Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 20 Oct 11 Edition

A new Associated Press/GfK poll conducted 13 – 17 Oct 11 has been released concerning the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) nominating circus; the current poll results are:

Mittens Romney 30; Herman “Pizza Man” Cain 26; Reverend Rick Perry 13; Ronny Paul 8; Newter Gingrich 7; Michele “Krazy” Bachmann 4; Jon “I can’t believe it’s not butter” Huntsman and Ricky “The Ric” Santorum 2

The Pizza Man is still riding high in the polls. But now appears to be slipping after being tied with Romney; Perry’s continues to drop into second tier status with Newter; Paul and Krazy continue sharing a rubber room in political purgatory; while Huntsman and Santorum are still consistently bringing up the rear.

In Iowa, a new Insider Advantage poll conducted 16 Oct 11: Cain 26; Romney 18; Gingrich 12; Bachmann 11; Paul 10; Perry 6; Huntsman 1 and Santorum 0 …

In New Hampshire, the Insider Advantage poll conducted 16 Oct 11 shows Mittens’ lead being cut into a little by Cain; poll results: Mittens 39; Cain 24; Paul 11; Gingrich, Huntsman and Bachmann 5; Perry 2 and Santorum and Huntsman 0.

In South Carolina, the Insider Advantage poll conducted 16 Oct 11 shows the “Pizza Man” jumping way out ahead of Mittens: Cain 32; Romney 16; Perry 12; Gingrich 8; Paul 7; Bachmann 6; Huntsman 1 and Santorum 0.

So, in the three states polling right now Cain leads Romney 2-1 (Iowa and South Carolina) while Mittens leads in New Hampshire, right now it doesn’t look good for Romney but it’s highly doubtful Cain can stay on top.

According to the new Associated Press/GfK poll conducted 13 – 17 Oct 11, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 48/Romney 45

President Obama 49/Cain 43

President Obama 51/Perry 42

And no one else matters:

President Obama /Gingrich

President Obama /Paul

President Obama /Bachmann

President Obama /Santorum

President Obama/Huntsman

Currently there are only three serious GOTP candidates, and everyone else is gobbling up air at the debates; but, they are making things entertaining …

Pizza Man continues to annoy Mittens by being anywhere close to the top, much less tied for first –Mittens and the others tore into Cain during this week’s CNN debate and he didn’t fair very well against their criticism, we’ll see if he can somehow overcome his lagging effort.

If the GOTP clown car had finally stopped spinning, and the general election was held today, Mittens would now be the GOTP candidate, and would have still lost to President Obama.

According to a Perry backer Romney’s in a ‘cult’ and isn’t a Christian

The Associated Press (AP) is reporting that a pastor who introduced Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential favorite Reverend Ricky Perry at a conservative gathering has said rival presidential candidate Mittens Romney is not a Christian and is in a cult because he’s a Mormon.

This is another reason why I’m not a Republican – I don’t like be associated with ignorance and intolerance.

Robert Jeffress, the so-called senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Dallas, is no stranger to showing his religious bigotry; as he made an identically imperceptive remark during the 2008 then GOP campaign.

Reportedly, the event organizers at the Values Voters Summit selected Jeffress to introduce Perry, but the Perry campaign was consulted about the choice and approved Jeffress to introduce the Texas governor.

So, Perry’s people obviously share the same lack of unprofessionalism and inability to vet people as Senator John McCain’s staff demonstrated – or do they? Perry’s steady slip in the polls coupled with Michele “Krazy” Bachmann’s push to make nice with evangelicals may have rattled the Texan’s cage enough that he’s ready to start playing the “Mormon” card.

Jeffress – whose comments about Romney clearly show him to be utterly unreliable in judging who is and who is not a Christian – endorsed Perry at the event and introduced him as “a proven leader, a true conservative, and a committed follower of Christ.”

After his remarks, Jeffress told reporters Perry’s religion is different from Romney’s.

“Rick Perry’s a Christian. He’s an evangelical Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ,” Jeffress said. “Mitt Romney’s a good moral person, but he’s not a Christian. Mormonism is not Christianity. It has always been considered a cult by the mainstream of Christianity.”

“It has always been considered a cult by the mainstream of Christianity.”? Did you really just say that chuckles? Because if you did, clearly mainstream doesn’t mean the same thing to you that it does to, well, to mainstream.

