GOTP candidates blow off Hispanics

According to the Huffington Post, Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman were all invited to attend and address the annual conference of National Council of La Raza, the largest Latino organization in the nation.

All five GOTP candidates chose not attend. Wow, really? Conservatives chose to blow off the largest Hispanic organization in the country?

“To me, that sets a signal that we’re not a priority,” said National Council of La Raza President Janet Murguia. “And quite frankly, when you look at the actions that have been occurring by the leaders of the Republican Party, it is, I think, alarming for us in the Latino community.”

Point is, it’s about race and Hispanics are the wrong race. Prove me wrong. Oh wait, you can’t. Conservative presidential candidates won’t attend La Raza because they’re afraid voters on the right will be put off. They’re afraid uber-conservative voters will see attending the conference as being weak on illegal immigration. That’s why. They – the uber-conservatives – don’t like Hispanics, to some they should all go home, even though many more of them have lived here a lot longer than the Palins, Romneys, Bachmanns, Pawlentys, Gingrichs, Perrys and Huntsmans.

The smart thing would have been for Jon Huntsman, who doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance of winning the GOTP nomination, to accept the invitation and to attend and speak and come across as the smart new Republican. Someone on his staff should have said, “Governor, this will make you look good; you’ll be the only conservative there, and you’ll be the only Mormon candidate there. It’s a political coup.” But, unfortunately there appear to be no smart staffers working for the candidates just frightened little children cowering from the shadow of the big bad Tea Party.

Boehner says the GOTP is ready to act alone on debt deal?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) House Speaker John Boehner has apparently been paying one too many visits to his friendly neighborhood tavern. He is claiming that the GOTP has readied a plan to prevent the first government default in U.S. history and said the GOTP would act alone if Democrats didn’t go along.

Pure political grand standing; that’s like saying grandma was going to eat the corn on the cob with our without her dentures; sorry to puncture the Speaker’s thought bubble, but the GOTP House can pass whatever it wants, but it can’t go any further without the Democrats – who thankfully control both the Senate and the White House, and President Obama has said he’ll veto any GOTP plan which fails to extend the nation’s borrowing power into 2013.

Boehner’s plan would reportedly cut spending by at least $1 trillion (if you recall the President asked for $4 trillion in cuts – too much for the “we’ve got to cut spending” GOTP – and extend the federal borrowing limit by a slightly smaller dollar amount, into 2012. Why can’t he go for $4 trillion in cuts and pas the extension into 2013? It’s simple; Boehner doesn’t have control of his party, the Tea Party – led by Eric Cantor do.

“I would prefer to have a bipartisan approach to solve this problem. If that is not possible, I and my Republican colleagues in the House are prepared to move on our own,” Boehner said.

Where do think they’re moving to all alone? Defeat in 2012 quite probably. Facts are there are more Democratic voters (72 million registered in 2004) in the U.S than Republicans (55 million) with Independents a close third (42 million) and the latter are moderates not rabid far right uber-conservative ideologues. Boehner may be one of the few Speakers to only hold the gavel for one rotation of the electoral wheel. He’s on course to become the largest failure in that position since Newt Gingrich.

White House chief of staff William Daley has reportedly said President Obama is insisting any package must expand the debt ceiling beyond the next presidential and congressional elections and into 2013 to provide economic certainty. Daley said anything short would be a gimmick and prompt the world to say: “These people just can’t get their act together.”

Well, the world would be right – at least where the GOTP is concerned. The current conservative House ran on jobs, and has yet to produce one bill to help fix unemployment. It has however submitted more than 100 bills aimed at limiting Roe v. Wade.

“There will be a two-stage process. It’s just not physically possible to do all of this in one step,” Boehner said amid White House insistence that the debt limit be extended beyond 2012. “I know the president is worried about his next election. But, my God, shouldn’t he be worried about the country?”

Well Boehner that’s the pot calling the kettle black now isn’t it. Shouldn’t the Republican Tea Party Congress be more worried about the country than in defeating the President? Maybe the Speaker should talk to Senator McConnell about those ideas; after all it was the Minority Leader who insisted his most important job was to defeat the President, to keep Barrack Obama from being re-elected.

Problem is simple; GOTP doesn’t want to do anything that might help the President. Its members don’t care about the country. The GOTP talks the talk about honor and duty and country and then proposes slashing the benefits of the Greatest Generation to the poverty level while protecting the tax loop holes and lower taxes of the rich.

Boehner is one of the worse Speakers in the nation’s history and he knows his position is extremely tenuous, and he’s ready and willing to do anything to retain the Speakership. He is not concerned with cutting the debt or the deficit; if he were truly concerned he would have taken the President’s $4 trillion proposal and run with it. But to do so would have helped the President, it’s as simple as that. He’s as phony as his tear streaked tan.

