Big Bird to get the boot under Romney?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopeful Mittens Romney mewed this week while campaigning in Iowa that under his administration spending for public television would be cut saying Big Bird should be supported by advertisements and that the arts will need to get more private donations to stay afloat.

We’re not going to kill Big Bird,” Romney said during a campaign stop in Clinton, Iowa. Mittens made the promise while touting his plans to drastically cut federal spending, under which he would slash $500 billion dollars a year from the budget by the end of his first term.

Romney stressed the need to cut even popular programs and singled out the National Endowment for the Arts and the Public Broadcasting Corporation as entities that would have to seek private funding in a Romney administration.

“Big Bird is going to have advertisements, all right?” said Romney. “And we’re going to have endowments for the arts and humanities, but they’re going to be paid for by private charity, not by taxpayers.”

“But don’t you worry about those obsolete weapons systems,” Romney’s Brain Captain continued. “There’ll be no cutting of defense spending under a Romney presidency; we’ve got to prepare for war with the Persian Empire!”

Romney said he has a litmus test for determining what would stay and what would go under his budgets, “My test is, is a program so critical that it’s worth borrowing money from China to pay for it?”

So, protecting the top 1% against tax increases is OK, and barrowing to spend for continuing escalation of hostilities between us and anyone Mittens decides is right is OK, but poor kids being able to watch Sesame Street is not OK.

According to the Huffington Post, the public broadcasting funds represent a minuscule portion of the federal budget. The Congressional Budget Office said this year that eliminating NPR’s $5 million in federal funds from the budget would have “no effect.”

So, Mittens is banging his chest about how he’ll cut programs that won’t affect the budget or the deficit – typical GOTP tactics of class and culture warfare; “There’s no money for bullets because those poor kids are sponging off of tax payers to watch Thomas the Tank Engine,” Mitten’s Brain Captain screamed. “The madness has got to stop”!

And then there were six

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) never had a snow ball’s chance presidential hopeful Michele “Krazy” Bachman has ended her Quixotic bid for the White House; during a press conference Krazy said her last-place Iowa caucus was essentially the nail in her political coffin. Of course anyone with half a grain of common sense understood from the beginning that Bachmann never stood any chance whatsoever of winning the nomination much less the White House, she’s certifiable, and that finally caught up with her; the longer the race dragged on the more opportunities she had to let her Krazy shine through.

Of course with Bachmann gone, that leaves her supporters with only one logical choice in the continuing GOTP contest, and that choice is Ricky Santorum; the very same Ricky who’s trying to establish himself as the one clear conservative heavyweight in the GOTP race, as Mittens is not now, nor ever has been a conservative.

Santorum essentially tied with caucus winner Mitt Romney (the margin was eight votes) thus suddenly becoming the non-Romney contender for the presidential nomination. But will his rise be for real or merely the latest in a long list including Perry, Cain and Gingrich? Look for Santorum to begin to receive increased funding from the evangelical right, and to begin to draw attention to the stark political differences between Mittens and himself. Of course, odds are he’ll quickly implode now that he’ll be receiving the full media attention of a “front runner”.

As for Bachmann’s departure; at least we’ll all be spared her continually petulant whinny voice; but never-the-less we’ll miss her – to use Mitt’s word – zany antics. Good-bye Krazy, adieu, auf wiedersehen, farewell …

Pat Robertson says God revealed the next president to him, but, shhhhh, it’s a secret

He’s at it again, the man who would be Moses, Pat Robertson, says God has told him who the next president will be — but it’s a secret.

The televangelist has revealed he spent nearly a week in prayer, asking God to “show me something” – yes, he was sign seeking.

“I think He showed me the next president, but I’m not supposed to talk about that,” Robertson explained. “So I’ll leave you in the dark — probably just as well — I think I’ll know who it will be.”

