McCain puzzled?

Former Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidate Senator John McCain, AZ, says he’s “puzzled” with all the controversy surrounding remarks he made suggesting illegal immigrants were responsible for some of the massive wildfire in eastern Arizona.

Wow, really? You’re puzzled? Tell us something we didn’t know. We’ve still puzzled over your choice of Sarah Palin as your running mate.

When McCain later appeared on NBC’s “Today” show he tried to explain that all he was doing was repeating information he’d been given by federal officials earlier that day at a briefing.

McCain said, “We all know that people who come across our border illegally … that these fires are sometimes, some of them, caused by this.” He said “I’m puzzled … that there should be any controversy.”

McCain earlier had said that illegal immigrants “have set fires because they wanted to signal others … and they have set fires because they wanted to divert law enforcement agents.”

And after making these statements he’s confused at the reaction of the public? This is one of two things; first, the Senator’s ignorant of the mood of the country, and more particularly his home state regarding illegal immigrants; or second, this was a typical far right conservative racial stereo-type in an attempt to blame another group for the country’s troubles.

So far “illegal” aliens are responsible for kidnappings, beheadings, prostitution, gun running, an increase of criminal activities, destroying the economy, tornadoes in the Midwest, hurricanes in the Atlantic and now starting forest fires.

When you start to blame one particular racial minority you’re setting the stage for public reaction – both violent and non-violent – against that group. You begin to pass laws against that particular group, and you begin to not only prosecute them, but to persecute as well. That’s why people were upset about your comments Senator. It appears you’re comments might have been made to further enrage, and possibly even to insight conservatives; and they were wrong.

If you’re truly “puzzled” about them, then perhaps it’s time for you to retire Senator. You’re either out of touch, or you’re deliberately making racially charged statements in order to score cheap political points.

Many Republicans “not impressed” with 2012 field

According to recent poll numbers 40%, four in ten, of voters identifying themselves either as Republicans Tea Party (GOTP) or those leaning towards the conservative end of the political spectrum are saying they’re not pleased with their current choices in the GOTP presidential field.

When asked to describe the current group of candidates, 37 percent of respondents said they were “not impressed” or “unimpressed” with the GOTP hopefuls.

The more damaging for the “wannabees” is that 48 percent of Independents described the GOTP candidates negatively while just 10 percent offered a positive one-word description. To win the White House in 2012 the GOTP candidate must win a large number of Independents.

While the general dissatisfaction is not likely to cause a drop of GOTP voter support, it could very well hurt whoever comes out on top of the heap when needing to woo the Independent voters essential for defeating the President.

President Obama is the young, intelligent, animated and dynamic candidate. Whoever opposes him better be able to stand toe to toe on at least three of those items, and the current group maybe can match up on one, or two. In other words, the current group of GOTP hopefuls has been weighed; they have been measured; and they have been found lacking.

Romney Jokes to Unemployed About Being Out of Work?

Flopsy Mopsy (aka Mitt Romney), the once presumptive Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidate, told a group of out-of-work Floridians that “I’m also unemployed.”

Wow, really? What a totally sensitive thing to say, especially to a group of unemployed people.

Only a thoughtless conservative, worth hundreds of millions of dollars, could say something like this. You know, like poor little unemployed Flopsy Mopsy.

Flopsy was trying to be all homey, visiting with a small group of business owners and unemployed workers criticizing President Obama at a Tampa coffee shop. While attacking the President, millionaire Mopsy told the group that although he was currently “unemployed”, he did have his eye on one particular job.

Florida’s April unemployment rate was 10.8 percent, higher than the national rate of 9 percent. But wait, isn’t Florida being run by a GOTP Governor, and isn’t the State Senate and the House both controlled by the GOTP? So, how can the state’s unemployment rate be higher than the national level?

Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said “This comment shows that Mitt Romney – a man who wants for nothing and whose only occupation for more than four years has been to run for president – is incredibly out of touch with what’s going on in our country and around the dinner tables of those who are out of work,” she said. “Being unemployed, Mr. Romney, is not a joke.”