Boehner wants a two-part deal?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) House Speaker John Boehner told FOX PAC Sunday he’s working to get out a two-part plan to raise the nation’s debt limit, but he can’t say whether it will include Democratic support.

How many times does the GOTP House have to pass some nonsensical bill that gets slapped down in the Senate before they get it through their collective idiocy that any bill starting in the House eventually has to “include Democratic support”?

Boehner said he hopes to have a bipartisan approach to solve the problem, but he’s ready to move forward with a Republican plan if a deal couldn’t be reached.

Why would he be ready to move forward if a deal can’t be reached? Because he’s hoping to be able to pin any economic disaster resulting from a national default on the President, that’s why.

Boehner also flatly rejects the White House insistence the plan get the country through the next election instead of offering a short-term fix while a longer-term solution can be worked out.

It’s “not physically possible to do all of this in one step,” he said.

How ridiculous is this? Pretty ridiculous; there is absolutely nothing complicated in raising the debt ceiling through the next election, but it is completely ridiculous to raise it once a month, and rehash this argument over and over again. Boehner is –without a doubt – one of the worse Speakers of the House; he has absolutely no control over his caucus and he should – and no doubt soon will – be replaced.

Political reality is, if the debt ceiling isn’t raised and the nation defaults – for the first time ever – the Republican Tea Party House will take the hit. The President has negotiated far beyond any other president ever has; he was not only willing to make cuts but doubled down on the depth of those cuts and Boehner balked. Clearly the GOTP isn’t truly seriously about the debt or the deficit.

Political reality is also that the debt ceiling will be raised, and the longer the GOTP plays this game its portion of what it wanted will get smaller. If they choose to live by “we’re not raising taxes ever”, then they will eventually die by “we’re not raising taxes ever”. You can’t continuously insist on not raising taxes on the wealthiest 2% while concurrently insisting on slashing Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans benefits and not pay a hefty political price for it. It’s almost comical the way the GOTP doesn’t get this; that it doesn’t get that standing up for tax loopholes on corporate jets while wanting to reduce Social Security benefits isn’t absurd. But that’s the new Republican Tea Party.

Perry invites nation’s governors to Texas style prayer day?

So, Texas Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) Governor Rick Perry has invited the nation’s governors to join him in a prayer day to seek God’s guidance to deal with the problems facing America. But, wait a minute, I thought he just wanted to secede and be president of the Second Republic of Texas? Or is this one of those stunts to get the far right wing faction of the party to think he’s one of them?

The day for prayer and fasting is planned for 6 August 11 in Houston and is sponsored by the American Family Association, a Christian advocacy group which describes its mission to “inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture, and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission”. The organization’s website says the event is intended to be a non-denominational, apolitical, Christian prayer service.

Since Perry’s invitation comes on the heels of his announcement that he is considering a run for president should Americans see issues here regarding the constitutional separation of Church and State?

Perry is a strong advocate of the far right Christian conservative wing of the GOTP, and has attended numerous Christian events as governor, and was one of the earliest politicians to embrace the Tea Party’s sometimes questionable rhetoric.

“Given the trials that beset our nation and world, from the global economic downturn to natural disasters, the lingering danger of terrorism and continued debasement of our culture, I believe it is time to convene the leaders from each of our United States in a day of prayer and fasting, like that described in the book of Joel,” Perry said in a statement.

Titled, “The Response,” the event is scheduled to take place at Reliant Stadium. On the website dedicated to the event, organizers said “America is in the midst of a historic crisis.”

OK, “response” to what, or to who?

In his invitation to the other 49 governors, Perry has urged them to also proclaim Aug. 6 a day to pray for “unity and righteousness.”

“We simply want to humbly ask our creator to intervene on behalf of our people and nation, and ask for His blessing and healing power to transform our lives,” he said in the letter.

The AFA said Perry had come up with the idea for the event back in December, way before he had said he was considering a bid for the White House.

“This is not a political event,” said Eric Bearse, a spokesman for the AFA. “This is about gathering people together—men and women of faith—to simply pray for the country.”

Yeah it’s not in any way a political event, it’s just the brain child of a GOTP Governor who is being recruited by the likes of Rush Limbaugh to run for the presidency, but it’s not a political event. OK, sure it isn’t.

Brown says tax increase is off the table?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) Senator Scott Brown has jumped into the ring regarding the fight over the federal budget.

During a stop in Springfield last week Brown reportedly said the President has proposed a debt reduction plan that includes $400 billion in tax increases, but as far as he was concerned tax hikes are off the table.