Clearly there’s a disconnect in Robertson’s so-called Christianity; in Matthew 12 we learn what the Lord thinks of sign seekers, “Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

“But he answered and said unto them, an evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign…”

So, not only does Robertson place himself willingly into the camp of “an adulterous and evil generation”, but if he received a “revelation”? Well, if Jesus declared people who were seeking signs were both “evil and adulterous” I think it’s fair to assume God didn’t provide the info. I find it very amusing someone like Robertson, who claims to be a Christian minister, could be so willfully ignorant of the words of Jesus Christ.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 2 Jan 12 (Iowa Caucus Eve) Edition

Concerning the ongoing GOTP nominating circus (Iowa Caucus Edition), a new Insider Advantage poll of likely voters conducted New Year’s Day has been released:

Romney holds on to a very narrow lead in Iowa as Santorum remains strong as surprising third; Romney 23; Paul 22; Santorum 18; Gingrich 16; Perry 10; Bachmann 6 and Huntsman 2

The interesting thought is, the last poll in Iowa pitting Romney against the President found Mittens the loser by 7 points; NBC News/Marist poll of registered voters conducted 27 – 29 Nov 11: President Obama 46/Romney 39. So, there’s lots of talk in Iowa from Romney and the other six political dwarves about how any of them can beat the President in 2012, but the polling state by state doesn’t come close to bearing out that prediction; in fact current polling on state levels show the President with 338 electoral votes (270 needed to win) and Romney with 200.

Granted a lot can happen in the next 11 months, but if Romney wins the GOTP nomination he’s going to have to run to the center (flip) to win the general election, and the Tea Party portion of the GOTP isn’t going to support that; if he suddenly becomes a moderate again (flop) we may see a third party candidacy from Bachmann, Perry or any number of conservatives.

When Mitt starts trying to be a moderate candidate (flip) look for countless ads demonstrating that he’s a political chameleon – changing colors as needed to win – with no real core values whatsoever; Romney is not electable; he’s not likeable and he flip-flops more than a freshly landed trout; if he’s the candidate – barring a great depression style economic collapse – he loses, and he loses big.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 30 Dec 11 Edition

Concerning the ongoing GOTP nominating circus, a new Gallup Tracking poll of registered voters conducted 23 – 29 Dec 11 has been released and the current poll results are:

Mittens Romney 26; Newton “Benny Hill” Gingrich 24; Ronny Paul 11; Reverend Rick Perry 7; Michele “Krazy” Bachmann and Ricky “The Ric” Santorum 5 and Jon “I can’t believe it’s not butter” Huntsman 2

The GOTP clown car continues to careen wildly down the campaign trail with Mittens taking over the driving and Newton being shoved aside; Paul’s holding on in a weak third place while Reverend Perry moves up to fourth and Krazy moves back to fall in a tie at fifth with Santorum as Huntsman continues to loiter about at bottom-dwelling mud sucker status.

Romney somehow moves into the lead in Iowa as Santorum pushes up to a surprising third where a new NBC News/Marist poll of likely voters conducted 27 – 28 Dec 11 reports Romney 23; Paul 21; Santorum 15; Perry 14; Gingrich 13; Bachmann 6 and Huntsman 2

Romney holds onto his very solid lead in New Hampshire where the new CNN/Time poll of likely voters conducted 21 – 27 Dec 11 shows Mittens 44; Paul 17; Gingrich 16; Huntsman 9; Santorum 4; Bachmann 3 and Perry 2

Newton holds on In South Carolina where the latest Clemson poll of likely voters conducted 6 – 19 Dec 11 find Gingrich 38; Romney 21; Paul 10; Perry and Bachmann 5; Huntsman 3 and Santorum 2

Romney takes the lead in Florida where the new TelOpinion (R) poll of registered voters conducted on 15 – 19 Dec 11 has Romney 27; Gingrich 26; Paul 5; Perry and Bachmann 4; Huntsman and Santorum 1

In the four states with the lead off primaries – or caucuses – Romney now leads in three to Gingrich’s 1

Concerning how the GOTP “candidates stack up against the President; according to a very suspicious Rasmussen Reports poll of likely voters conducted 27 – 28 Dec 11, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 39/Romney 45

President Obama 47/Gingrich 47

Suddenly Mittens surges ahead of the President in a Rasmussen poll days before the Iowans crown their choice to lead the GOTP race, this is more than a little suspicious and as with every Rasmussen poll, where the President is concerned, should be taken with a very large grain of salt.

