Glenn Beck leaving FOX PAC

Ding dong the witch is dead; yep, dead as the proverbial door nail; well, at least his FOX PAC show is. How dead? Well, not quite dead yet, but if it were a patient on House, according to the heart monitor it would be going into cardiac arrest … beep … beep … beep … beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep … Glenn Beck’s reign of insanity at FOX PAC will be ending at some undetermined time later this year.

FOX PAC and Beck’s company, Mercury Radio Arts, said Wednesday they will stay in business creating other projects for FOX PAC television and digital, starting with some documentaries Beck is preparing. Yippee, can’t wait to see a Glenn Beck documentary, this will be really informative – no doubt …

Beck’s slide into television oblivion began when during a visit to Fox and Friends he said President Barack Obama had “a deep-seated hatred for white people.”

Just how broken up is FOX PAC management?

“Half of the headlines say he’s been canceled,” Roger Ailes said. “The other half say he quit. We’re pretty happy with both of them.”

Says it all doesn’t it?

But wait a second, Beck isn’t done yet, he has something to say to all of his detractors, “One year from now, you on the left will be crapping yourselves so much, you haven’t crapped in your pants as much as you will a year from now as you did since you were a child, you’ll be making more, you’ll crap yourself more than when you were a baby! And you will find Jesus! You will suddenly find religion and you will be kneeling at some altar lighting candles every day praying to Jesus that Glenn Beck would please just do 5:00 on the Fox News Channel. There’s my prediction…”

Yeah that’s very professional and also very Christian Beck. The likelier prediction Glenn is that you’ll either be in a rubber room somewhere, or you’ll have founded your own church and will be hiding out in your “religious bunker” in the wilderness of southwest Utah.

Beck has gone from mildly amusing to full blown far right wacko in the space of his two year stint at FOX, and he really has no one to blame but himself. You can’t say extreme things over the air. When you do your audience will expect you to continue to do so, and then they will demand that you become more and more extreme. Rush, Hannity, et al, take note. If you’re going to continue to say extreme right wing talking points which have absolutely no resemblance to the truth, eventually it is going to catch up to you.

Florida terrorist leader oversees Quran burning

The Florida terrorist who decided not to burn a Quran last fall on the anniversary of 9/11 led a mock trial, and then exalted in the burning of the Islamic holy book on Sunday after it was found “guilty” by members his terrorist cell.

Terry Jones, leader of the infamous Dove World Outreach Center, acted as the supreme judge in the self-styled trial at his terrorist training facility in Gainesville, Fla.

The fanatical religious leader denied he had broken earlier promises not to burn a Quran, and considered the “International Judge the Quran Day” to be a much fairer way of addressing the Islamic holy book. But of course he didn’t think he was a breaking a promise, I’m sure his God finds it perfectly OK to burn a sacred book on the Sabbath. Jones no doubt thinks he will be rewarded one day with 70 virgins for his efforts.

“We still don’t feel that we broke our word — that was in relationship to International Burn a Quran Day,” he said. What he says he promised earlier was that his group “… would not establish another International Burn a Quran Day.”

Ah yes, that makes it OK. So, if Al Qaeda were to promise it wouldn’t fly any more air planes into buildings, it would still be OK to blow up a school somewhere? After all, they promised not to use any more air planes.

Jones will no doubt have his reward one day, but it won’t be anyone singing his praises, well maybe there will be a few, a rather select group of other book burners from history; I’m sure that Adolph and company will reserve a special seat for the “Reverend” and his “followers”. Until that day comes, he should be placed in a nice cell next to others who promote hatred and terror in a happy little place called Gitmo.

Ohio Governor tells 360,000 Ohio workers this state’s government belongs to the corporations?

Ohio Governor John Kasich (another GOTP wanabee dictator) has signed a bill stripping collective bargaining rights from more than 360,000 state workers and bars them from striking. Democrats throughout the state have said they will collect some 230,000 signatures in the next 90 days to block immediate implementation of the law and put it to a public referendum on the November ballot.

“This idea of government of the corporations, by the corporations and for the corporations has actually taken hold,” said Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D), who represents Ohio’s 10th District. “Unions are one of the last lines of defense against a corporate plutocracy.”