“There’s a whole host of things you can do before raising taxes. Why is it that the first thing people think about? We could repatriate our money, streamline, consolidate, we can. Payroll tax deduction for businesses to create jobs to stimulate the economy,” Brown said.

Yeah, we’ll just give more tax breaks to the wealthy, that’s worked so well during the past ten years, and we should just keep doing that. What? Were you seriously dropped out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down? Why is the GOTP answer – every time – when talking about the debt to cut taxes for the rich and cut programs for the poor? So now Senator Brown has shown he’s just like every other conservative in the Congress, bought, paid for and elected by and for the wealthiest among us.

GOTP leader criticizes handling of Somali suspect?

The Senate Republican Tea Party (GOTP)  leader is criticizing the Obama administration’s decision to bring a Somali man facing terrorism charges to New York for trial.

GOTP Senator Mitch McConnell has reportedly said that moves by the Obama administration undermine U.S. national security and makes no sense when the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is available. The Kentucky GOTP lawmaker also questioned why the man is being given the rights and privileges of U.S. citizens, such as being read his Miranda rights.

OK Senator, where to start? How does it undermine our national security to try an alleged terrorist in a United States court? Answer; it doesn’t. Your assertion that he should be detained and tried before the military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay is the quaint throw back to the Bush/Cheney era of torture, imprisonment and trial from which President Obama is trying to steer our country away from. Your idiocy knows no bounds, and you display out in the open for all to see. We read Miranda rights to anyone, regardless of their citizenship, who is arrested in the United States. We wouldn’t want the alleged terrorist to be set free because he wasn’t read them would we? And oh by the way Senator, this was also the policy under the aforementioned Bush/Cheney administration, and as hard as you try, isn’t some grand scheme by the “socialistic” Obamaites to over throw the nation.

Furthermore Senator since you have made it your stated mission to defeat President Obama, basically everything you say has to be questioned not only for its validity and relevance but also for its accuracy. You’ve attempted – once again – to portray this President as being soft on terror; I’m sorry but which President actually ordered a Navy Seal team to get Bin Laden? Oh yeah, this one!

You are not relevant Senator, your views are not relevant, and you’re making a fool out of yourself. Please, unless you ever have something of substance to say, just keep your pie hole shut.

Romney doesn’t just flip flop he lies?

Ever since entering the race for the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) nomination, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (aka Flopsy Mopsy) has said on occasions too numerous to count that while the economy was bad when President Barack Obama went into the White House he has made it worse, and this of course implies somehow that he, Flopsy Mopsy, is the candidate who can magically make it all better. It’s tag line he’s used almost every time his pie hole has popped open, but earlier this week, while campaigning ago in Pennsylvania, Flopsy claimed he had never said it.

When NBC producer Sue Kroll asked the former Massachusetts governor why he believes the President’s policies have made the economy worse, in spite of the fact the economy is now growing instead of shrinking as it was when he took office in 2009; when the Dow is climbing, and is no longer in a free-fall it was in when George Bush left office, and when the unemployment rate is beginning to turn around, now down nearly a full percentage point from where it was in the fall of 2009, Mopsy looked straight at her and said, “I didn’t say that things are worse…. What I said was that economy hasn’t turned around.”

Excuse me? It was just Monday, during Romney’s 4th of July campaigning in New Hampshire where he said, “The people of New Hampshire have waited long enough. They want to see good jobs. They want to see rising incomes. They want to see an economy that’s growing again, and the president’s failed. He did not cause this recession, but he made it worse.”

Romney has now proven himself to be what many – including me – have suspected for some time; he’s a liar. He’s just one more GOTP candidate willing to say whatever it takes to get the nomination and then to move on to the White House.

How exactly does bald faced lying mix with his religious faith? Well, Latter-day Saints (Mormons) take honesty very seriously, in fact one of the Church’s Articles of Faith says, “We believe in being honest …” How does that square Flopsy? Either the economy has gotten worse, or it hasn’t (it hasn’t); either you said it, or you didn’t (he did). So, basically you’ve lied (in this particular instance) twice. You said the economy is worse (it’s not) and that you never said that (you did). You’re a liar.

Flopsy seems to think he can say whatever he likes and that no one will notice, yes, he seems to believe American voters are that thick. In late April – while trying to attack the President on the economy – Flopsy claimed America wasn’t at war, and that the country was in the midst of a “peacetime” economy.

“Barack Obama is facing a financial emergency on a grander scale,” Romney said. “Yet his approach has been to engage in one of the biggest peacetime spending binges in American history.”

