Tea Party Audience Boos American Soldier?

The Huffington Post is reporting that President Obama took aim at Republicans yesterday while speaking at a fundraiser in Silicon Valley, sharing his reaction to the audience at a recent GOP presidential debate booing a gay soldier who had asked a question about “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

“You’ve got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don’t have health care and booing a service member in Iraq because they’re gay.”

“That’s not reflective of who we are,” the President said. “This is a choice about the fundamental direction of our country. 2008 was an important direction. 2012 is a more important election.”

During the Fox News/Google GOP debate last week, Stephen Hill, a gay soldier in Iraq, said he had to “lie about who [he] was” to serve in the military up until the recent repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” In his recorded question, he asked the GOP presidential hopefuls if they would work to walk back the recent change in policy. When the question was presented to the candidates participating in the event, several members of the uber-conservative white bread Christian Tea Party audience booed loudly, and then cheered very loudly when Ricky Santorum said he’s repeal the recent over turning of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell by the Obama Administration.

This is what the GOTP is; they hate the elderly and disabled who live off of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid; they hate illegal aliens who supposedly take away jobs from white Americans; and most of all they hate homosexuals and lesbians, that’s why they booed an American soldier serving in harm’s way. They – the Bible thumping, Constitution loving, conservatives booed an American soldier. Why should that surprise anyone? They cheered the news of 234 executions in Texas; they jeered the reference to a hypothetical patient dying with no health insurance, and now they boo an American soldier. They’re hypocrites. They’re not Americans, and they’re not Christians.

McCain Says Repealing DADT is a Very Sad Day?

When he took to the floor of the United States Senate shortly before the historical vote to end the military’s “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” policy, SEN John McCain cried out in anger, “Today is a very sad day,” and announced, “There will be high-fives over all the liberal bastions of America,” from “the elite schools that bar military recruiters from campus” to “the salons of Georgetown.”

As someone who has served for more than 20 years, having moved from the ranks through company commander, this is not a “very sad day”, it is a day long over due. Whether you support the homosexual/lesbian lifestyle or not, this has been a disastrous policy which has hurt – not helped – our military. Millions of dollars have been spent to train troops and then to discharge them. Discharge them, not because they’re wounded or can’t perform their duties, but because they’re gay. How does that make any sense, fiscal or otherwise?

Those – including McCain –  opposed to the decision have been using, and continue to use, the same tired arguments espoused before desegregation of the military. They claim that it will cost the military recruiting numbers, that straight young men and women will not join now because they’ll be serving with “those people”. Some right-wing gas bags like Rush Limbaugh have claimed it will be necessary to reinstate the draft to fill quotas. Of course Rush also claimed the President was taking over the car industry.

Face it Senator, and everyone else who is afraid some “homo” will be scoping you out, there have been gays and lesbians, serving, fighting, bleeding and dying for as long as we’ve had armed forces. This is not the end of the military, nor is the beginning of the end of the republic.

Senator Brown Supports Repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’?

Well, this has got to be making the Tea Party crowd go apoplectic now doesn’t it?

It is refreshing to see that at least one GOP Senator has the guts and common sense to do the right thing here. You can think – or believe – what you want about homosexuality, and the gay and lesbian lifestyle; however, gays and lesbians serving openly in the military is not going to affect how our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines perform their sworn duties to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Army, Marine chiefs cast doubt on gay service?

“If the law is changed, successfully implementing repeal and assimilating openly homosexual Marines into the tightly woven fabric of our combat units has strong potential for disruption at the small unit level, as it will no doubt divert leadership attention away from an almost singular focus of preparing units for combat,” the Marine commandant, Gen. James Amos, told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Come on General. Really?

Why didn’t you say what you were really thinking, “Plus, I have a big problem with taking a shower with other Marines knowing who might be sizing me up,” Gen Amos added, “I enjoy my showers much more when I don’t know who might be sizing me up, it’s much more exciting, the suspense is quite literally over the top!”

Gen Amos, Gen Casey and Sen McCain are all bigots. No other way to say it.

“… successfully implementing repeal and assimilating openly homosexual Marines into the tightly woven fabric of our combat units has strong potential for disruption at the small unit level, as it will no doubt divert leadership attention away from an almost singular focus of preparing units for combat.” I ask again, really?

What is disruptive numb nuts is having to waste time and money breaking up units by dismissing highly  trained and dedicated troops during a time of war because bigoted homophobic morons like yourself, Gen Casey and Senator McCain are insecure about your own sexuality.

Note to all three of you: It’s time for you fossils to step down. We are living in a new era when our Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors are not intimidated by who is or who is not gay.

John McCain Questions Pentagon ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ Report?

Presidential Candidate McCain said he would listen to the military on the question of ending Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, now he’s changed his mind. One more example of why he should retire and just go away.

McCain calls study on gays in military flawed?

And my friends, this is a man who really gets flawed decision making … for example his choice of a running mate in 2008 …
