Beck’s anti-Semitism drove him from the airwaves?

So, FOX PAC finally came to the conclusion Glenn Beck’s vitriol was even too extreme for its viewers, and that he was becoming too big of a liability? Well good for FOX, at least its proven it will only sell out so far.

With the end of the Bush/Cheney era of doom and gloom (which was a perfect breeding ground for Beck’s non stop Chicken Little hyperbole), and as the nation’s economic woes began to turn around, Beck’s apocalyptic conspiracies became less persuasive, and his audience began to drift away. With his followers beginning to drift away, Beck did the only thing he could, he became shriller and shriller. Ironically, it was his shrillness which ultimately led to his dismissal at FOX PAC. Of course, when you become too unhinged even for FOX it’s probably well past time to seek some serious professional help.

As Beckies cries became ever more high-pitched he pushed further into the dark corners of conspiracy, urging his viewers to hoard food and stock pile gold in preparation for the end of civilization as we know it, for the time when dogs and cats would be living together.

His deranged tales spun a wild conspiracy theory of the American left being in cahoots with an emerging caliphate in the Middle East. His rantings became filled with anti-Semitic themes backed by the infamous conspiracy theorist G. Edward Griffin – who has publicly argued that the anti-Semitic tract “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” “accurately describes much of what is happening in our world today”.

But Beckster’s anti-Semitic raves didn’t end there, he’s also described Reform rabbis as “generally political in nature,” adding: “It’s almost like Islam, radicalized Islam in a way.” He’s also regularly attacked Jewish billionaire George Soros, a Holocaust survivor, as a “puppet master” and read descriptions of him as an “unscrupulous profiteer” who “sucks the blood from people.” Beck falsely called Soros “a collaborator” with Nazis who “saw people into the gas chambers.”

On top of attacking Jews, he’s also repeatedly made comments about the President, claiming that President Obama, “has a deep seated hatred of white people,” and is a racist.

It’s all part of what Beck’s FOX PAC colleague Shepard Smith has dubbed the “fear chamber.”

Beck’s career is fast going the way of other broadcasting Dodos, and in losing his mass-media perch, he is following the same path as Father Charles Coughlin, a path that hopefully one day will also be trod upon by Savage, Limbaugh, Hannity and other have wits who regularly spread fear and hate over the airways.

Glenn Beck leaving FOX PAC

Ding dong the witch is dead; yep, dead as the proverbial door nail; well, at least his FOX PAC show is. How dead? Well, not quite dead yet, but if it were a patient on House, according to the heart monitor it would be going into cardiac arrest … beep … beep … beep … beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep … Glenn Beck’s reign of insanity at FOX PAC will be ending at some undetermined time later this year.

FOX PAC and Beck’s company, Mercury Radio Arts, said Wednesday they will stay in business creating other projects for FOX PAC television and digital, starting with some documentaries Beck is preparing. Yippee, can’t wait to see a Glenn Beck documentary, this will be really informative – no doubt …

Beck’s slide into television oblivion began when during a visit to Fox and Friends he said President Barack Obama had “a deep-seated hatred for white people.”

Just how broken up is FOX PAC management?

“Half of the headlines say he’s been canceled,” Roger Ailes said. “The other half say he quit. We’re pretty happy with both of them.”

Says it all doesn’t it?

But wait a second, Beck isn’t done yet, he has something to say to all of his detractors, “One year from now, you on the left will be crapping yourselves so much, you haven’t crapped in your pants as much as you will a year from now as you did since you were a child, you’ll be making more, you’ll crap yourself more than when you were a baby! And you will find Jesus! You will suddenly find religion and you will be kneeling at some altar lighting candles every day praying to Jesus that Glenn Beck would please just do 5:00 on the Fox News Channel. There’s my prediction…”

Yeah that’s very professional and also very Christian Beck. The likelier prediction Glenn is that you’ll either be in a rubber room somewhere, or you’ll have founded your own church and will be hiding out in your “religious bunker” in the wilderness of southwest Utah.

Beck has gone from mildly amusing to full blown far right wacko in the space of his two year stint at FOX, and he really has no one to blame but himself. You can’t say extreme things over the air. When you do your audience will expect you to continue to do so, and then they will demand that you become more and more extreme. Rush, Hannity, et al, take note. If you’re going to continue to say extreme right wing talking points which have absolutely no resemblance to the truth, eventually it is going to catch up to you.

Attack in Arizona Result of Glib Political Speech?