Yes, the would-be king of the GOTP actually said we’re currently in peacetime economy? Where has he been for the past ten years? Hello Mitt? 9-11? Afghanistan? Iraq? Any of these ring a bell? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? You’re not only a pathetic liar who assumes you’ll never get got, you’re so out of touch you actually claimed we’re in a peacetime economy while we continue to spend more than $2 billion dollars per week in Afghanistan and Iraq.

You – Romney – are a liar, and yes, everyone knows it.

Last-minute budget proposal from the President would be irresponsible?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP)  Senator John Cornyn claims it would be irresponsible for President Obama to present a last-minute proposal in the budget debate, the GOTP Texan says time is running out for the president and the GOTP leadership in Congress to negotiate a deal with an Aug. 2 deadline looming to raise the government borrowing limit.

So, let me get this straight Senator, the President presenting a proposal – last minute as you claim – would be irresponsible, but Republican Tea Party members of Congress holding the nation hostage over raising the debt ceiling isn’t? Of course the fact that you, and almost every other conservative member of Congress voted to raise the debt ceiling repeatedly during the Bush Administration was OK, but now it’s tantamount to a  capital crime? That may play well with the Tea Party crowd, but the rest of the country isn’t nearly that stupid.

lapel pins 2012

Two years I quoted several conservative talking heads who were making noise about how President Obama hadn’t been wearing a flag lapel pin during the 2008 campaign, Sean Hannity said, “Why do we wear pins? Because our country was under attack…And to politicize once again the war to this extent. Well, who cares about the war? Are you proud of your country? Do you believe in America? Do you believe that America has been, continues to be the greatest force for good in this world?”

“I think it’s, you know, the greatest gift God gave us and continues to be a force for good.”

Bill O’Reilly also chimed in on this “controversy”, saying about Candidate Obama, “I didn’t take Obama’s lack of the lapel pin as anything other than he’s either too lazy … to put it on, or he doesn’t want to put it on.”

Not to be left wanting, Neal Boortz said, “I think that maybe the reason he doesn’t wear a U.S. flag on his lapel is because the U.S. flag — regardless of what he thinks — the flag of this country irritates a lot of Democrat [sic] voters.”

So, based on these conservative pundits’ views of the sacred lapel pin, what does it say about four of the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopefuls during the last presidential debate who chose not to wear a flag?


Do they not believe in America?

Are they too lazy?


Don’t they want to wear a flag?

Did they choose not to wear a pin because they didn’t want to – in Neal Boortz’s limited opinion – “irritate a lot of Democratic [sic] voters”?

Or does the lack of a flag lapel pin only apply to someone if they’re a Democrat?

Bachmann concedes she misspoke on Wayne’s hometown

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann has acknowledged that she occasionally is prone to “misspeaking”.

Gee, ya think?

Her latest “misspeaking” was during her “official” announcement that she was running for the GOTP nomination. During her fiery speech her mouth ran away with itself as she attempted to compare herself to conservative icon John Wayne. While attempting to paint herself in the Duke’s image, Bachmann wrongly claiming that Wayne was from her Waterloo, Iowa hometown, actually the John Wayne from her hometown was notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr.

After admitting she’d made another misspeak, Bachmann then reminded everyone that she was “a substantive, serious person” who would be a good president.

Yeah, she’s just a “substantive, serious person,” who just happened to screw up her announcement speech by demonstrating she didn’t even know her own hometown history. Knowing your hometown history is very important in mid-America.

After declaring “John Wayne was from Waterloo” she went on to say “that’s the kind of spirit that I have, too.”

So, do you have the spirit of the actor John Wayne, who wasn’t born in Waterloo, or do you have the spirit of John Wayne Gacy Jr. who was born there? The GOTP hopeful later told CNN that her comments “were just misspeaking” and that her main intent was to show she identified with Wayne’s patriotism.

Again, is that the Duke’s patriotism, or Wayne Gacy’s? And while we’re on this subject, exactly what did John Wayne do to demonstrate his patriotism? Besides make a lot of movies where he played soldiers? Did he ever serve in the military? Did he ever run for office? What exactly did he do to show what an awesome patriot he was? It the same kind of conservative rhetoric people engage in when calling Sean Hannity’s show and proclaiming he’s a “great America”. Why, because he has a talk show? He’s never served in the military, he’s never run for office, he’s a conservative talking head, and that makes him a great American?

“I wish I could be perfect,” Bachmann said. “I’m a substantive, serious person” who has “good sense on how to turn the economy around” as president.

Wow; where to start on that comment? I guess I could say something about the fact she’s claimed she never received any income from a family farm even though financial statements demonstrate she’s made tens of thousands of dollars from it. Somehow, someone who consistently misspeaks, and who lies about her personal finances is not someone I trust to “turn the economy” anywhere.
