According to news reports, freshman Republican Tea Party (GOTP) Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA) (Joseph McCarthy High School Class of 2012) is evidently campaigning for his second term through fear, gloom, doom and despair claiming if re-elected President Obama will reveal sensitive information relating to national security.
Fitzpatrick, one of the main Tea Party favorites was caught on video at a fundraiser last week telling supporters why Obama should not be re-elected.
“Finally the third reason is … the things that the president may do in a second term,” Fitzpatrick says in the video. “When he left the microphone on in Russia, we all heard what he said … left unrestrained, without the inhibitions of the next election — he’d have flexibility, he said, flexibility to do what he wants to do. Whether it’s trade away … the secrets of our national intelligence, to, what he could do to the United States Supreme Court in the next four years.”
The President has of course done nothing that would lead any “rational” – and that’s the key word – individual to believe he would in any way “trade away” America’s national security to Russia or anyone else; Fitzpatrick’s one of the new conservative breed swept into office through fear mongering, and who hopes to stay there using the same methods. Fitzpatrick’s one of those conspiracy nuts – like Allen West – who when they slip into office you seriously want to take a look at their constituents are and ask them if they were dropped – repeatedly – as children.
According to news reports Russian President Dmitry Medvedev responded to Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential frontrunner Willard Mitt Romney and his fellow political comedians (also known as GOTP presidential candidates) saying they need to flip their calendars out of the Cold War and stop making Russia out to be America’s “No. 1 enemy.”
“I always get very cautious when I see a country resort to phrasings such as ‘No. 1 enemy.’ It is very reminiscent of Hollywood in a certain period of history,” Medvedev said, through a translator, at the nuclear security summit in Seoul, South Korea.
He also said presidential candidates need “to listen to reason when they formulate their positions,” adding, “Reason never harmed a presidential candidate.”
The Russian President was responding to questions from the press about Romney’s declaration that Russia was “without question, our No. 1 geopolitical foe,” after an “open mic” incident involving Medvedev and President Barack Obama.
“My other advice is to check their clocks from time to time,” Medvedev said. “It is 2012, not the mid-1970s. No matter what party a candidate represents, he has to take the current state of affairs into account.”
Medvedev is exactly right, the GOTP candidates – particularly Romney – need to stop acting like its 1980 and the “Evil Empire” still exists; Romney’s in no way Ronald Reagan, and he really needs to stop running as though he were; of course it would help if his audience would also come into the 21st century.
The Associated Press (AP) is reporting soon-to-be one term House Speaker John Boehner says his relationship with President Barack Obama has grown “a little frosty.”
Wow, really? His “relationship” with the President has grown “a little frosty”? First of all Mr. Speaker, you have to have had a relationship with someone before it can grow “frosty”; second, refer back to the first point.
The Republican Tea Party (GOTP) puppet spent a lot of time whining on ABC’s “This Week” that the President is engaging in “class warfare” by pushing for higher taxes for wealthy Americans.
Boehner says the rich pay enough taxes and it’s wrong for the president to “pit one set of Americans against another.”
To quote former president Ronald Reagan, “there you go again”.
First, how’s it class warfare if someone suggests the uber-wealthiest 2% of the country’s population should have its taxes increased before chopping, slashing and burning programs to the poorest and most vulnerable, but it’s not class warfare when you staunchly defend the tax rates of the uber-wealthy while pushing to end programs for the poorest and most vulnerable?
The GOTP is playing bait and switch hoping the majority of the American electorate is too obtuse to notice; problem for Boehner and company is they’re not. Voters are beginning to notice, and as Tip O’Neil once said, “All politics is local”. Putting the entire GOTP House on record voting in support of the infamous Ryan plan was one of the dumbest things any Speaker has ever done, and handed any Democratic opponent a huge stick to beat their GOTP rival with. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the House wasted the entire legislative year with political stunts while American’s are out of work; this is going to come back to roost in November 2012.
How’d the GOTP spend its time? By saying no to each and every piece of legislation proposed by the President; by playing political dodge ball with the nation’s debt ceiling; by placating the uber-conservative Tea Party minority when it introduced more than 100 bills aimed on ending a woman’s right to choose, grand standing by staging an elaborate reading the Constitution (while leaving out an entire article) and by reaffirming the national motto of “In God We Trust”.
Bill Clinton beat the Republican incumbent in 1992 by proclaiming “It’s the economy stupid!” And guess what? It’s still the economy stupid! The GOTP’s playing its collective fiddle while the nation’s economy’s burning; hope Boehner’s enjoyed his time as Speaker.