This is what happens when candidates like Sharon Angle glibly talk about using “2nd Amendment remedies”, or Sarah Palin speaks about “taking aim at Democratic Members of Congress”, or “reloading”. Words have consequences, and candidates, and talk show personalities, need to remember that.

Oh look, Congresswoman Giffords has a gun site on her in this Sarah Palin poster … go figure why these kind of people pull guns and shoot members of Congress.

“Republicans don’t retreat, they reload,” Palin glibly spews at countless TPGOP rallies.

“Americans (Republicans) are going to have to start using 2nd Amendment remedies if the voters don’t get it right,” former TPGOP senate candidate Sharron Angle told a crowd at a campaign stop last fall.

This kind of speech breeds violent acts …

The attack on Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and those who were with her last month might be the work of “a single nut,” said Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva, whose Arizona district shares Tucson with Giffords’ district. But he said the nation must assess the fallout of “an atmosphere where the political discourse is about hate, anger and bitterness.”

People like former TPGOP Congressional candidate  Jesse Kelly among them. During his campaign effort to unseat Giffords in November, Kelly held fundraisers where he urged supporters to help remove Giffords from office by joining him to shoot a fully loaded M-16 rifle. Kelly is a Marine who served in Iraq and was pictured on his website in military gear holding his automatic weapon and promoting the event. But of course Jessie Kelly doesn’t want to accept that “targeting” your opponents plays into people like this. His “honor code” as a Marine only goes so far.

Sadly one of the victims killed in the attack refused to press charges people who had threatened his life.  In 2009, Judge Roll ruled that the case Vicente v. Barnett could go forward. The $32 million lawsuit brought by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) against Arizona rancher Roger Barnett (one of those good old white, god fearing christian fellas) on behalf of 16 Mexican plaintiffs charged that the plaintiffs were assaulted, threatened, and held at gunpoint by Barnett and members of his family. After Roll’s ruling – and prompted by several talk-radio programs – he was the subject of hundreds of complaining phone calls and death threats and he and his family were under the protection of the U.S. Marshals Service for a month. Roll declined to press charges when some of those who made threats were identified.

Funny how people like Sarah Palin think its just savey political speech to “target” opponents, and to portray them as “enemies” of freedom and democracy, but those who are “targeted” as a result, men like Judge Roll, choose the higher ground and don’t press charges, and then ultimately pay for it in the end.

‎It was Giffords father, 75-year-old Spencer Giffords, who wept when asked if his 40-year-old daughter had any enemies, and answered, “Yeah,” to The New York Post, “The whole tea party.”

If “The Islamic Brotherhood” Takes Power In Egypt, “Then It’s World War III”?

According to FOX PAC talking circus performer, Bill O’Rilley (aka Bill the Clown), “If the Islamic Brotherhood takes power In Egypt, then it’s World War III”. Really Billo? It’s World War III? How do you people at FOX PAC sleep at night? Between your gloom and doom 24/7, and lying through your teeth for 99.9% of that time, how can you sleep?

It appears FOX PAC is wishing and hoping that Egypt not only becomes President Obama’s Iran, but that it also becomes the next world war. You’ve got Reverend Beck proclaiming this is the real Archduke Ferdinand moment he’s been warning us all about (we’re up to the seventh so-called moment since President Obama took office), and now Billo the Clown is proclaiming it becomes the third world war if the Islamic Brotherhood take over the government in Egypt. But, have you noticed? Not one of the gloom and doomers at FOX, not Rush, nor any of the right wing talking bovines or politicians who have been, and continue to be, so critical of the President have offered one concrete suggestion of what he should have done, or of what he should do know.

I understand the right-wing crazies got used to the Bush Doctrine (well, all except Sarah Palin who doesn’t know what that is) and I’m sure their solution would be to invade Egypt, or at the very least start bombing Cairo and Alexandria if the Islamic Brotherhood takes over; how sad for them we now have a President who doesn’t share their view that America can, and should, preemptively invade or bomb anyone we choose.

Besides talking to Mubarak on the phone and giving him advice that he really needs to step down, that the United States gravy train is not running any more, what more can the President do? And, oh, a by-the-way right wingers, Mubarak is a dictator. You know, the same kind of person you yelled and screamed had to be pushed out of Iraq. “But he was our dictator!” “He was our kind of guy!” They would all no doubt collectively shout. But, what can the President do, that he isn’t already doing? We – as a people – would never stand for another nation interfering in our internal affairs. We – the United States – do not own the world, even if it’s true we are the only true super power in the world today, we don’t have the legal the authority, or the right, to tell other countries what to do, or to invade and bomb because we can. We, like the rest of the civilized world (basically anyone not glued to FOX PAC, and listening to right-wing talk radio all day) must watch as these events unfold, and then see what has filled the vacuum in Mubarak’s absence.

