FOX “News” anchor suggests President Obama threatened Chelsea Clinton’s Life?

So-called “fair and balanced” FOX “News” has a huge credibility problem; it seems weekend anchor Heather Childers twittered a link to a story from an uber-conservative blog suggesting the Obama campaign may have threatened to murder Chelsea Clinton during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Childers reportedly tweeted a blog post from godfatherpolitics.com titled, “Did Barack Obama Campaign Threaten Life of Chelsea Clinton to Keep Parents Silent on Obama’s Ineligibility?”

The “article” suggests someone “associated” with the President’s 2008 election campaign threatened to kill Chelsea Clinton should President Clinton talk about “Obama’s birth certificate or lack thereof.”

Because a junior senator from Illinois could do that and get away with it; are you serious? Yeah the United States Secret Service which still protects former President Clinton and his family would’ve just gone along with that. Of course the blog (rag) doesn’t offer anything as proof of this claim, but you don’t have to do that in right-wing world.

So, Childers’ source for her tweet, how credible is it, and what are some of the other riveting headlines from godfatherpolitics.com?

Well, how about “President Obama Channels Joseph Stalin and Attacks Supreme Court Justices”?

Or try this one, “Alabama Supreme Court Justice Says Barack Obama Birth Certificate Would Not Stand Up in Court.”

Why do I envision a creepy kid sitting on a porch playing a banjo when I read stuff like this?

This is absurdity run amok and of course a FOX “News” employee has picked up the ball and run with it. Why? Because the folks at FOX “News” are the biggest sufferers of Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS) and the biggest “legitimate” news organization to perpetuate far-right conspiracy theories such as the birther craze.

FOX “News” is anything but a legitimate news organization and it’s the farthest thing from being “fair and balanced”. I think of my Dad’s advice that when a company trumpets something loud and long it’s usually its weakest point.

FOX is where uber-conservatives go to get their daily fill of propaganda and “news”; of course that’s all interspersed with extremely heavy doses of right wing talk radio throughout the day from the likes of Rush “she’s a slut” Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Is it any wonder in a recent poll of Americans on the question of keeping troops in Afghanistan 75% were opposed while 25% were in favor of it; what’s the rough percentage of FOX viewers? Yep, you guessed it, about 25%.

Childers should be sent packing, but of course knowing FOX she’ll probably get her own weeknight prime time show for her excellence in broadcast journalism.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – (pre-Wisconsin Primary) 2 April 12 Edition

So, the topsy turvy world known as the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential primary may finally be coming to a close (or not). Tomorrow conservative Wisconsinites will trudge to their polling places and cast votes for their “favorite” candidate in their state’s Winner Take All Primary with its 42 delegates. For Richard John Santorum this is one of his final – if not the final – opportunities to stick it to Willard Mitt Romney.

Not an easy thing to do since the latest PPP (D) poll results of likely voters conducted 31 Mar – 1 Apr 12 is anything but rosy for him: Romney 43; Santorum 36; Paul 11 and Gingrich 8.

After Wisconsin the remaining primaries tend to favor Romney, but if Santorum can simply keep Willard from winning more than an averaged 33% of the delegates and thus prevent him from winning the nomination outright, perhaps he can send everything into a brokered convention and somehow come out on top; of course his “other” strategy may simply be to weaken Romney enough that he loses to President Obama making it easier for Santorum to run again in 2016 as Willard’s political career will be effectually over.

The regular season primary records for the Confederacy of Dunces stands: Romney 21; Santorum 10; Gingrich 2 and “What’s His Name” 0.

The GOTP Delegate Count (1,144 needed to win) to date is: Romney 566; Santorum 263; Gingrich 140 and Paul 67.

The current GOTP Popular Vote Count is:

Romney 4,128,980

Santorum 2,850,633

Gingrich 2,212,048

Paul 1,079,897

Yes, while it remains true Willard’s leading with 4,128,9980 the harsh reality is more votes have still been cast for anyone but him; total of all other votes cast = 6,142,578; yeah he may be winning but when you realize more fellow conservatives would rather have anyone but you, it still sucks to be Mitt.