So, an out of control governor in Wisconsin decides he’s been essentially appointed as a dictator with his over the top attack on collective bargaining in his state, going so far as to ignore federal court orders to stand down, and now the governor of Ohio looks and says something like, “Oh goodie, I want to play too”?

Which states are next in our lineup of crazies from the far right GOTP? New Jersey? Florida or maybe New Mexico or Arizona? Wait, strike that, Arizona is already led by the looniest of the crazies; but where does this madness end? At the ballot box that’s where. Voters have got to wake up to fact that there are GOTP candidates out there who believe they have some sort of god given mandate, and that no power on earth can stop them. Enter the voters. Recalls have begun in Wisconsin, and will more than likely follow in Ohio as well.

It’s time for the Republican Tea Party politicians to get the message loud and clear, “ENOUGH”! You weren’t anointed, you were elected. You do not possess “phenomenal cosmic powers in the tiny little living space”. But keep it up, please.

Ignore the people of your states, and you will soon be some ex-governor working as a spokesperson for FOX next to another ex-governor from Alaska. FOX is always looking for another has been to add to its lineup.

Trump produced an unofficial birth certificate?

Sometimes all the tumblers really do fall into place and the result is a divine comedy. Yesterday, real estate magnate, and aspiring GOTP Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump thought he was poking President Barack Obama in the eye by releasing a copy of his own birth certificate. By doing so, “The Donald” had hoped to show how he could easily obtain, and show proof, of his natural-born citizenship, insinuating of course that the President had failed to do so, at least according to Trump, FOX PAC and those in the Tea Party’s “birther” movement.

But upon closer examination, what do our wandering eyes behold? Not Trump’s “official” birth certificate at all, but one “easily obtained” from the Jamaica Queens hospital where the wee Trumper was birthed. Yes, the birth certificate released to the conservative news site Newsmax – in an effort to harass President Obama – was issued only by a hospital; unfortunately for Trump, “official” birth certificates for New York City are however only issued by the city Department of Health.

As the old German proverb says, “A donkey can wear a lion suit but its ear will still stick out and give it away,” and so as Trump tried to embarrass the President of the United States he has simply come off looking exactly like the self absorbed, pompous, strutting, arrogant little jackass he is. He may be wearing a “lion suit”, trying to court favor with potential right-wing nut jobs, but clearly “his ear is sticking out”.

GOTP presidential hopefuls hammer health care, have nothing new to offer? Nope not one new idea, just more of the same old tripe they’re always scooping out …

And so, it’s 20 some odd months until Election Day 2012 and a very small group of potentially high-profile Grand Old Tea Party (or the group formerly known as Republican) candidates show up like the early spring honey bee hoping to impress the equally small hundred or so conservative activists Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa that most Americans (that would be GOTP, Independent and the very small smattering of Democratic voters) agree with their particularly odd variation of “values”, and opposition to all and everything President Obama represents, but mostly his socialistic health care overhaul; and that all of this could somehow magically help the GOTP make historic gains in 2012.

One of the most incredible long shots in political history, except for possibly with this year’s gathering of right-wing odd balls and fruit cakes is Michigan Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who not surprisingly is a huge a tea party favorite, and who – also not surprisingly – got the noisiest reception when she told the “huge” hundred plus crowd gathered that voters are ready to overturn the federal health care law and oust President Barack Obama during next year’s election.

“The ultimate arrogance, in my opinion, is Obama-care,” Bachman said. “That’s why I am so absolutely confident in 2012. Americans have made the decision that we’re going to take our country back.”

Ah yes, the perennial GOTP favorite line, “we’re going to take our country back.” But to where do you want to take it, and for whom Congresswoman? Are we going back to 2008? Back to those happy carefree days of Bush/Cheney when habeas corpus was suspended on a whim if your name had Mohamed in it, or before our military was free from Gays and Lesbos? Or back to the pre-Camelot days before all those pesky Black people dared to eat at the same lunch counter?

Of course the Newt was there, and the deep south’s Haley Barbour and even former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain spoke to add a splash color to the Midwest white bread event as the token conservative African-American, since Justice Clarence Thomas was unable to attend due not being sure how to bill the gathering and still at least try to appear impartial on the bench.