Could Bring Down the Republic?

The day after the terrible murders at a Congressional event in Tucson, Arizona, the Reverend Beck sent an e-mail to the ex-governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, according to Beck he wrote:

“Sarah, as you know, peace is always the answer. I know you are felling the same heat, if not much more on this. I want you to know you have my full support.”

He then encouraged her to get some protection because an “attempt on you could bring the Republic down.”

Excuse me? An attempt on Sarah Palin’s life “could bring the Republic down”? Really? It could “bring the Republic down”?

If one ever needed evidence of the delicate state of the sanity of those involved here, one wouldn’t ever have to search any further. To think, much less to say, that if someone attempted to kill Sarah Palin it could “bring the Republic down”?

Reverend Beck, just who do you think Sarah Palin is? In the 200+ year history of the Republic there have been 13 Presidents of whom we know there were assassination attempts, and at least four Presidents have been assassinated, and through all of that the Republic has remained strong. Through the assassination of Robert Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Republic remained solvent. But you believe if there was an attempt on Sarah Palin’s life it could “bring down the Republic”?

I ask again, who do you think – believe – Sarah Palin is? She isn’t a Messiah any more than President Obama is the Messiah. She isn’t someone who is on an equal with the “Founders” of the nation.

You Mr. Beck are sadly delusional in her worth to the Republic and in your own worth to this country. She is a former mayor of a one horse town, and ex-governor who quit when she couldn’t take the heat, and you are a two-bit charlatan who can only remain popular as he feeds his fans one more lunatic idea after another. If an attempt was made on either of your seemingly self important, self indulgent, pathetic little lives; I assure you sir the Republic would not fall. It wouldn’t gasp, and it wouldn’t even shudder. It would remain strong and vibrant, and keep plugging along. If the deaths of men like Lincoln and Kennedy, and the attempted murders of Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt, Reagan and Obama haven’t brought down the Republic, your deaths would nary even send a ripple across the surface.

Take a look in the mirror Glenn; you ain’t all that and a bag of potato chips; and neither is she.

Progressives are “Enemies to God”?

According to Reverend Beck, progressives are now “enemies of God”. It simply wasn’t enough ( meaning he had to up the ante to earn better ratings) to call progressives socialists, communists and Nazis – which of course is a complete oxymoron, but then again so is Beck – now progressives are labeled “enemies of God”. And of course if Reverend Beck says it, well, then it must be so.

On his 21 Jan 11 edition of Premiere Radio Networks’ The Glenn Beck Program, Beck stated the “Founding Fathers” sought to promote enlightenment, empowerment and entrepreneurship.

“There are another set of founders in America — the founders of the progressive movement. They know this system as well,” Beck said. “And they also know all thought is creative. So now let’s just quickly look at what they’ve (progressives) done. They have distanced God from people. They have discredited him, distanced him, made him into a joke, denied his existence or, at best, just confused him with social justice and everything else — just confused him.”

This is the whole; they’re “enemies of God” stuff. After all progressives – according to Beck – have “discredited” God, “distanced” God, made God “into a joke”, “denied” God’s “existence”, or the best, progressives have “just confused” God “with social justice and everything else.” The “social justice” and “everything else” of course would be those evil parts of the progressive movement where we’re all supposed to help each other, help pull each other up and lift one another, nothing like the conservative view of Christianity, which is screw your neighbor, if you want to find a righteous man look for a rich man, after all if he’s rich God must have blessed him with it, and of course that means if you’re poor you must be sinful. Let’s just forget about the whole Sermon on the Mount, and that camel fitting through the eye of the needle nonsense.

Reverend Beck is as obtuse as they come when it comes to the subject of God or religion. He chooses to ignore all the best tenants of Christianity because they get in his way, just as they get in the way of Limbaugh, Hannity et al. If the top 2% (meaning those who have the majority of the wealth in our country) spent more time creating jobs and helping to take care of the poor, then the government wouldn’t have too. Unfortunately their credo is becoming more and more, (in my very rudimentary Latin) “Ut quod mei est mei, quod ut quod vestri est mei, sic combibo is sursum” or “That which is mine is mine, and that which yours is mine, so suck it up”.

“Do whatever you have to do” to stop the remaking of this country?

C’mon, when has Glenn Beck ever said anything that could be misunderstood as suggesting violence should be used against the Government?