Nationally, the GOTP Nomination according to the latest Gallup Tracking poll of registered voters conducted 28 Mar – 1 Apr 12: Romney 43; Santorum 25; Gingrich 11 and Paul 10 with 11% unconvinced any of these guys can do the job.

So, how do the four Political Marx Brothers stack up against the President? The latest USA Today/Gallup poll of registered voters conducted 25 – 26 Mar 12; if the general election were held today:

President Obama 49/Romney 45

President Obama 51/Santorum 43

One more time, if the GOTP clown car had finally came to a wild spinning stop, and the general election was held today, Willard Mitt Romney would be the GOTP nominee, and he’d lose to President Obama in the general election.

Mitt’s up to his whatsit in pink slime?

From the “why am I not surprised” file, it’s being reported the founder of Beef Products, known for its production of “pink slime,” is – wait for it – a major donor to Republican Tea party (GOTP) presidential “wants it so bad he’ll literally say anything” hopeful Willard Mitt Romney.

It appears “pink slime” creator Eldon Roth held a Sioux Falls fundraiser for Romney last year and donated $190,000 to Willard’s campaign in 2010, Politico reports, and as it turns out, Roth  also donated to Romney’s 2008 campaign.

But, what really adds sauce to the goose is Willard held Roth up as the classic American business success story in his definitive 2010 autobiography, “No Apology,” aka “I’m Fabulously Wealthy and You Suck Because You’re Not”:

“America’s industries and domestic markets are, in fact, breeding grounds for innovation. A young Eldon Roth held a blue-collar job in a cold-storage plant where beef was frozen soon after it was butchered. His idea: Instead of slowly freezing the meat in walk-in freezers, why not place the beef on conveys and pass it between two supercold drums, instantly freezing it to lock in flavor? Eldon now owns a very large jet. Far more important than that, he has created hundreds of jobs.”

You can almost hear his Mind Captain add, “as well as having created a beef-like substitute for the masses made from the low cost fattier parts of whatever is left over after we get our prime cuts, treated with ammonium hydroxide”.

Of course this won’t trouble Romney, it’s not like the donation’s really big or anything, it’s only a trivial amount; and as far as the pink slime goes, what’s the big deal, it’s not like it’s served in America’s prep schools?

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 29 Mar 12 Edition

So, the up and down, twisting and turning roller coaster ride also known as the 2012 Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential primary tour continues rather than abating with Richard John “Rick” Santorum winning the Louisiana Proportional Primary (46 delegates) with 49% (10 delegates); Willard Mitt Romney 27.7% (5 delegates) and the other two guys were there somewhere.

Next up is Wisconsin’s Winner Take All Primary – 3 Apr 12 (42 delegates) where in order to maintain some kind of believability Santorum must win, becoming – according to polls – an uphill battle: new Marquette University poll of likely voters conducted 22 – 25 Mar 12; Romney 39 and Santorum 31.

The regular season primary records for the Confederacy of Dunces stands: Romney 21; Santorum 10; Gingrich 2 and “What’s His Name” 0.

The GOTP Delegate Count (1,144 needed to win) to date is: Romney 565; Santorum 256; Gingrich 141 and Paul 66.

Mitt tells humorous story of people being fired?

Multiple news reports are surfacing that Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential frontrunner Willard Mitt Romney has put his silver in his mouth again, demonstrating once again his awkward sense of humor, and his seemingly inability to realize how out of touch with Americans’ economic struggles he really truly is.

Case in point; during a tele-town hall meeting with Wisconsin voters Willard decided it would be a great idea to share what he thought was a “humorous” story about his father shutting down a factory in Michigan and moved production to Wisconsin, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “One of [the] most humorous I think relates to my father. You may remember my father, George Romney, was president of an automobile company called American Motors. … They had a factory in Michigan, and they had a factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and another one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And as the president of the company he decided to close the factory in Michigan and move all the production to Wisconsin. Now later he decided to run for governor of Michigan and so you can imagine that having closed the factory and moved all the production to Wisconsin was a very sensitive issue to him, for his campaign.”