But why Iowa you ask? Is it because it’s a field of dreams, and hopefully Newt, Barbour and company will all walk into the corn and finally fade away? Or is it simply because event organizer, Iowa Congressman Steve King, believes that his home state, the state where the nation’s first presidential caucus will take place, is the proper venue to help conservatives shape the debate as members of the GOTP begin looking for a candidate to run against Obama.

“We need to take this nation to the next level of its destiny,” King told the crowd. “You can shape that destiny.”

Of course with Bachman, Newt and Barbour that “next level of its destiny” can only mean backwards or farther off the cliff of economic collapse started during the last administration.

While Iowa is the traditional launch pad for the presidential nominating season, when one sees the sharply conservative rhetoric from Saturday’s little rally, allegedly reflecting an Iowa GOTP that’s drifted not just to the right, but to the far right, coupled with some polling data from last year showing more than 60 percent of GOTP caucus-goers there are identifying themselves as not only Christians but evangelicals, you have the makings of a gold old fashioned revival meeting, the type where Mormons – such as Mitt Romney – need not apply; of course it’s also then going to be an evangelical crowd that’s going to have a hard time getting its arms around a two time adulterer, or a deep south nominee, which leaves the nomination wide open for Huckleberry, Bachman and Palin. How wonderful.

Interestingly enough Newt insisted that most Americans agree with his conservative values, with the Newtster actually saying the 2012 election would provide a chance to end the “domination of the left and move this country back to the center-right.”

That would be the center right where family values stands for cheating on not just one but two spouses, marrying each mistress in turn and then claiming you couldn’t control your hormones because of your deep seated love of country?

Haley said the GOTP can win next year if their candidates stay focused on key issues — health care and balancing the federal budget — without getting distracted by arguments about personality. Of course by balancing the budget he means zeroing out any progressive programs, while continuing to cut taxes to the top 2% of the nation’s population and allowing defense spending to maintain its unabashed feeding frenzy.

“What is important to us is to have a new president,” Barbour said. “This election needs to be about policy.”

That’s right. It’s all about the policy of taking our country back to a time when uppity folks like foreign born blacks knew their place, isn’t that right Governor? It’s about an America where homos and lesbians weren’t allowed in polite society, and it’s about the America where the term foreign policy meant telling our allies to shut up, sit down and do what we told them to do.

During the “event”, the speakers all focused on criticizing President Obama and the Democratic Party, and the Newter even took the time to say how he “helped balance a budget for four straight years” while House speaker. That of course was due more largely to the efforts to his fellow philanderer President Clinton, than for anything he himself managed to do, between his own affairs while impeaching the President for his infidelity.

But of course, Newty also took the opportunity to attack – yet again – President Obama’s handling of the air strikes in Libya. He ridiculed Obama for consulting the Arab League and the United Nations, but not Congress, before getting involved. The Newt said he wouldn’t have approved the air strikes, even though he pushed for air strikes and a no-fly zone just a week or two before the President implemented that very policy, but said Newt, “once you get involved, you put on the pressure and you win quickly.” As compared to becoming bogged down in not one but two wars with absolutely any exit policy, clear cut goals or objectives.

Cain, who decided to be the one speaker not talking about the federal health care law, said the conservative movement is gaining strength and will help the GOTP “take back the government”.

He does understand that the GOTP’s version of “taking back” the government would mean he’d be serving them the pizza, and driving Miss Daisy around town, doesn’t he? Taking the country back doesn’t mean equality for Blacks, Hispanics, Gays or Lesbians. It’s taking the country back to the happier times of Herbert Hoover before Labor Unions and desegregated class rooms.

Seeming to be oblivious to all of this, and believing the fact that since he’s a wealthy black man meant he shared in the GOTP dream, he said the U.S. has “an entitlement spending crisis” that must be reformed in order to solve the nation’s financial woes. Being the GOTP code for throwing the poor and the elderly out on the street where they belong. Cutting social security benefits to the disabled, cutting WIC and women’s pre-natal and health care, slashing college loan programs to the poor and zeroing public broadcasting, and arts programs.

“We don’t like the radical socialist agenda that is being shoved down our throats,” he said.