I’m fairly confident Reverend Dullard was meaning the adjective definition of mainstream when he spoke, which is defined as, “belonging to or characteristic of a principal, dominant, or widely accepted group, movement, style, etc…”

I’m equally confident that mainstream Christianity – meaning those Christians whose beliefs are not steeped in the ignorance of 19th century southern religious sophistries – know that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are not only Christian, but devotedly so.

To his credit, Perry – and his campaign – attempted to say he disagrees with Jeffress.

Asked by reporters in Tiffin, Iowa, whether Mormonism is a cult, Perry replied, “No.”

Perry spokesman Mark Miner also said that “the governor does not believe Mormonism is a cult.”

While those comments are reassuring, the campaign refused to say whether it was accepting Pastor Dolt’s endorsement. “The governor is running a campaign of inclusion and looks forward to receiving the endorsement of many people,” Miner said. “People can endorse whoever they like.”

So, by that kind of logic, the Perry campaign will probably not be saying if they’d refuse the endorsements of other individuals or organizations? I’ll leave that up to the imagination of the reader what kind of individuals or groups might want to endorse someone of Perry’s character and background.

Jeffress – who has also said “… the deep, dark, dirty secret of Islam: It is a religion that promotes pedophilia – sex with children. This so-called prophet Muhammad raped a 9-year-old girl – had sex with her”; and who put businesses on a “Naughty or Nice List” based upon the depth to which they celebrated Christmas – said in a 2007 sermon that “Mitt Romney is a Mormon, and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. Even though he talks about Jesus as his lord and savior, he is not a Christian.

“Mormonism is not Christianity. Mormonism is a cult. And just because somebody talks about Jesus does not make them a believer.”

Reportedly, in that sermon, Jeffress said he was frustrated that some religious leaders had backed Romney anyway. “What really distresses me is some of my ministerial friends, and even leaders in our convention, say, `Well, he talks about Jesus, we talk about Jesus, what’s the big deal?’ It is a big deal.”

The AP said Perry’s campaign initially said the decision to have Jeffress introduce Perry had been made strictly by organizers, but a Perry spokesman later backtracked and said the campaign had agreed to it.

“It was their suggestion; it was their choice of who introduced us. They asked our campaign what we thought, and we said OK,” Miner said.

The AP also reported that Jeffress is a prominent religious leader in Texas, and that Perry specifically recognized Jeffress by name during his speech at a dinner for the Light of Life dinner and gala in Dallas.

Perry and Reverend Pudden-head are clearly known associates; the campaign knew what he thought about Romney – their disavowals aside – and they used the opportunity to score much needed points with the uber-conservative evangelical wing of the Tea Party. Romney may eventually win the nomination, by the slightest of margins, but it is very doubtful that the evangelical block will ever vote for him. And while they won’t vote for the President either; they’ll probably just stay home.

Mittens attacks Perry on Social Security in Florida?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidate Mittens Romney is warning senior citizens to beware of turning Social Security into a “Perry scheme,” according to the Huffington Post.

In his political tryst published a scant six months ago, the Reverend Ricky argued the retirement safety net violated states’ rights, and suggested the program had problems from its inception in the 1930s. Ricky says he doesn’t want to change the program for older Americans, but he calls Social Security a “Ponzi scheme” because allegedly funding problems will mean younger Americans won’t receive benefits they are paying for now.

“I think Social Security has worked pretty darned well. I think the problem is keeping it from becoming a Perry scheme,” Mittens mewed.

He also said Social Security should be preserved for future generations and any shortcomings should be solved by whoever is elected president in 2012.

“Social Security is not going to change for anyone in this room,” the former Massachusetts governor reassured his aging audience.

Florida Democrats were quick to criticize Mittens however, not wanting voters to be fooled by his apparent defense of the social security system; Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee, spoke to reporters on a conference call and said Romney was in favor of “dismantling” Social Security and letting people invest retirement funds in the stock market.

“Mitt Romney would have you believe this is a government handout,” she reportedly said. “Mitt Romney would rather carry water for the tea party and leave seniors to fend for themselves in the private market.”

One thing’s for sure, Mittens is smelling blood in the water from Perry’s campaign and is attempting to go in for the political kill.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls (04 Oct 11 Edition)

An ABC News/Wash Post poll conducted from 29 Sep 11 – 02 Oct 11 seems to confirm that the mighty mo of the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) nominating circus has indeed shifted back in Mittens Romney’s favor, and it seems that the Reverend Ricky Perry’s fortunes are definitely in the decline, while Herman “Pizza Man” Cain appears to be a contender – yeah, OK, whatever.