One can almost imagine what his inside voice was saying, “And the real funny part of this was when my father turned to the plant manager and … giggle … he said … snort, giggle … you’re fired! Boy I tell you … giggle … by golly, you should have seen the look on his face!”

Willard’s “humorous anecdote” was just another case of trying to say whatever it takes to win a nomination; “Let’s see, today I’m in Wisconsin, ah yes, I have just the right humorous story to relate to the voters here.” Problem is, Willard just doesn’t get that those who are trying to survive really don’t find it’s very “humorous” to lose your job.

This isn’t the first time Willard’s stepped into this problem, in January, he joked about how he liked “being able to fire people who provide services to me.”

This isn’t a case of “Mitt doesn’t get it”, it’s a case of “Willard can’t get it”; he’s clearly incapable of relating to any class of people not exchanging Grey Poupon through limo windows.

Newt’s sugar daddy says he’s done?

Various news reports are saying Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential “no way it’s ever going to happen” hopeful Newton Leroy Gingrich’s being told he’s done, and Newton’s sugar daddy, casino magnate Sheldon Adelson’s apparently lost any hope in his electoral prospects; that’s pretty much the end when your one chief – if not only – backer decides you’re done. To date Adelson has reportedly poured about $16.5 million down the Gingrich drain.

Adelson’s conceded his “golden boy’s” basically got no chance of winning the GOTP nomination, “It appears as though [Gingrich is] at the end of his line. Because mathematically he can’t get anywhere near the numbers [of delegates required to gain the nomination], and there’s unlikely to be a brokered convention.”

Of course even if there’s a brokered convention who outside of Newt and Callista really believes he’d ever – in a million years – be the GOTP nominee?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Newton’s never had a chance; he’s not just damaged goods, he’s the box that fell out of the UPS truck on the interstate overpass and got pummeled by every other vehicle for the next three hours until there’s nothing left. He’s a failed former House Speaker who resigned in disgrace; a failed former House Speaker who had not one, but at least two extra-marital affairs, while prosecuting a President for lying about an affair; a failed former House Speaker who didn’t just have affairs but who also asked for an “open marriage” and who told one wife he was divorcing her while she was undergoing chemotherapy, all while trumpeting – wait for it – “family values”; yeah, like he ever had a chance; but hopefully he sticks around for awhile if only to annoy Willard.

Romney supports Walker?

Talk about saying whatever it takes to win a nomination, according to news reports, Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wannabee Willard Mitt Romney has told Wisconsin voters he supports embattled Governor Scott Walker.

“Governor Walker is, in my opinion, an excellent governor,” Romney said, according to a report by ABC News. “And I believe that he is right to stand up for the citizens of Wisconsin and to insist that those people who are working in the public sector unions have rights to affect their wages but that these benefits and retiree benefits have fallen out of line with the capacity of the state to pay them.”

“And so I support the governor in his effort to rein in the excesses that have permeated the public sector union and government negotiations over the years,” Romney said.

Clearly Willard doesn’t understand the facts concerning Wisconsin’s financial woes, such as they were created by, wait for it, tax cuts to the wealthy and tax breaks to Walker supporters which created a monstrous deficit Walker tried to blame on school teachers, nurses, cops and firemen; hence the recall. Once again Romney is going after those evil public sector employees who are single handedly responsible for the financial downfall of America. Those darned teachers with their exorbitant salaries and retirement packages.

Of course Willard seems oblivious to the recall campaign being waged against Walker; he’s either as obtuse on these matters as he appears or he’s willing to side with an uber-conservative governor who’s fighting for his political life in an attempt to appear more conservative than Rick Santorum; eventually he has to come back towards sanity, aka the middle, and Wisconsin voters aren’t likely to forget his full throated support of Walker.

Medvedev tells Romney to look at a calendar once in awhile?

According to news reports Russian President Dmitry Medvedev responded to Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential frontrunner Willard Mitt Romney and his fellow political comedians (also known as GOTP presidential candidates) saying they need to flip their calendars out of the Cold War and stop making Russia out to be America’s “No. 1 enemy.”