And what he wanted to say is we don’t like the idea that the poor can have free health care, and have their standard of living increased, and that we have a minimum wage and child labor laws and the like, and that he could’ve made much higher profits if only he could’ve paid lower salaries or could’ve had five and six your olds slaving away in his pizza kitchens.

Meanwhile, Bach on the farm, the Congresswoman from Michigan steered things back onto the effort to repeal the health care reform law and said that American’s bad feelings for the law had created a strong tide of support for the GOTP positioning itself for next year’s election.

“It’s never gone below a majority of Americans who want to see Obama-care repealed,” Bachmann said. “This is, I believe, the greatest power grab that I have ever seen.”

Really, “it’s never gone below a majority of Americans who want to see Obama-care repealed”? While that might be true of any Rasmussen poll, in the world outside of the FOC PAC bubble the clear majority doesn’t want it repealed, and is happy with the law. And are you really serious when you claim this is the greatest power grab you’ve ever seen Congresswoman? So, one can only assume you either haven’t paid any attention to the whole political coup thing in Wisconsin? Or, you wholeheartedly agree with it?

Bachman exhorted the hundred or so listeners that the stakes in next year’s election are enormous, and that “what we are going to determine together, here in Iowa, is quite frankly whether we will pass the American Dream on to the next generation.”

Of course that’s the American dream of white, Anglo-Saxon, Christian evangelicals. Not the one that includes people of color – except to clean the house, repair the roof, pick the vegetables and maybe collect your garbage. It’s also not the American Dream of any of those darned Muslims and their Mohamed; it’s not the American Dream of religious freedom, unless you strictly uphold to the idea that America is a Christian nation; of course it’s a Christian nation that is largely denying the Christ, and his teachings regarding caring for the poor and the sick among us, and of brotherly love etc. It’s the Evangelical Christian American Dream of the Old Testament where Gays are stoned to death, and only white people get to be President. It’s the American Dream of preemptive warfare and unending tax cuts and never having to pay the bill for the Wild West diplomacy.

Republicans claiming Libyan bombing is ‘unconstitutional’?

GOTP (Grand Old Tea Party) members of Congress are claiming the conflict in Libya is unconstitutional because President Barack Obama failed to ask, “Mother may I”? Strange how the same group – responsible for supporting George Bush’s misadventures in Afghanistan and Iraq – is now wanting a President to be responsible, or is it just because it’s President Obama?

The President actually sent a letter concerning the Libya intervention to members of Congress on Monday, well within the guidelines of the War Powers Act.

Not good enough according to the GOTP; which claims that under the U.S. Constitution Congressional approval is required for declarations of war. While that may be true, the United States has not acted militarily under a declaration of war since Franklin Roosevelt addressed the Congress on 8 December 1941. How many American soldiers, sailor, airmen and marines have been placed in harm’s way since then?

Where was the GOTP when Americans were sent off to fight George W’ Bush’s private little war in Iraq? You want an example of unconstitutional misuse of authority, there it was.

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, yes he’s GOTP, was among members who argued that military action in Libya was unconstitutional. He told the Hill magazine: “The United States does not have a King’s army. President Obama’s unilateral choice to use US military force in Libya is an affront to our constitution.”

No Congressman, you’re an affront to our constitution, and to your office. On 13 March 2004, you were one of the “Congressional Co-Chairs” of a so-called “Host Committee” which provided access to the Dirkson Senate Office Building for a “Messiah” crowning of the Rev Sun Myung Moon, a piece of theatrics the New York Times compared to “an act of the Roman Emperor Caligula.” You also under-reported, according to the Frederick News-Post, property sales by over $1 million since 2004. But of course you defended this as a mere “oversight” and that you were only a “bit player” in the real estate transactions. But wait sir, you also, once again according to the Frederick News-Post, made $299,000 in unreported loans in order to sell your daughter’s home over which you had exercised a power of attorney. So, please, spare us all the “holier than thou” typical GOTP nonsense.

A survey by CNN/Opinion Poll conducted on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and published on Monday, recorded 50% approval for Obama’s handling of the crisis, with 41% disapproving, and support for a no-fly zone climbing from 56% to 70% over the last week.