The current ABC News/Wash Post poll shows:

Romney 25; Perry 17; Cain 17; Newter Gingrich 9; Ronny Paul 9; Michele “Krazy” Bachmann 7; Ricky Santorum 2 and Jon “it’s lonely in the cellar” Huntsman 1 …

So, Mittens is decidedly once again in the lead, Perry is falling and “Herb” Cain (being the current “flavor of the week”) is ascending; Newt is hanging in the middle of the pack with Paul , while Huntsman plummets back to bottom dwelling mud sucker status, as Bachmann begins to flounder and Santorum just sits like moss on a rock.

No change to the last Iowa Caucus Poll – Rasmussen Reports dated 31 Aug 11 – Perry holds first place with 29; Bachmann moves to 18, Mitt 17; Paul 14; Cain 4, Santorum 4, Huntsman 3 and Gingrich 2…

And no change in the New Hampshire poll – Rasmussen Reports dated 21 Sep 11: Mittens 39; Rev Ricky 18; Paul 13; Huntsman 7; Krazy 5; Cain and Gingrich 4…

According to the ABC News/Wash Post poll if the general election were held today:

President Obama 46/Romney 48

President Obama 49/Perry 46

Unfortunately for everyone else in the GOTP race ABC News/Wash Post doesn’t care about your chances – including Cain …

President Obama /Paul

President Obama /Bachmann

President Obama / Palin

President Obama /Cain

President Obama /Gingrich

President Obama/Huntsman

President Obama /Santorum

Now, if the GOTP nomination circus – and the general election – had both ended today, Mittens would now be the GOTP candidate, and (although I find this hard to believe) he would have won by two (2) points over President Obama.

Need to remember that the likelihood of evangelicals voting for a Mormon is slim to none, so if Mittens wins the nomination a large section of the GOTP base will likely vote for someone else, or stay home, whereas the Democratic base will be fired up to keep Mr. Tarleck out of the White House – just saying …

Reverend Perry Defended Confederate Symbols?

The Associated Press is reporting that when the NAACP stepped up a campaign to remove the Confederate battle flag from statehouses and other government buildings across the South, it found an opponent in Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential contender Reverend Ricky Perry.

Wow, who’d have ever thunk it; Ricky Perry defending Confederate symbols. What’s the world coming to when a good old boy red neck evangelical Christian from Texas is defending Confederate symbols?

It seems Texas had a pair of bronze plaques with symbols of the Confederacy displayed in its state Supreme Court building. The Reverend, then lieutenant governor, said they should stay put, arguing that Texans “should never forget our history.”

And later, when he became Governor, he said on a number of occasions that Texas should secede from the Union.

Perry has repeatedly defended “state’s rights” and Texas’ legacy in the Civil War, however – as the AP points out – while defense of Confederate symbols and Southern institutions can still be good politics below the Mason-Dixon Line, the subject can appear in a different light when officials seek national office.

But this is not the only albatross hanging around the GOTP presidential hopefuls’ neck; last week he began taking fire for a rock outside the Texas hunting camp his family used to lease that had the name “Niggerhead” painted on it, and GOTP rival Herman Cain, the only black in the conservative race, says the rock symbolizes Perry’s insensitivity to race.

And just in time for this falls race, Texas will soon be deciding whether to allow specialty license plates featuring the Confederate flag as part of the commemoration of the Civil Wars sesquicentennial. The plates were requested by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a nonprofit organization the Reverend has supported time and time again.

“The romanticism around the Old South,” said Hilary Shelton, director of the NAACP’s Washington Bureau. “It’s a view of history that ignores how racism became a tool to maintain a system of supremacy and dominance.”

Granvel Block, the Texas Division commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, said the organization appreciated Perry’s previous position on issues surrounding memorializing the Confederacy.

“I would give him high praise for saying it,” Block said. “Honoring your ancestors, it’s something that the Bible teaches.”

OK now, hold the phone; while the Bible may teach us to honor our ancestors, and certainly the courage of those who fought should be remembered, sometime the South is going to have to come to grips with the fact it lost the war, and that the war WAS about slavery. Claim states rights all you want, but it was about the rights of the individual states to decide on slavery’s fate; there is no other reason, if there hadn’t been slaves there wouldn’t have been a Civil War. It’s really that plain and simple, and the Confederate battle flag has become a symbol of racism, ignorance and even hate in this country.

Many groups – like the NAACP – have been pushing to have all symbols of the Confederacy removed from state and local buildings; and along those lines Perry wrote to the Sons of Confederate Veterans in March 2000 that, “although this is an emotional issue, I want you to know that I oppose efforts to remove Confederate monuments, plaques and memorials from public property.”

