Justice Department liaison to the White House and senior counsel to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales – resigned on April 7, 2007 amidst the investigation of the firings of U.S. Attorneys.

* Michelle Larson Korsmo – deputy chief of staff, Department of Labor – Helped her husband (see John Korsmo, above) with his donor scam. Quietly left her Labor plum job in February 2004, about two weeks before news broke that she and her husband were the targets of a criminal probe.

* Howard “Cookie” Krongard – former State Department inspector general — accused of not properly investigating State Department contractor fraud in Iraq and Afghanistan; of retaliating against whistleblowers in his own office; and of not telling the truth about his knowledge of his brother’s ties with Blackwater, a State Department contractor. Faced with a possible perjury investigation, Howard Krongard resigned on December 7, 2007.

* Julie Macdonald – former deputy assistant secretary for fish, wildlife and parks at the Interior Department – resigned in May 2007 after an “inspector general’s report found she had improperly leaked information to private organizations, bullied staff scientists and broken federal rules.” The Department of the Interior is investigating many of her decisions regarding endangered species; so far seven have been overturned.

* Paul McNulty – Deputy Attorney General for the Department of Justice – resigned, after questions about his involvement in the U.S. attorney firings and his testimony to Congress about the firings.

* Richard Perle – Chairman, Defense Policy Board – resigned from Pentagon advisory panel amid conflict-of-interest charges.

* Susan Ralston – assistant, White House – resigned amidst revelations that she had accepted thousands of dollars in gifts from Abramoff without compensating him, counter to White House ethics rules.

* Janet Rehnquist – inspector general, Department of Health and Human Services – resigned on June 1, 2003 in the face of an investigation into her alleged efforts to block a politically dangerous probe on behalf of the Bush family.

* James Roche – secretary, U.S. Air Force – resigned in the wake of the Boeing tanker lease scandal, after it was revealed he had rather crudely pushed for Boeing to win a $23 billion contract.

* Kyle Sampson -former chief of staff for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales – resigned amidst the investigation of the firings of U.S. Attorneys.

* Joseph Schmitz – Inspector General, Defense – Resigned amid charges he personally intervened to protect top political appointees.

* Bradley Schlozmanresigned from his third and final post with the Justice Department after accusations of actively politicizing the department. He’s currently under investigation by the Department’s inspector general.

* Thomas Scully – Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services – shortly after Scully resigned in 2003, an investigation by the Department of Health and Human Services inspector general found that Scully had pressured the agency’s actuary to underestimate the full cost of the Medicare reform bill by approximately $100 billion until after Congress passed the bill into law. Scully was also hit with conflict of interest charges by the U.S. attorney’s office for billing CMS for expenses incurred during a job search while he still headed the agency. He settled those charges by paying $9,782.

* David Smith – deputy assistant secretary for fish, wildlife, and parks, Interior Department – resigned on July 21, 2006 after shooting a buffalo and accepting its skeletal remains and meat as an illegal gratuity. He eventually paid over $3,000 for the dead buffalo, but only after the internal inquiry had commenced. The Department of Interior inspector general also noted in a May 16, 2006 report that Smith’s involvement in the designation of Houston as a port of entry for imported wildlife in order to benefit a friend was inappropriate.

* John Tanner – Voting Rights Section Chief, Justice Department – resigned in December of 2007 and moved to the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices. Already under suspicion for aiding efforts to politicize the voting section, the bumbling proponent of voter identification laws angered lawmakers with his comments that such laws actually discriminate against white voters because “minorities die first”. Even more impressive was his apology for the comment. The DoJ’s Office of Professional Responsibility is currently investigating his travel habits and those of his deputy.

* Sara Taylor – Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Political Affairs at the White House, where she was Karl Rove´s top aide – resigned amidst the U.S. attorneys investigation and other probes of Rove´s alleged politicization of the government.

* Ken Tomlinson – Board Chairman, Corporation for Public Broadcasting; member, Broadcasting Board of Governors – resigned at the release of an inspector general report concluding he had broken laws in spending CPB money to hire politically connected consultants to search for “bias” without consulting the board. At BBG, a separate investigation found he was running a “horse racing operation” out of his office, and continuing to hire politically-wired individuals to do “consulting” work for him. After being nominated and serving another term, he finally stepped down from that spot earlier this year.

* Carl Truscott – Director, Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Bureau – resigned. A report by the Justice Department’s inspector general found that Truscott wasted tens of thousands of dollars on luxuries, wasted millions on whimsical management decisions and violated ethics rules by ordering employees to help his nephew with a high school video project.