Those numbers seem familiar? Oh yeah, just around 50% of voters elected the President, and 41% is about the number of individuals glued to FOX PAC and listening to Limbaugh, Hannity, et al … to this 41%, there is nothing this President can ever do that will meet with any level of approval.

Following Roscoe’s example was chief Congressional hypocrite Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, another devout member of the GOTP, who has called on the President to “clearly define for the American people what vital United States security interests he believes are currently at stake in Libya”.

Sometimes Congresswoman we – the United States – have a moral obligation to step into blood baths like what was occurring in Libya, that was “interest”. This tie we’re really part of a U.N. mission, not making it up as we go along, nor lying about why we’re involved. Wow, that’s quite different from the time when you voted to support an unlawful and unconstitutional pre-emptive war in 2002. What exactly were the “vital United States security interests … at stake” in Iraq Congresswoman? Oh yeah, there were none!

Judge blocks Wisconsin law curbing labor rights

On Friday, Dane County Circuit Judge MaryAnn Sumi issued a restraining order stopping publication of a law signed last week by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) severely restricting state employee’s right to collective bargaining. The restraining order halts the procedural step essentially blocking the measure, which would go into effect once it is formally published.

The judge issued the order after Dane County’s Democratic District Attorney Ismael Ozanne filed a suit alleging the joint committee of the legislature violated the state’s open meeting law when it abruptly called a session to get the measure passed last week.

While Sumi’s ruling does not speak to the legal merits of the law, it states that Ozanne’s suit must be completed before the publication can move forward.

Phil Neuenfeldt, president of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, praised the judge’s action in an interview with the Associated Press, “Judge Sumi confirmed today what we knew all along — that the bill stripping hundreds of thousands of hard-working Wisconsinites of their voice on the job was rammed through illegally in the dark of the night.”

Sometimes the beauty of the system works. Sometimes men like Governor Walker, who think they can run a blind campaign deceiving the voters and then push through an agenda to destroy Unions because they believe they are the bane of everything good and wholesome in America’s free market system are checked, just as the state constitution was designed.

If Walker has proven anything, he’s proven one thing, he’s going to be a one term governor.

Rasmussen screws up another poll?

Latest poll numbers for the President show he’s doing a good job, except for one poll; anyone care to guess which polling group shows the exact polar opposite of five other major polling organizations? That’s right; it’s Rasmussen, the pollsters of FOX PAC!

Of polls conducted in the last week on the President’s approval:

Bloomberg = 51 approve – 43 disapprove

ABC/Washington Post = 51 approve – 45 disapprove

CNN = 50 approve – 47 disapprove

Gallup = 48 approve – 44 disapprove

Rasmussen = 42 approve – 56 disapprove

Come on guys, really? You’re going to be this transparent?

Of course, Rasmussen almost always polls significantly to the right of center. This means you can’t ever really trust Rasmussen’s polling numbers. And since Rasmussen is the exclusive poll of choice for FOX PAC, and FOX-type personalities, Rush, Hannity, O’Reilly et al, this means those viewers – or listeners – are being fed daily exactly the numbers they always want to hear; and it also means Rasmussen is never going to conduct legitimate polling because it’s never going to shoot the goose laying the golden eggs.

With the exception of the FOX PAC bought and paid for Rasmussen polling, which is so absurdly opposite everyone else numbers it’s laughable, President Obama is in very good shape midway through his first term, much better shape than Ronald Reagan was at the same midterm point when his numbers had fallen to around 40%. President Obama’s positive numbers are currently anywhere from 47% to 52%.

Sorry Rasmussen, sorry Rush, sorry FOX, perhaps you need to look at a broader demographic than polling mainly middle age to elderly, angry, white, male FOX PAC viewers.

Kansas State Representative Comes up with a Final Solution to Illegal Immigrants, Shoot Them Down Like Hogs?

Virgil Peck, a Kansas State Representative suggested yesterday during a House Appropriations Committee meeting that undocumented immigrants should be hunted down and shot, and yes he’s a Republican.

The Lawrence Journal World reports that during a debate on appropriations for controlling Kansas’ feral swine problem Peck suggested the problem could be handled by shooting them from helicopters.