“It falls to the people. It always has fall on the people. But I asked, I said, ‘Between the radio audience and the TV audience, I got about 10 million guard dogs.’ We need people who have understood the Constitution and understand this theory of remaking America, the fundamental transformation, to stand guard and watch them every step of the way — guard and bark and growl and do whatever you have to do, because these people are hijacking our country.” [Fox News, Glenn Beck, 7/28/09, via Nexis]

‎”Do whatever you have to do…” whatever you have to do? The definition of “whatever”: “pron. 1. Everything or anything that …”

“Do everything you have to do…”

“Do anything you have to do…”

Beck is a charlatan and a liar. Telling his listeners to do “whatever you have to do” is telling them to use “any means necessary” to achieve an overthrow of the constitutionally elected government. He is not a patriot, he is a coward – because he wants others to act for him – and he is a traitor to everything he claims to hold dear, including the Constitution and the freedoms outlined therein.

FOX PAC Suddenly Silent on Reported GOTP Plans to Use “Cowardly” “Demon Pass” Rule?

With all the extensive FOX PAC coverage of the new Republican Tea Party (GOTP) House majority, isn’t it interesting that it has so far ignored the fact that Herr Boehner and company are reportedly embracing the use of the self-executing rule — commonly referred to as “deem and pass” — to mandate federal budget limits. By comparison, FOX PAC “talking heads” repeatedly attacked Democrats for even considering using the rule during the health care debate, dubbing it “demon pass” and questioning its constitutionality.

Talking Points Memo (TPM) reported that the self-executing rule, also known as “deem and pass,” was “scheduled to make its return to the Capitol Hill on January 5.” According to TPM’s Brian Beutler, “Because Democrats didn’t pass a budget, and because spending authority expires in early March, there’s a strong chance that the government will run out of money before the House and Senate agree to new spending levels. When that happens, under the new House rules, spending will continue — but at levels no higher than those chosen by the House Budget Committee chairman, Paul Ryan.

“As soon as those rules are adopted on Wednesday, Ryan’s spending levels will be considered — or “deemed” — adopted by the full House as if they’d passed a budget with a floor vote. The legislative language in the rules package holds that Ryan’s spending limits, “shall be considered as contained in a concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2011 and the submission thereof into the Congressional Record shall be considered as the completion of congressional action on a concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2011.” [Talking Points Memo, 1/4/11]

But if we travel back to the days of the great health care debate, when Democratic leaders were merely considering using it, Talking Points Memo also reported, “House Democrats were toying with using a similar process to pass health care reform. They were considering the Senate health care package, which they hated, and a package of amendments to that bill, which they liked. To square those views, they wanted to set up a procedural vote, which, if agreed to, would “deem” both bills passed at once. “Deem” and “pass.”

“This quickly became known as “Demon Pass,” or the “Slaughter Solution,” named after House Rules Chair Louise Slaughter. Republicans rebelled, and conservatives went off the deep end. Radio talk show host Mark Levin called it ‘100 times worse than Watergate.’

“Democrats eventually bowed to that pressure and decide not to use the process — known technically as “deeming,” or a “self-executing.” [Talking Points Memo, 1/4/11]”

Discussing the self-executing rule on the 16 Mar 10 edition of his show, Professor Glenn Beck asked, “How is this even constitutional?” He later wrote in his newsletter that Democrats are “slaughtering the Constitution” and that “the Constitution is being thwarted” if the health care reform legislation passes using the self-executing rule. [FOX PACs’ Glenn Beck, 3/16/11]

During the 11 Mar 10 edition of his FOX PAC show, Sean Hannity said, “The desperation among Democrats to pass this health care bill has reached new heights. Now they lacked the votes in the House to jam this bill through. So their latest solution, don’t vote at all. Now that’s what House rules chairwoman Louise Slaughter is proposing. Now she wants to create a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed and once and for all by passing a minor bill that makes corrections to the Senate bill.” [FOX PACs’ Hannity, 3/11/10 (accessed via Nexis)]

On the 17 Mar 10 edition of FOX PACs’ On the Record, host Greta Van Susteren asked Fox News contributor Dana Perino, “[T]his is a way so that the — in a sense, that the House can go back to the districts and say, Look, I didn’t vote for it because it’s just been deemed passed, right?” and later claimed, “[I]f I were a Democratic member of Congress … the last thing I would want to do is say I sort of cowardly did this deemer — this ‘deem scheme’ thing.” [FOX PACs’ On the Record, 3/17/10, via Nexis]

During an interview with former Republican Sen. Trent Lott, Neil Cavuto compared Democrats who vote for the self-executing rule as “a nefarious car salesman who says, well, yes, you bought this and you paid for this, when, in fact, you didn`t buy this and you didn’t think you paid for this, right?” [FOX PACs’ Your World, 3/15/10, via Nexis]

On 18 Mar 10, FOX PAC leprechaun Hannity criticized then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her support of “deem and pass,” calling it “unconstitutional” and suggesting that House Democrats are “bribing people.” From Hannity:

That same day’s edition of his FOX PAC show, the Beckster called for “the political game surrounding the health care bill” to be “addressed”, “The health care bill is merely a battle. And it is a huge battle. I think it may be Normandy, but it’s part of a bigger war,” Beck said.