Perhaps, for Mopsy, this will be his Bush 41 moment. Remember? When the President’s handlers thought it would be great for him to go out shopping, and he didn’t know stores had scanners which could read the prices of the items. It was his rich man out of touch with every day life moment, and it helped lead to his defeat against upstart Bill Clinton.

Flopsy is trying to be a just another Joe, but being a millionaire, and joking about unemployment doesn’t ring true. It’s like everything else about him; nothing ever seems to ring true where Mitt is concerned.

Bachmann Enters the GOTP Race?

The Mad Hatter of Minnesota, Representative Michele Bachmann (aka Krazy) has decided it’s time for some “crazy” to be thrown into the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) race for the White House.

Krazy, who not surprisingly has very close ties to the tea party, announced today during the so-called CNN GOTP Presidential Debate that she is running for president.

“Our country needs a leader who understands the hardships that people across America have been facing over the past few years, and who will do what it takes to renew the American dream. We must become a strong and proud America again, and I see clearly a better path to a brighter future,” Bachmann said in a statement issued through her new campaign.

Well, actually Krazy what America needs is leaders who actually know the country’s history; for example where Lexington and Concord are.

During a recent visit to New Hampshire, clutching a tea bag in her hand, Krazy told a group of students and conservative activists in Manchester, New Hampshire: “You’re the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord.”

And of course, who can forget when Krazy announced –during a press conference at a Freedom Watch symposium titled “National security, freedom, and Iran – is it time for U.S. and Western intervention?” – her support for The People’s Mujahideen Organisation of Iran (PMOI, also known as the MEK), saying that it should be removed from the U.S. State Department list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

Funny how Krazy claims to love America, but she supports the removal of a terrorist group from the list which protects us from terrorist groups; the U.S. State Department has said the PMOI assassinated at least six U.S. citizens as part of the struggle to overthrow the Shah, backed the takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran and opposed freeing U.S. hostages. The U.S. government designated the PMOI a “terrorist” organization in 1997.

Yeah, she’s just the lunatic we need running the country.

Santorum enters 2012 White House race?

Former Republican Tea Party (GOTP) Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is setting up a fundraising committee allowing him to take those crucial baby steps toward a 2012 presidential campaign.

Santorum, who significantly lacks the name recognition and fundraising organization of his better-known rivals, is a favorite among the right wing of the GOTP primarily because of his anti-gay and anti-abortion stands. He recently claimed America’s Social Security funding issue was due to too many abortions in America.

“It’s time for America to be America again — an America that rewards innovation and hard work, that stands by our allies instead of our enemies, that protects even the most vulnerable of our society, and an America that says every life is to be cherished,” Santorum told supporters in an email that was sent as he announced his plans on Fox News Channel. “That’s what I believe in and that’s why I’m taking this next step in a possible run for president.”

It’s time for America to be America again? What country have we been? Or is this a new twist on the same old theme, “We’ve got to take America back”?

Of course, “an America that rewards innovation and hard work” is Tea Party code for “we’ve got to continue tax cuts for the wealthy and cut social spending to those welfare queens driving Cadillacs”.

“… an America that stands by our allies instead of our enemies”. Is Tea Party code for, “… an America where we bomb first and ask questions later, an America where we tell our allies, ‘It’s our way or the highway.’”

And,  “… an America that protects even the most vulnerable of our society, and an America that says every life is to be cherished,” is the Holy Grail for the far right wing religious fringe which bases all of its voting decisions on abortion; so, woman, don’t even think of having an abortion in Santorum’s America. If you’re raped, too bad! If you might die having that baby, too bad! There are no abortions in Santorum’s America, no matter what!

On Gay and Lesbian issues Santorum made headlines in 2003 when he declared, “If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything.”