* Paul Wolfowitz – World Bank President – resigned in May 2007 after a committee report found that he broke ethics rules by giving his girlfriend a substantial raise.

Nomination Failed Due to Scandal

* Linda Chavez – nominated, Secretary of Labor – withdrew her nomination in January 2001 amidst revelations that an illegal immigrant lived in her home and worked for her in the early 1990s. Chavez blamed what she said were the “search-and-destroy” politics of Washington.

* Timothy Flanigan – nominated, Deputy Attorney General (also Alberto Gonzales’ top deputy at the White House) – withdrew his nomination in October 2005 amidst revelations that he’d worked closely with lobbyist Jack Abramoff when he was General Counsel for Corporate and International Law at Tyco, which was a client of Abramoff’s.

* Bernard Kerik – nominated, Secretary, Department of Homeland Security – withdrew his nomination amidst a host of corruption allegations. Eventually pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor relating to improper gifts totaling tens of thousands of dollars while he was a New York City official in the late 1990’s. Subsequently, on November 8, 2007, Kerik was indicted on sixteen counts for bribery, tax fraud, and false statements with a maximum sentence of 142 years and more than $5 million in fines. Kerik has pleaded not guilty. For a rundown of Kerik’s myriad indiscretions, check out TPM’s Ultimate Kerik Scandal List!.

* William Mercer – the former associate deputy attorney general and US Attorney for Montana – withdrew his nomination to be the permanent number three official at the Department of Justice on June 22, 2007 due to his role in the U.S. attorney firings.

* Hans von Spakovsky – Commissioner, FEC – nomination to another term after his recess appointment failed due to allegations that he’d worked at the Justice Department to suppress minority voter turnout.

Investigated at the end of the Bush Administration

* Stuart Bowen – Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR) – was once admired for his successes while investigating allegations of waste and fraud in Iraq, but now employee allegations have prompted four government investigations into the Office of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR).

* Lurita Doan – Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration – still in office, despite investigations by both the Office of Special Counsel and the House oversight committee that found that Doan had “crossed the line” by suggesting that the GSA use its resources to help Republicans get elected.

* Alfonso Jackson – Secretary of Housing and Urban Development – following reports that Jackson told a business group in April 2006 that he once canceled a contract after the contractor criticized President Bush, an investigation by the HUD inspector general found that while Jackson told his deputies to favor Bush supporters, there was “no direct proof that a contract was actually awarded or rescinded because of political affiliation.” A second, criminal investigation was triggered in part by Jackson’s claim before Congress in May 2007 that “I don’t touch contracts.” That probe, now before a federal grand jury, has turned up evidence that Jackson may indeed have touched contracts – and steered them towards friends.

I think I’ve made my point. Those who live in glass political houses should not cast stones.

Response to Kit Lange Diatribe

I was recently sent a copy of Kit Lange’s, My Predictions for the New Obama ‘Presidency’. I am not at all surprised that so many people think this is a legitimate “editorial” about President Barrack Obama’s Presidency, after all it reads exactly as Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly – you name them – sound everyday.

Ms. Lange is reportedly a veteran of the United States Air Force, for which service I would salute her; however as a veteran of the United States Military I need to say that not everyone who has served, or who is currently serving, agrees with this opinion. Accordingly I have attempted to respond to Ms. Lange’s diatribe below. The point-counterpoint includes Lange’s views (in black) and my replies (in red):

Now that America has shown us all that affirmative action even works in politics, {little hint of racism} I’ve compiled a list of things that you can probably expect to happen. These predictions are 80% gleaned from information all of us have access to, and 15% gut instinct based on many years of research, historical study, and being glued to current affairs. The other 5% is just anger at my countrymen’s stupidity – I admit it.

– Websites and mass emails offering “free grants,” courtesy of the government and “Obama’s wealth redistribution.” {Could find absolutely no evidence that these “mass emails” ever went out. Sounds a lot like a Senator standing before the assembled media, holding up a piece of paper in his hand and claiming it contained the names of known communists in the State Department.} Actually, this one’s a freebie, because I have an email with a date and time-stamp of literally minutes after Obama was declared the winner, offering exactly that.

-Israel will understand this election was the end of any type of assistance, military or otherwise, from the U.S. , and will stop holding back their defense at the request of the American administration. Look for a first strike on Iran soon, as well as increased activity by the Israeli military in general. Israel is on her own now, and God help us all because of it. {This is a complete unsubstantiated lie. In an interview with the Israeli daily news paper Haaretz, President Obama has said, “My view is that the United States’ special relationship with Israel obligates us to be helpful to them in the search for credible partners with whom they can make peace, while also supporting Israel in defending itself against enemies sworn to its destruction.”