“I also believe that communities should decide whether statues or other memorials are appropriate for their community,” Perry wrote in the letter, one of several obtained by The Associated Press under a public information request. “I believe that Texans should remember the past and learn from it.”

He added, “We should never forget our history, but dwelling on the 19th century takes needed attention away from our future in the 21st century.”

Perry elaborated publically on the issue, saying, “I think you’ve got a slippery slope when you start saying we’re going to start taking down every plaque or monument.”

The floor of the Texas Capitol’s rotunda still bears the seal of the Confederacy, and statues on the grounds memorialize Lee and Confederate soldiers. But civil rights organizations consider the battle flag the most objectionable symbol.

Public officials in Texas, as well as in the other Southern states, are called upon periodically to honor Confederate causes because related organizations – such as the Sons of Confederate Veterans – observe its anniversaries.

In a 2005 letter, Ricky welcomed attendees of a benefit hosted by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. “By learning about the past,” he wrote, “we honor our ancestors’ memories and contributions, and appreciate the people and events that preceded the present.” Perry’s great-great-grandfather David H. Hamilton fought at Gettysburg with the First Texas Infantry.

Today, Block’s organization wants to use the Confederate flag license plate to raise money to pay for markers on Confederate soldiers’ graves. “I know that to some people it’s an issue,” he said. “But our purpose is to honor our ancestors and to educate the public on the true cause of the war.”

To educate the people on the true cause of the war; and what would that be Mr. Block? No doubt the “true cause” has nothing to do with slavery, but deals with “the War of Northern Aggression; and this is where people take issue with the battle flag because of the ignorance surrounding it. The “true cause” was slavery, there is no other cause. Additionally, the battle flag is a symbol of treason; there is nothing honorable about breaking your oath to protect and defend your country, or to raise arms against the democratically elected government.

The real issue is that Perry can’t run for the Presidency having said he’d secede, having used a hunting area with the name “Niggerhead” on the entrance, and having protected the use of Confederate symbols and not think there’s a problem. On the other hand, does any of this really surprise anyone?

Bachmann says GOTP nominee must be true conservative, just like her?

According to the Associated Press (AP), former Republican Tea Party (GOTP) darling Michele “Krazy” Bachmann is reportedly dismissing concerns about the strength of her campaign and told supporters she alone has the best conservative credentials to be president.

“I’ve got the complete skill set to do this job,” she told a huge crowd of roughly 35 people in a half-full Cedar Rapids, Iowa hotel ballroom on a dreary rainy day.

Wow, a whole 35 people?! That’s incredible; however did you manage such a huge crowd, especially with the rain and all?!

“This message has to be driven home by conservatives: We can’t settle. We can’t settle. We have to have a candidate who has it all,” she said. “Who is a fiscal conservative, and I am. Who is a national security – peace through strength conservative – like Ronald Reagan was. And I am. And we have to have someone who is a social conservative, who believes in the family. And I do. And we need a tea party conservative, and I am.”

“And we need someone who is not entirely all there. And I am not entirely all there,” her Brain Captain threw in for good measure.

Krazy suggested some of her GOTP opponents couldn’t be trusted to repeal Obama’s health care law – aka Mittens Romney; and the rest didn’t understand foreign policy as well as she does and some were compromised because they’d done favors for political donors – aka Reverend Perry.

And some didn’t understand how hard it was to push through high heal induced migraines, or how hard it was to be submissive to their husbands; or how hard it was not to know American history.

Bachmann thanked the people for showing up and tried to justify the dismally light attendance.

“I know it was short notice,” she said, “it’s in the middle of the day, everyone’s at work, it’s a rainy day, there’s a lot of places you can be.”

Her Brain Captain continued the thought, “And I know there’s lots to do in Cedar Rapids, like watching the grass grow or the paint drying, and I am just so doggone happy and thrilled you gave up those events to come listen to me try to continue to justify my pitiful existence as a presidential hopeful.”

According to the AP, Krazy shook nearly every hand in the room and signed autographs.

Wow, she shook nearly all 35 hands?! That’s incredible; however did she manage to get around to nearly everyone in the room?! It must have taken minutes!

Krazy strongly dismissed suggestions her campaign was floundering, saying voters would pick the nominee, not the news media. And she said she believes she is “positioned perfectly right now” to compete for the nomination because conservatives are looking for someone with her fiery message and record of opposing Obama.