So, if the GOTP clown car had finally stopped spinning, and the general election was held today, and if the Rasmussen polls can be trusted (very doubtful) Mittens Romney would be the GOTP nominee, and would beat President Obama in the general election.

Romney says Gingrich campaign’s a sitcom?

According to the Associated Press (AP), Republican Tea Party (GOTP) perpetual presidential bridesmaid, Mittens Romney is comparing Newton Gingrich’s campaign to the 1950’s sitcom, “I Love Lucy”.

Mittens mewed about Newton during a stop in New Hampshire, knocking the former House speaker for likening his trouble getting onto Virginia’s primary ballot to attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

“I think he compared that to … what was it, Pearl Harbor? I think it’s more like Lucille Ball at the chocolate factory,” Mittens mewed, referring to the episode where the homemaker Lucy switches places with her husband for a day and is humorously overwhelmed as chocolates fly past her on an assembly line. “You’ve got to get it organized.”

GOTP officials in Virginia announced over the weekend that Gingrich had failed to submit enough signatures to get on the ballot for the state’s March 6 primary. In a post on Facebook, campaign manager Michael Krull compared the situation to the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor in December 1941.

Wow, really? So, GOTP officials are the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor because the yokels on the Gingrich campaign can’t get their collective acts together? How pathetic. What this demonstrates is how flat footed Newton’s team really is; he never seriously expected to be in a position to be challenging Mittens for the nomination and the three ring circus he calls a campaign is proof positive of that with Gingrich wearing the red nose and big floppy shoes. If the Newt campaign resembles any kind of TV show however it’s not “I Love Lucy”, it’s “Benny Hill”.

Perry says if you get raped and become pregnant, too bad …

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wannabe Reverend Rick Perry’s shifting his opposition to abortion, saying he opposes it even after rape or incest.

Previously, the Reverend believed abortion was acceptable in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is at risk. Now that he’s fallen dismally behind in the polls, he says abortion in all forms should be prohibited.

Perry told a pastor who asked him about his views that, in his words, “you’re seeing a transformation.”

And it’s a transformation out of the necessity to sellout to the far-right evangelicals in hopes of picking up primary votes.

Perry says he recently watched former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s documentary about abortion. He says he met a woman in the film and that she told him she was the result of rape and that her life has worth.

Perry says that encounter led him to rethink his position.

Very interesting, so every woman who is ever raped should never have the option of terminating the pregnancy? This is the America of today’s GOTP; it’s an America where evangelical Christian Shariah law prevails; if you’re a woman and you vote Republican in 2012, and you get raped and can’t have an abortion, blame yourself.

Mittens Says ‘We Would Not Have Gone In’ If We Knew There Were No Weapons of Mass Destruction?

Huffington Post is reporting Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential bridesmaid Mittens Romney, speaking to NBC News’ Chuck Todd, seemed to shift positions on the Iraq War.

As highlighted by New York Magazine‘s Jonathan Chait, Mittens attempted to explain to Todd, “If we knew at the time of our entry into Iraq that there were no weapons of mass destruction, if somehow we had been given that information, obviously we would not have gone in.”

“You don’t think we would have gone in?” asked Todd.

“Well of course not,” Mittens mewed in response. “The president went in based upon intelligence that they had weapons of mass destruction. Had he known that that was not the case; the U.N. would not have put forward resolutions authorizing this type of action. The president would not have been pursuing that course. But we did not know that. Based upon what we knew at the time, we were very much under the impression as a nation, our president was under the impression, that they had weapons of mass destruction that Saddam Hussein was intent on potentially using those weapons, and so he took action based upon what he knew. But to go back and say, well knowing what we know now would we have gone in? Well, knowing what we know now, they did not have weapons of mass destruction; there would have been no effort on the part of our president or others to take military action.”