“Israelis want more than anything to live in peace with their neighbors, but Israel also has real – and very dangerous – enemies,” Obama said.}

– Look for Iranian retaliation–against American targets. That goes doubly for other terrorist organizations. We just elected a man with the full endorsement of every major terrorist group in the world as leader of the free world. It’s the political equivalent of hiring a child molester to babysit your kids while you leave for the weekend. Not only is HE going to have fun with your child, but he’ll probably sit and watch while his friends come over and do it too. {Which groups endorsed him? Allegedly Hamas endorsed him, but this is what was actually said in the interview by Ahmed Yousuf, Hamas’ top political adviser in the Gaza Strip, in an interview with WorldNetDaily and WABC Radio in New York.

“We like Mr. Obama, and we hope that he will win the elections,” Yousuf said.

“I do believe [Obama] is like John Kennedy, a great man with a great principle. And he has a vision to change America, to [put] it in a position to lead the world community, but not with humiliation and arrogance.”

Doesn’t sound so much as a “political endorsement” as it does a hope for change from the heavy handed, “our way, no highway option”, foreign policy of the Bush presidency.

I couldn’t find any other reference to any other terrorist group “endorsing” President Obama.

On Iran, which Kit never goes any further on, President Obama has said, “The world must work to stop Iran’s uranium enrichment program and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It is far too dangerous to have nuclear weapons in the hands of a radical theocracy. And while we should take no option, including military action, off the table, sustained and aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions should be our primary means to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons.”

While we’re on the subject of terrorism, did President Bush ever get Osama Bin Laden?}

– Look for far-left justices appointed to the Supreme Court, effectively tying up the entire government in a trifecta of liberal humanism, the buzzwords of which remain empty platitudes like “hope and change,” and the ultimate goal of which is socialism–and soon, sharia law. {Why would President Obama, a Christian, ever bring in anything akin to Sharia law? Where has he ever said such a thing? No where. This is fear mongering at the very least, and really doesn’t deserve to be debated. Will President Obama appoint Justices that will be left of Justices President Bush appointed? Probably, but why is that a bad thing? Roe-v-Wade is established Constitutional law, and is not going to be overturned by any Supreme Court. Even most Christians support a woman’s right to have an abortion under conditions of rape, incest, and where the health of the mother is concerned. Do we want a Supreme Court that would take away even that right?}

– Military cases of troops being tried and convicted for killing the enemy in combat will continue to rise–and the conviction/plea – bargain rate will stay at nearly 100%, as the government seeks to use the best men and women this country has to offer as sacrificial lambs on the altar of global appeasement. Those brave and honorable men who currently reside in prison cells across the country, stripped of their rank, their careers, families, and their good name, will not taste free air again for many years. Their sacrifices and their stories will be forgotten by the general public, remembered only by those of us who continue to fight for them. {President Obama has been President for less than a month. Under which administration were these “brave and honorable men” accused, arrested, tried and imprisoned? That would be the administration President George W. Bush. I could find absolutely no evidence that would lead me – a commissioned officer in the United States Army – to believe that President Obama would continue the Bush Administration’s policies of accusing, arresting, convicting and imprisoning “brave and honorable men”, much less allow it to rise.}

– Look for the slow but steady erosion of rights you have enjoyed for your entire lives–all the while being told it’s “for your own good.” {You want to talk about a “slow but steady erosion of rights you have enjoyed for your entire lives”, how about the civil rights that were restricted under the Patriotic Act, or Habeas Corpus being ignored – unconstitutionally –by President Bush and his administration, or Republican Mitt Romney’s view that it would have been OK to wire tap Islamic houses of worship in the United States?}

Restrictions on gun ownership, {President Obama wants to restrict automatic weapons from the streets. Why does the average citizen in America need an automatic weapon? We’re talking a fully automatic weapon capable of sending hundreds or rounds per minute down range. Can’t think of why an average American would need a fully automatic M-16, SAW, M-60 etc. I’ve trained on these weapons, I’ve qualified on them, I know what they can do, Joe the Plumber doesn’t need one at home, I don’t need one at home, no one needs one at home.}

…home schooling, encouraged dependence on the ever-growing federal government. {And the evidence he would restrict homeschooling is where? No where. In fact, when I did my own research on this subject I discovered that he supports homeschooling, and that many homeschooling parents supported his nomination and election without fear of their rights to home school being restricted. One site, “The Homeschooling Mommy” which provides all kinds of support info to parent’s homeschooling their children commented, “While browsing the net today, I found out something very interesting. Barack Obama seems to support the choice of home schooling. Pardon me, if some of you have already discovered this, but I thought it was definitely worthy of sharing. Here’s where I found the info: http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post_group/NewHampshireEducatorsforObama/CJxd Obama has always been my first choice. Now he has given me yet another reason to vote for him come the 2008 election.”