“And the war is the fundamental transformation, or restoration of our country. That is the game that they’re playing. And while everybody is going to focus on the political game surrounding the health care bill, the Slaughter Rule, the secrecy, the arm-twisting, the bribes, the lies — these things should be addressed.” [Glenn Beck, 3/18/10, via Nexis]

On the 17 Mar 10 edition of his show, Hannity questioned the “constitutionality” of the “Slaughter rule”, “[I]f this Slaughter rule is used, they have prepared — I’ve put it up on my Web site. They have prepared a court challenge as to the constitutionality of it. There’s also been talk about the constitutionality of mandates.” [Hannity, 3/17/10, via Nexis]

On the 19 Mar 10 edition of his show, Professor Beck said, “The [health care reform] process that the president doesn’t seem to care about has been so abused the average person in America has absolutely no idea what is even happening. What has happened to our country? Is there no honor anymore?
“Yes, let’s just — let’s forget about that whole Constitution thing where it has to pass both the House and the Senate, you know, no. Let’s just instead deem that it has been passed in the House.” [Glenn Beck, 3/19/10, via Nexis]

So far, primetime FOX PAC shows have failed to cover the GOP use of the self-executing rule. A Nexis search of January programs showed no mention of the self-executing rule on any Fox News shows. Media Matters searched FOX PAC transcripts from the networks’ primetime shows from January 1 to January 7 using the search term (deem! w/5 pass! OR self-execut! OR slaughter OR without w/5 vot!). Media Matters search turned up nothing.

So, just to recap, the talking heads at FOX PAC repeatedly attacked the Democrats for simply thinking of using this. But, suddenly (cue the sound of crickets chirping) they are very silent. The GOP House is a den of hypocrites, as is FOX PAC. FOX should just change its motto to “We decide what to report, and you just listen and regurgitate it.”

(Our thanks, as always, to Media Matters for all of its awesome research)

The U.S. is Sending “Another Trillion Dollars, Your Tax Dollars” Over To Europe?

Really? We’re sending another $1,000,000,000 to Europe? Well, that’s what professor Beck is claiming.

“Now we find out through the Fed that we are going to do almost another trillion dollars, your tax dollars, over to Europe,” Beck claimed while discussing efforts by the International Monetary Fund to stabilize European economies on his FOX PAC program this week.

Unfortunately, as we’ve discovered before, Professor Beck doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s just making it up as he goes along.

The Wall Street Journal Reported, in its 1 Dec 10 edition the exact opposite of what the Beckster said.

“The U.S. isn’t discussing a larger International Monetary Fund contribution to the European rescue package, a U.S. official said Wednesday.

“U.S. Undersecretary of Treasury Lael Brainard is now in Germany discussing the Europe’s plans to contain the euro zone’s sovereign debt woes. A U.S. official said those talks don’t now include a larger IMF contribution.”

Additionally the Associated Press reported on the December 1, 2010, “A U.S. official, who would speak only on condition of anonymity because discussions were still ongoing, said that an addition to the IMF support package was not something that was being discussed currently.

“Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner did dispatch Treasury Undersecretary Lael Brainard, Treasury’s top official on international matters, for talks with European officials. Brainard had meetings in Madrid with economic officials on Wednesday and was scheduled to be in Berlin on Thursday and Paris on Friday.

“The U.S. ‘can’t afford to let Europe implode,’ said David Gilmore of Foreign Exchange Analytics. But the reported statement by the U.S. official does not necessarily mean that the U.S. has already agreed to a deal allowing the IMF to contribute more money or that it will pony up more money for Europe itself.

“A spokesman for the EU’s monetary affairs chief Olli Rehn said he had not heard of talks about extending the EFSF fund.”

Listen please, “… had not heard of talks about extending the EFSF fund.” There are no talks, the U.S. is not sending any additional funds to Europe. Beck is a liar, or he’s delusional, or he’s both.