But wait, there’s more, Peck continued his observation on shooting wild pigs – adding how he would solve the state’s illegal immigration problem too, “It looks like to me if shooting these immigrating feral hogs works, maybe we have found a [solution] to our illegal immigration problem.”

Of course Peck – in good old fashioned GOTP manner – has refused to acknowledge he might have spoken inappropriately, saying he was “just speaking like a southeast Kansas person” and that he expected no further controversy over his comment.

Is this yokel for real? He was speaking like a “southwest Kansas person”? So, by his comment we can assume people from southwest Kansas are racists?

Somos Republicanos, a national Hispanic Republican organization, has called for an apology saying, “We are sick and tired of the bigotry from state legislators who would rather advocate for violence and shooting people than to focus on reasonable solutions.  Hasn’t Mr. Peck learned from the mistakes of Sarah Palin when she put what appeared to be gun sight crosshairs over our Congresswoman, Gabby Gifford’s district?…In a time of extreme tension and occasional violence over illegal immigration, such as the slaughter of a Mexican-American family in Arizona including a nine-year old girl, allegedly by Minutemen, elected officials should refrain from the use of violent metaphors.”

Peck attempted to back pedal his way out by saying he was merely voicing the frustration his constituents feel about the lack of governmental response to illegal immigration.

So, when he said he was speaking as a “southwest Kansas person”, he was speaking as his constituents would speak? So, he was saying people from southwest Kansas were racists?

Of course, why should this surprise anyone? Kansas is, after all, the home of the Westboro Baptist Church, those fine upstanding Christian folks who protest military funerals claiming “God hates America” and he allows soldiers to be killed because “God hates faggots”.

Ah yes, the many faces of today’s Republican Party, the many faces of the conservative Midwest. Enjoy.

Congressman Is Going to Examine Islam in the United States?

OK, so let me get this straight, nearly a decade after the 9-11 terrorist attacks Congressman Peter King, yes a far right Republican (GOTP) has decided what the House of Representatives really needs to spend time, and money, on is to conduct hearings on radical Islam in the U.S.

Why stir a pot that most Americans want to move on from?

Why stand and scream, “HEY! LISTEN TO ME! THERE ARE MUSLIMS HERE IN AMERICA AND WE NEED TO PERSECUTE THEM!”

Why hold hearings now? Because Mr. King is – in every sense of the Shakespearean annotation – an ass; as in a jackass; as in a dumb animal braying for everyone to pay attention to him, and because the GOTP is in charge of the House, and King (aka Skippy the talking jackass) now has the power to call attention to the issue as chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, that’s why.

Skippy has told The Associated Press that “radical Islam is a distinct threat that must be investigated regardless of whose sensibilities are offended”.

“You have a violent enemy from overseas which threatens us and which is recruiting people from a community living in our country. That’s … what this hearing’s going to be,” he brayed.

According to the AP, “in the past two years, authorities say there have been more terrorist plots uncovered or attacks foiled than during the final seven years of Bush’s presidency.

Gee, some would probably deduce it’s the result of better law enforcement – and by instances of Islamic community leaders helping the authorities. You see, that’s what happens when you stop torturing people, and suspending habeas corpus, they actually start helping you. They help you with viable, real intelligence, instead of telling you what they think you want to hear.

Unfortunately, when you up the ante and you start persecuting people for their religion you play right into the very hands of the people you’re claiming to be fighting.

On the bright side, House GOTP leaders don’t seem very excited about all this and it’s a pretty fair bet they don’t want anything this inflammatory distracting the country from more important matters, though exactly what those are with this group who can tell? Certainly not jobs; and probably not the economy, but more than likely important issues mean stopping abortion, and overturning the health care law, and reinstating Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, basically anything to do with anything the President is in favor of.

Now, “Radicalized Muslims” have been the centerpiece of at least a dozen congressional hearings on violent extremism since 9-11. The latest push, however, coming from Skippy, a far right wing GOTP type who has repeatedly brayed that America has too many mosques and that as many as 85 percent of Muslim leaders were not cooperating with authorities is unsettling. King is not looking for answers, he’s looking to make a name for himself, and to reignite Islamic phobia in the country. There is no other explanation. One has to wonder, “What’s next, a set of hearings on far left communists’ infiltrators in the State Department?”