More nanny-state provisions will be put into place to protect the “disadvantaged” and the “poor,” (read: lazy, uneducated, unwilling to better themselves) {again sounding a bit racist} even while groups like the unborn, the mentally handicapped, elderly, and terminally ill are slowly pushed toward euthanasia. Of course, this will be done with feel-good phrases like “death with dignity,” “not wanting to be a burden,” and “merciful release from suffering,” all of which ignore the basic fact that we are killing people without their consent for the “good of the people.” Before you tell me I’m crazy, let’s just remember that Barack Obama was the ONLY senator in the Illinois state senate to vote against providing medical care for babies who were inconsiderate enough to survive an abortion. {Then Senator Obama voted against the bill because it was a bill that would restrict a woman’s right to choice, not just to provide medical funding to help babies who survived late term abortions.}

Also, look for taxes to go up. Yes, they’ll go up. {For eight years the previous administration of President George W. Bush prosecuted a War on Terror that has cost more than $4,000,000,000.00 (trillion) dollars while cutting tax revenues to the federal government. While the War on Terror was certainly warranted and justified, the fact that our country got mired in Iraq, which has cost $3,000,000,000.00 of the $4 trillion, without raising taxes, has effectually bankrupted our nation. You can’t spend $4 trillion dollars without raising income. And while President Bush was spending $4 trillion, and not raising taxes, he failed to increase funding for our nation’s roads, bridges, railroads, airports, schools, libraries, hospitals, etc. Now the bill has come due. Yes, President Obama will no doubt have to raise taxes, but mostly because the last Administration wanted to have its cake and eat it too.}

– You think the economy is bad now? Just wait. You’ll have the most expensive “free” health care ever. Bread lines aren’t just for Russians anymore. {An economy driven into the ground by the failed policies of the last eight years; which has given our country the largest expansion of the Federal Government ever, coupled with the largest Federal deficit ever.}

We have traded experience for color, freedom for slavery – and the irony is that the average American sheeple thinks their vote somehow righted an ancient wrong, somehow ENDED the specter of slavery and ushered in some beautiful era of liberty. {I’m just a simple guy who happened to grow up in the south hearing racist comments all of the time, and this is a racist commentary. I did not vote for President Obama because he was black. Or because I felt I needed to somehow correct the “specter of slavery”. I voted for him because I could not continue to support the failed policies of President George W. Bush. I could not continue to support an Administration that had prosecuted an illegal war based on half truths and lies, and that allowed my brothers and sisters in uniform to be used as thugs and bullies. I can no longer say, “American soldiers don’t torture prisoners.” Of course if you’ve never bothered to serve, or to swear an oath to protect and defend, or buried buddies who have died in combat, or later committed suicide because they couldn’t live with themselves any more, than you couldn’t begin to understand why I voted the way I did.}

…In reality, we are about to be less free than you ever thought possible. {This has already been addressed.}

I watched the faces of those crowded into the mob (excuse the pun) in Chicago. They stared at Obama like he was a god, an idol, a panacea to their every want and need. We have truly failed as a nation if we are at the point where we feel we must look to one man to take care of us all, to be our father figure and our sugar daddy. We have lost not only the “can-do” attitude of past generations, but the “MUST-do” attitude of our forefathers. We have allowed ourselves to become reduced from Patrick Henry’s proud cry of “liberty or death” to the sniveling, whining idea that we are owed something. We have gone from being the honorable defenders of freedom, to being told we are the problem. {After eight years of President George W. Bush’s administration people were relieved. Pure and simple; here was a chance for America to start over. Unfortunately, Airman Lange’s idea of “the honorable defenders of freedom” has lost its luster because of the Bush administration’s policies. Because of places like GITMO, and Abu Ghraib, places where Jefferson’s ideas of “all men being created equal” were spat upon. Where people were tortured and humiliated, in the name of the American Ideal. My father, my father-in-law and others of the “greatest generation” fought against governments who treated prisoners like this. It was difficult to conceive of an America where common decency and honor no longer had a place. Perhaps now it will once again}