And this ship is entirely capable of making it all the way to New York in spite of that huge gaping hole running along her side.

She’s certifiable; she’s completely 100% certifiable; there’s no way – NO WAY – she’s ever going to win the nomination. She hasn’t had a snow ball’s chance since day 1 and she hasn’t got a snow ball’s chance now. The only good thing about her continued candidacy is that she’s providing the comic relief – watching her campaigning is like watching Lucille Ball or Mary Tyler Moore on crack.

Vengeful Angry Evangelical Co-Chair of Perry’s Florida Campaign?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) contestant Reverend Ricky Perry’s evangelical petticoats are showing once again; he’s decided (according to Mother Jones) to appoint as his new Florida co-chair (drum roll please) Pam Olsen, founder of the Tallahassee House of Prayer (dubbed the “prayer lady” in her home state for reasons that should be self-evident) and a leading anti-abortion activist in the state. Olsen reportedly also believes that gay marriage, and its increasing acceptance among American Christians, is causing destructive natural disasters across the country.

“God is shaking. If anybody looks at the news and has just seen what’s been happening recently with the floods, the fires, the tornadoes, God is shaking,” she preached. “Yeah I think you have God shaking, sure you have the Enemy shaking, you have both and I don’t want to say oh that’s the judgment of God or that’s the Enemy. But the reality is God is judging us, and I think it’s going to get worse.”

This demonstrates who Perry associates with and the type of people he’d be choosing for his cabinet running the country – it’s also a classic example of the uber-conservative evangelical Christian attitude of an angry vengeful God, and an angry vengeful evangelical Christian Tea Party.

Yee Haw, Let’s Take That There Holy Land!

Original Photo – Tom Pennington, Getty Images

According to the New York Times, Reverend Ricky Perry has come down firmly – in all his Evangelical splendor – on the side of uber-conservative supporters of Israel, denouncing what he called an Obama administration policy of “appeasement” that had gravely weakened Israel and forcefully declaring that Jerusalem should be fully under the control of the Israeli government.

And who exactly has the President been appeasing? Since taking office he’s approved $2.775 billion in military aid, part of an ongoing commitment that will eventually top out at approximately $30 billion within the next ten years, and all this at a time when our economy is ailing, and our national debt and deficit are on the increase, the U.S. continues to provide $3.148 billion in loan guarantees aimed at keeping Israel’s debt manageable. Yep, there’s a lot of appeasement going on there alright you putz.

Ricky also reportedly “suggested” if he were king of the forest, he’d move the American embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, telling reporters, during a news conference in New York, “If you want to work for the State Department, you will be working in Jerusalem.”

In short he’s saying, “Y’all better get ready because when I’m runnin things we’re goin to be movin up to Jerusalem whether them A-rabs like it or not.”

He’d be putting U.S. Personnel smack in the middle of a conflicted zone, and daring the Arabs to strike, what’s next, pledging U.S. aid to reclaim the Temple Mount?

“I am for Jerusalem being united under Israeli rule,” he said in response to a question at a news conference. Jewish leaders who had been invited to the event by his campaign and were standing behind him loudly applauded the comment.

You know, in the back of his mind he was saying, “Of course I’m also for secession and national corn dogger day too.”

Basically sheriff Ricky done tossed his lasso at the feet of the Arab world and said he’d be soon leadin a posse to “the Holy Land”! Yee Haw! It’s a good thing he didn’t have no six shooters or he’d have brung em out and shot em into the air.

Perry said the President’s Middle East policy was “naive, arrogant, misguided and dangerous.”

Hold the phone? That sounds like he’s describing his own Middle East policy; let’s get this straight; he’s a career politician from Texas for crying out loud, who earned a degree in animal science while cheer leading, who thinks he’s on a mission from God, believes in state’s rights to the point of secession, and who’s entire background on Israel probably stems from an illustrated copy of the Child’s Bible, and is reinforced once a year when the family sets out the light up plastic Nativity scene in their front yard at Christmas.

While Ricky claims he supports a “two-state solution” in the region, he showed absolutely no tact, pledging “unwavering” support for Israel” and adding with typical Bush-style Texas bluster: “Tell the people of Israel — help is on the way.”

He further “suggested” if the Palestinians obtained statehood recognition at the United Nations, and if he were in charge, he’d put an end to, or very sharply curtail, any further economic aid to the Palestinians.

I think it’s pretty much a certainty if, by some fluke of nature, he becomes the president, the aid to Palestine will be cut off anyhow.