After taking a lot of heat for his avowal, Santorum released a statement, wherein he did not dispute the accuracy of the quote, but criticized the AP and the “liberal” media for “misleading” the story.

“I am a firm believer that all are equal under the Constitution,” he said. “My comments should not be construed in any way as a statement on individual lifestyles.”

But, wait for it, according to unedited excerpts of the taped interview released the same day, by The Associated Press, Santorum spoke at length about homosexuality, and he made clear he did not approve of “acts outside of traditional heterosexual relationships.”

His views on both abortion and homosexuality are based on his Christianity, and that’s what is the most troubling about candidates like Santorum. It’s this attitude that pushing one’s so-called far right Christian values into the arena of public office is OK, but no one else’s views are permitted. For candidates like Santorum there is no separation between Church and State, unless you’re a Muslim. For the far right Christians of the Tea Party movement Islamic Sharia law is abhorrent, but Christian Sharia law is fine. Fortunately, Santorum’s appeal is fairly limited to the far right, and that areas already pretty crowded with Palin, Bachmann and Huckleberry.

John Boehner, ‘No Daylight between Tea Party and Me’

Besides the obvious innuendos, jokes and cartoons that will be drawn from the House Speaker’s statement, what exactly was he trying to do, say, imply, or?

Well, clearly John Boehner, Republican Tea Party (GOTP) Congressman – OH, covets an overwhelming majority of votes from his right wing colleagues so as to keep his seat as Speaker of the House, a rather tenuous position, rumored to be endangered by none other than his right hand man Eric Cantor (GOTP) – VA.

But, by claiming to be so close to the Tea Party – to the point where there’s “no daylight between” them – he is not only pushing his party ever closer to the far right side of lunacy, but also towards possible loss of majority control in 2012, and thus pushing himself into becoming a one term speaker; the latter of course, if he survives the rumored coup challenge.

How does the opposition feel about Boehner’s new love interest?

“The Republican leadership has a Tea Party screaming so loudly in its right ear, that it can’t hear what the vast majority of the country demands,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said this week. When asked if Republican leaders were “afraid of the movement,” he replied, “… the answer is yes”.

And that shrill screaming is becoming more and more tedious with each news cycle, pushing the so-called revolutionary Tea Party closer and closer to foot note status in some future political science text book.

While “our way or the highway” might work with prom dates in Wasilla, it’s becoming worn and tired with a majority of Americans recently polled, and Boehner is taking a huge political risk by primping so hard to be that date.

Santorum claims abortion is to blame for social security woes?

Grand Old Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopeful Rick Santorum, during his latest trip to New Hampshire, was asked about the status of the country’s social security system in an interview on WESZ-AM. He replied the system would be in much better shape if there were fewer abortions.

While admitting the system has flaws, he says the real reason social security is in big trouble is there aren’t enough workers to support retirees. He blamed the lack of workers on the “nation’s abortion culture”,  claiming it’s that culture, coupled with policies that do not support families; that are denying America what it needs — more people.

Wow. Really Rick? America’s social security is allegedly in trouble because there have been too many abortions? How about maybe there isn’t enough tax being taken from those who can afford it? Maybe the fact the wealthy only pay social security on a small percentage of their income each year and yet draw full benefits when they retire has something to do with it? Why not require the top 2% of the population to pay its taxes, rather than continue to give it tax breaks? But on no, that would be far too easy; instead we have to appeal to the far right religious fanatics of the GOTP, and instead of offering solutions to a perceived problem we have to create excuses. Maybe you can help the GOTP take our country back to that simpler time when woman were men’s property, and were expected to simply stand bare foot and pregnant in the kitchen? Are there no serious conservative contenders for the presidential nomination? No, instead it appears we have another nut ready to be gathered into the Tea Party nest.

Top 10 Worst Things about the Republican Budget?