The eyes of Obama and McCain were also telling. McCain acted with class and grace in his concession speech, offering the most honorable response I’ve seen yet. I don’t agree with all of McCain’s positions, but it cannot be denied that the man has served his nation, at permanent and severe detriment to himself, for half a century. His eyes were clear and sincere, honest. His speech underlined the very reasons why, of the two men offered, he was hands down the best choice. {Senator McCain has served his country well and faithfully, but he was not the best choice. To continue four more years of failed foreign and domestic policies was not the better choice. To support four more years of torture, and the slow erosion of human liberties that we supposedly “hold to be self evident” was not the better choice. I too watched Senator McCain’s concession speech. He was magnificent. The crowd however, booed and acted shamefully when the Senator mentioned his opponent. Not a reaction I want to be associated with. Senator McCain is a hero. That doesn’t mean he should have been President. His choice of Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate firmly shoved me into President Obama’s camp. She was not only unqualified, but was a pathetically transparent attempt to sway woman voters to vote for McCain. She was the best, most highly qualified, conservative woman Senator McCain could find? This – to me – spoke volumes about his own abilities to be President.}

On the other hand, Obama’s eyes were cold, calculating. His manner was smug and still carried the arrogance he has always had. His facial expression was one of barely disguised disdain for everything people like me believe in. His body language was smooth, polished, too much so. He talked of patriotism as though it is a value he is familiar with, and yet, his horrifying attitude toward the country he now leads is as well-documented as his friendships with those who seek its demise. {Oh no he pals around with terrorists! Not true; in fact, not only documented, but well-documented as not true. President Obama served on a board with someone who allegedly committed criminal acts during an extremely unpopular war; acts for which, in 1973, the Federal Government requested the dismissal of the charges against him. Note, the charges were dismissed at the request of the Federal Government. I also have watched President Obama speak, as I also watched Senator McCain speak. I also watched each and every debate between the two. I saw nothing of what the author speaks. President Obama did not speak in any way that she – or any other veteran, or currently serving member of the military should take as “disdain for everything people like me believe in”. Who exactly are the people like Ms. Lange?}

He is charismatic to those who don’t know what to look for, {like an aircraft mechanic; is this standard aircraft mechanic training in the Air Force now? Guess I somehow missed the “anti-charismatic training.} and he is inspiring to those who cannot or will not think for themselves. {I made by decision to vote for President Obama not based upon his charisma, nor because – thank you very much – I can’t think for myself. As compared to the legions of “ditto-heads” who make up their minds based on this kind of hate-filled vitriolic prose, filled with half-truths and innuendo.}

However, too many who voted for him are guilty of the most dangerous kind of hypocrisy. You see, we are told daily that we must not see color, just mankind. (We are all family, you know, or so we’re told.) {Again, comments that are sounding more than a little racist in my opinion.}

And yet Barack Obama was handed the White House on a silver platter by a fawning media, a bevy of foreign donors (who, to this day and in violation of U.S. election laws, remain nameless and unaccounted for), and a populace who voted based on color instead of right and wrong, even in the face of the most damning evidence against a Presidential candidate in many years, perhaps ever. {Voted based on color? Ms. Lange just doesn’t get it. George W. Bush gave Senator Barrack Obama the White House, not the color of President Obama’s skin. Hate-filled, fear mongering, gloom and doom right wing talk radio handed President Obama the White House. President Reagan – a self-proclaimed FDR Democrat – used to say, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.” I feel the same way about my Republican Party. If Limbaugh, Hannity and Lange are the example of the modern Republican Party, than all I can say is the GOP is no longer the party of Ronald Reagan; it’s becoming the party of David Duke.}

It is said that the people receive the government they deserve. Sadly, I fear that’s correct. We have become complacent, unwilling to see the writing on the wall, content to frolic in the warm water without bothering to notice that it’s been getting hotter by the minute. We are two seconds from a rolling boil, and perhaps it is already too late. So, liberals, enjoy your victory. Jump around. Have a party, file for your free grants. Scream “Gimme my handout!” and make fun of those of us who fought to make sure your “messiah” didn’t get access to the most powerful position in the world. Just remember when it all comes crashing down: You own the White House, the Congress, and soon the Supreme Court. You have no one to blame but yourselves for the mess you just created. {It’s strange that only the right-wing “conservative” talk show types have ever referred to President Obama as the “Messiah”. I have never thought of him in this way, and nor would I. Again, as said above, the GOP has no one to thank for President Obama’s victory except for President George W. Bush, Vice-President Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and now it would appear Kit Lange.}

As for me, I’m buying my handguns this week so I have an answer for those who will come try to take them. {What? She didn’t already own any guns?}