“I always get very cautious when I see a country resort to phrasings such as ‘No. 1 enemy.’ It is very reminiscent of Hollywood in a certain period of history,” Medvedev said, through a translator, at the nuclear security summit in Seoul, South Korea.

He also said presidential candidates need “to listen to reason when they formulate their positions,” adding, “Reason never harmed a presidential candidate.”

The Russian President was responding to questions from the press about Romney’s declaration that Russia was “without question, our No. 1 geopolitical foe,” after an “open mic” incident involving Medvedev and President Barack Obama.

“My other advice is to check their clocks from time to time,” Medvedev said. “It is 2012, not the mid-1970s. No matter what party a candidate represents, he has to take the current state of affairs into account.”

Medvedev is exactly right, the GOTP candidates – particularly Romney – need to stop acting like its 1980 and the “Evil Empire” still exists; Romney’s in no way Ronald Reagan, and he really needs to stop running as though he were; of course it would help if his audience would also come into the 21st century.

Santorum justifies swearing?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopeful Richard John “Rick” Santorum is reportedly defending having cursed at New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny on Fox News as normal for a “real Republican.”

“If you haven’t cursed out a New York Times reporter during the course of a campaign, you’re not really a real Republican, is the way I look at it,” he said on “Fox & Friends.”

So, “Real Republicans” use foul language? The only way to be a “real Republican” is to swear and rant at reporters?

Reportedly Zeleny asked Santorum about comments he made in Wisconsin that Romney was the “worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama.”

“You said Mitt Romney is the worst Republican in the country,” said Zeleny. “Is that true?”

“Stop lying,” Santorum said irately, pointing his finger at him, claiming that he was only talking about Romney’s health care positions. “Quit distorting my words … if I see it, it’s bullsh*t.”

“It was just one of these harassing moments, and after having answered the question a few times, sort of comes back with the same old question, the same old spin. I just said, ‘Okay, I’ve had enough of this you-know-what.’ And so that’s what I did. Look, we’re out there slugging away. We’re the candidate out there that’s mixing it up, and we’re mixing it up.”

It’s understood the Tea Party rabble on the uber-right of today’s Republican party enjoy it when their candidates “mix it up” with reporters, but it isn’t particularly presidential to swear at them, or to lose one’s temper at legitimate questions, and it doesn’t speak well of the party of so-called “family values”.

Part of the “vetting” process of our presidential candidates is getting to see how they react under the daily pressure of campaigning; it allows the voter to get a glimpse of how the men and women wanting to be president will react to the ongoing demands of the job.

An “undoing” moment for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 bid for the Democratic Presidential nomination occurred when she broke down and began to cry, it may have made her look more feminine but it didn’t look presidential.

Santorum has these ongoing back and forth moments between looking viable and looking sophomoric, and right now he’s leaning over sideways to sophomoric.

Santorum Condemns ‘Pretend its Obama’ Comment

It’s being reported that while Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopeful Rick Santorum was visiting a firing range, during a campaign stop in West Monroe, Louisiana, taking a few shots at paper targets in front of an applauding group of supporters (cue the banjos) a woman called out (why am I not surprised), “Pretend it’s Obama!”

Because he was wearing hearing protection Santorum didn’t hear the moronic statement, and much to his credit he later told reporters he was glad he hadn’t heard it.

“It’s absurd,” he said. “No, we’re not pretending it’s anybody, but shooting pistols. It’s a very terrible and horrible remark, and I’m glad I didn’t hear it.”

This is one of those moments which defines a man’s character and adds to his stature and I applaud Santorum for standing up and saying the comment was wrong. It will no doubt cost him some votes with the type of people who say such things but in a tight primary season he did the right thing.

I like these little moments when I can see what his real values are, and that he knows when something is wrong. I disagree with most of what Rick Santorum believes in politically but I have a great deal of respect for him as a person and as a candidate because unlike other GOTP candidates his core values apparently can’t be shaken away and redrawn.