The GOTP is not, repeat NOT, a friend to students, teachers, woman, the poor, or most especially to our country’s veterans … cutting in half the vouchers being given to vets to prevent homelessness. Once again they send soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen to fight, and then stab them in the back! This is a disgrace! But everyone who voted for the GOTP in November, you go ahead and continue to sleep warm and comfy in your beds while vets are under bridges, they didn’t do anything for you.

This is the hypocrisy of the right, plain, simple and out in the open. Our nation spends $2 BILLION DOLLARS per week in Iraq and Afghanistan! $2 BILLION DOLLARS! They – the GOTP – continue to cater to the upper 2% of the population providing them with tax cuts which would have provided billions of dollars to the nation’s coffers, all while cutting education programs, gutting NPR and Public television, taking away food and medical help from millions of woman and children – including prenatal care – and screwing our vets!

Notice, however, there are no defense cuts. We don’t want to upset the military industrial complex, we’ll pay them their billions and then screw the troops for serving their country. This is a disgrace!

NEVER again will I vote for a Republican! NEVER AGAIN! Not if this is what the party of Reagan has become.

The Republican budget would:

1. Destroy 700,000 jobs, according to an independent economic analysis.

So, this is what the GOTP meant about jobs bills, and taking care of jobs in America …

2. Zero out federal funding for National Public Radio and public television.

Yeah, here’s the GOTPs version of the fairness doctrine. They – the GOTP – only want the country hearing Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck. No more programming questioning what they’re doing …

3. Cut $1.3 billion from community health centers–which will deprive more than three million low-income people of health care over the next few months.

I can hear Ebenezer whispering in Boehner’s ear now, “If they had rather die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population!” This is the GOTP health care plan for America, only the strong and rich will survive in their new America. Can’t afford health care? Too bad!

4. Cut nearly a billion dollars in food and health care assistance to pregnant women, new moms, and children.

As Reagan – the GOTP hero of heroes would no doubt intone – All those welfare queens in their caddies suckling from the nation’s breasts. You’re done! Go get jobs! Go beg! But we’re not helping you anymore!

I’m confused? Isn’t this the party that prides itself on America being a “Christian” nation? Wasn’t there something about taking care of the poor, and how it would easier to put a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven?

5. Kick more than 200,000 children out of pre-school by cutting funds for Head Start.

The GOTP is tired of taking care of your snot nosed kids. If you can’t afford pre-school then too bad! Your kids aren’t worth it! You’re poor! Send your kids out to beg, like in other countries!

6. Force states to fire 65,000 teachers and aides, dramatically increasing class sizes, thanks to education cuts.

The GOTP hates teachers, and it hates public education. The Governor of Wisconsin, Limbaugh, Hannity et al, have been screaming about the lousy teachers getting rich doing nothing all day! No more!

7. Cut some or all financial aid for 9.4 million low- and middle-income college students.

According to Boehner and friends, if you can’t afford college you shouldn’t be there! Why should the rest of us pay for your college education! Go dig ditches, or beg or something. Who are you to think you could better yourself?

8. Slash $1.6 billion from the National Institutes of Health, a cut that experts say would “send shockwaves” through cancer research, likely result in cuts to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s research, and cause job losses.

Once again Scrooge is speaking from the pages of literature through the GOTP, “If they’d rather die …” If you’re not wealthy enough to afford health care in Boehner’s America then you should just die. It’s a very simple health care plan. Those who can afford it survive. Those who cannot afford it? Too bad.

9. End the only federal family planning program, including cutting all federal funding that goes to Planned Parenthood to support cancer screenings and other woman’s health care.

The GOTP doesn’t care about poor woman, just about their own wives, mistresses and daughters. If you die giving birth to your welfare child, who cares? Not Boehner and company.

10. Send 10,000 low-income veterans into homelessness by cutting in half the number of veterans who get housing vouchers this year.

Boehner – who washed out of Navy basic training – could care less. Typical GOTP attitude. Claim to love America, drive around with your “support the soldiers” magnetic yellow ribbon on your car, and then knife them in the back once they’ve fought, and bled for you.

This is a disgrace …