Of course when Mittens was running for the GOTP nomination in 2008 he took a much different position on the conflict; The New York Times, moderator Tim Russert asked Romney during a 2008 presidential debate if the Iraq War was “a good idea worth the cost in blood and treasure we have spent.” Romney answered, “It was the right decision to go into Iraq. I supported it at the time; I support it now.” As Chait explains, Romney’s debate answer came at a time when it was already clear that Iraq possessed no weapons of mass destruction.

Huffington reports Mittens’ latest comments come only a few days after the U.S. marked the end of the nearly nine year conflict. The GOTP wannabe hasn’t been shy in his criticism of President Obama’s handling of the troop withdrawal. Recently, BBC News reported Romney said, “I think we’re going to find that this president, by not putting in place a status-of-forces agreement with the Iraqi leadership, has pulled our troops out in a precipitous way and we should have left 10-, 20-, 30,000 personnel there to help transition to the Iraqis’ own military capabilities.”

Mittens thinks he can say whatever he wants to whomever he wants and that there’re no consequences; in today’s media savvy electronic world that’s simply not the case and it’s going to bite him in the butt. Romney’s a flip-flopper of the highest order and that demonstrates a level of untrustworthiness that should concern all Americans because the last thing this country needs is a President who has no moral compass and flies by the seat of his pants on every issue.

Johnson Ends GOTP Candidacy to Run For President in the Libertarian Party?

Huffington Post’s reporting Republican Tea Party (GOTP) never a presidential candidate Gary Johnson, is dropping his GOTP campaign to run for the Libertarian Party nomination.

Johnson plans to announce his candidacy for the Libertarian nomination next week, spokesman Joe Hunter said Tuesday night.

“He is representing a viewpoint and a viewpoint that needs to be heard and he’s going to do whatever it takes to get that done,” Hunter told The Associated Press.

Johnson’s a fiscal conservative who supports such liberal causes as legalizing marijuana and abortion rights; he served two terms as New Mexico’s governor, and has basically been absent in any polls. Excluded from all but two of the GOP presidential debates, he’s reportedly grown frustrated that he hasn’t earned more attention, Hunter said.

Considering how badly he sucked in the two debate appearances, is either Johnson or Hunter really surprised he’s garnered zero support outside of New Mexico?

Republican presidential contender Ron Paul, who was the Libertarian candidate for president in 1988, was supportive of Johnson’s decision.

“I think competitiveness is good. And somebody to have ideas that are libertarian, I think that is good,” Paul told the AP following a New Hampshire campaign stop Tuesday night. “But I’ve been through it. There’s a lot of frustrations. … Just getting on ballots – it’s a tough job. But some good will come of it.”

In a recent PPP (D) poll, conducted 10 – 12 Dec 11 of likely New Mexico voters the results showed a split among conservative voters with President Obama garnering 44%, Mittens Romney 27% and Johnson 23%, giving the President a huge victory in what has become a swing state.

RUN GARY RUN!

I’m Not a Politician!?

Huffington Post is reporting that Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential doormat Michele “Krazy” Bachmann is repeating over and over again that she’s “not a politician”.

“I am not a politician. I am a real person. I don’t even know how to be a politician,” she said outside a high school in Grundy Center, Iowa, according to CNN.

“I’m not a politician, I’m just drawn that way,” her Toon Town alter ego declared.

Krazy – the “non-politician” – is in her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives and served in the Minnesota state Senate before that from 2001 to 2007.

She added, “That is why I am in trouble all the time in Washington, D.C., because I am constantly fighting the establishment in Washington, D.C.” She repeated the “not a politician” line at another campaign stop, writing it on a cafe wall.

Of course the fact she’s dumb as a stump, and makes completely off the wall comments has nothing to do with her being in trouble “all the time in Washington”.

Bachmann’s been done for months, and just keeps gasping on like a fish in a tidal pond slowly running out of water.