One of the good things when Perry starts shooting his mouth off like this is he looks and sounds more and more like George W. Bush; same cocky air; same Texas sized bravado; same lack of understanding of anything bigger than a cock fight. He’s essentially Bush version 2012, and hopefully the country’s had enough of that nonsense.

It Wasn’t Me Who Said That?

Original AP Photo/Charlie Neibergall

In yet another attempt to back pedal from the brink political extinction Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanabee Michele “Krazy” Bachmann reportedly said Monday – according to the Associated Press (AP) – she was not arguing a vaccine intended to prevent cervical cancer caused mental retardation when she repeated the scientifically unfounded claim last week.

Oh OK; so, a responsible candidate would normally just throw stuff like that out there because she didn’t believe it? Excuse me, but does anyone out there speak “Krazy” talk?

Krazy said she was only relaying what a seemingly distraught woman had told her after the last GOTP presidential debate in Florida. It was during that “debate” that Bachmann criticized rival the Reverend Ricky Perry for ordering the vaccine in Texas.

“All I was doing is relaying what a woman had said,” Krazy told the AP. “I relayed what she said. I wasn’t attesting to her accuracy. I wasn’t attesting to anything.”

“I was only, sort of, saying what she said was true,” her Brain Captain tried to get her to say.

Krazy has accused Reverend Ricky, the once and future king of Texas, of abusing his authority by signing a 2007 executive order requiring school-age girls to be vaccinated against human papillomavirus, a sexually transmitted disease linked to causing cervical cancer. Following the debate, Bachmann described – for Sean Hannity – an alleged encounter she had with a woman she says approached her.

“There’s a woman who came up crying to me tonight after the debate. She said her daughter was given that vaccine,” Bachmann reportedly said on FOX PAC. “She told me her daughter suffered mental retardation as a result. There are very dangerous consequences.”

Perry said Krazy’s comment after the debate was unwise “when she had no scientific backing, to say the very least.”

Come now Reverend, when have facts ever stood in the way of accusations leveled from the mouth of any conservative?

I was going to say Krazy’s antics demonstrate how desperate her campaign is becoming, but she’s always been like this; she’s always said whatever her Brain Captain says – even though he’s apparently DWI most of the time – and then she tries to recant what she’s said. It’s the whole, “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain” moment, repeated over and over again. It used to be fun watching her, now it’s just becoming sad and pathetic.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls (18 Sep 11 Edition)

Moving into the middle of the first “official” month of the 2012 Republican Tea Party (GOTP) race for the White House a poll by CBS News/NY Times shows that Reverend Ricky Perry’s initial bump in the poles may be starting to erode.

CBS News/NY Times conducted a poll from 10 to 15 Sep 11 on who would be the (GOTP) nominee if it all ended today; here’s what it found:

Perry 23, Mittens Romney 16, Michele “Krazy” Bachmann 7, Newt Gingrich 7, Ron Paul 5, Herman “Pizza Man” Cain 5, Ricky Santorum 1 and Jon Huntsman 1 and Sarah “Ice Queen” Palin 0

Reverend Ricky’s lead over Mittens appears to be taking some serious hits following last week’s debate, Krazy is barely holding on in third place tied with the Newt of all people, while Paul is a distant fourth spot, with the Pizza Man and Santorum and Huntsman continue to trail dismally behind; the Ice Queen wasn’t even in the poll …

There’s been no new polling in either Iowa or New Hampshire but according to the last polls numbers available:

In Iowa – according to Rasmussen Reports (always dubious poll results) – Perry holds first place with 29; Bachmann moves to 18, Mitt 17; Paul 14; Cain 4, Santorum 4, Huntsman 3 and Gingrich 2…

In New Hampshire – Magellan Strategies (R): Mitt 36; Rev Ricky 18; Paul 14; Krazy 10; Cain 3, Huntsman 3 and Gingrich 2…

According to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 46/Perry 39

Doesn’t portent anything good when someone like Perry can’t win in a Rasmussen poll, those numbers could be off by an additional five points …

In a Reuters/Ipsos poll:

President Obama 50/Perry 42

President Obama 49/Romney 43

President Obama 49/Paul 42

President Obama 54/Bachmann 36

President Obama 51/Huntsman 37

According to these latest poll (the third in two weeks) everyone else is passé:

President Obama /Cain

President Obama / Palin

President Obama /Gingrich

President Obama /Santorum

So, if the GOTP nomination circus – and the general election – had both ended this week, Reverend Ricky would be the GOTP candidate, and he would have lost by as much as seven (7) points to President Obama.
