Latest 2012 Presidential Polls (14 Jul 11 edition)

Here’s the latest information on this week’s polling on the 2012 Presidential election.

First – from a Quinnipiac poll conducted from 7 – 11 July 2011 – let’s look at who would be the Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) nominee if it all ended today:

Romney  25; Bachmann 14; Palin 12; Perry 10; Cain 6; Paul 5; Gingrich 5; Pawlenty 3; Huntsman 1 and Santorum 1

As the “race” moves into July, Romney (aka Flopsy Mopsy) still holds on to the lead, while Bachmann (aka Krazy) has moved into second, followed by two people who haven’t announced they’re running, Palin (aka the Ice Queen), and Perry (Pres of the 2nd Republic of Texas). Bringing up the rear are Herman Cain (aka the Pizza Man, who has never met a Muslim he hasn’t disliked) followed by Paul, Gingrich, Pawlenty, Huntsman and Santorum.

How long are the guys in the back of this pack going to delude themselves? If you’re lower in the polls than a guy who preaches hate against Muslims what’s that say about your chances? But what about people who say they’ll vote for candidates who aren’t even in the race? Makes you wonder.

The first major GOTP contest will be the Iowa Caucus; if it was held today (according to Magellan Strategies (R): Krazy 29; Flopsy 16; and the rest of pack is in single digits so far back it doesn’t really matter. Yes, at this point the GOTP nomination appears to be turning into a two horse race.

So, how does the GOTP pack stack up against President Obama?

If the election was held today, according to Quinnipiac (which only asked about Bachmann, Romney and Palin) and previous polls for the others:

President Obama 47/Romney 41

President Obama 50/Bachmann 38

President Obama 53/Palin 34

President Obama 47/Pawlenty 33

President Obama 48/Cain 38

President Obama 52/Gingrich 39

President Obama 54/Paul 36

President Obama 52/Huntsman 34

The gap between the President and Flopsy Mopsy has widened to six points. But, once again, the odds of the far-right uber-religious Tea Party ever supporting a “Mormon” for president are highly unlikely.

The GOTP continues to struggle with finding a definite leader, and it is very likely Bachmann will pick up a lot of steam in Iowa and the south, and Romney will then struggle to win a divisive nomination, if he can win it at all.

To recap, if the GOTP nomination circus – and the general election – had both ended this week Flopsy would be the GOTP candidate, and he would still have lost to the President.

Cain says Tennessee mosque would spread Islamic law?

Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidate Herman Cain reportedly opposes a planned Tennessee mosque that has been the subject of protests and legal challenges, and told reporters he’s concerned about the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro.

“It is an infringement and an abuse of our freedom of religion,” he said. “And I don’t agree with what’s happening, because this isn’t an innocent mosque.”

Wow, the Mosque isn’t innocent? Someone should tell Mr. Cain that a mosque is a building, and in general, buildings can’t be good or evil, innocent or guilty; and exactly how does the building of a mosque infringe on your freedom of religion Mr. Cain?

As seems to be an ongoing theme for the far right fringe, the new mosque has been the subject of protests and out cries from the uber-religious Tea Party.

A county judge recently ruled the mosque construction does not harm the residents who sued to try to stop it, but he allowed them to move forward on claims the county violated an open meetings law in approving it.

Of course conservative Christian opponents have used the hearings to argue the mosque is part of a plot to expand Islamic extremism in the U.S. and the Pizza Man agreed, demonstrating once again his racist side when it comes to Muslims.

“It is another example of why I believe in American laws and American courts,” he said. “This is just another way to try to gradually sneak Shariah law into our laws, and I absolutely object to that.”

Cain clearly at some time got some bad beef or something, and his ignorance is showing. It is amazing how these so-called Christians scream about Shariah law, while denying others the freedom of religion guaranteed under the Constitution they claim to love and revere. They love to scream about Islamic abuses while abusing the religious rights of others. Pretty sure they – and Cain – would fall into the category of hypocrites spoken of by the Savior.

Krazy leads in GOTP Iowa?

In polling conducted from 26 to 30 June 2011 by TIR-Voter/Consumer Res. (R) on the Iowa Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) Presidential Caucus, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (aka Krazy) has taken the lead over Mitt Romney (aka Flopsy Mopsy) 25/21.

Wow; Krazy is up by four percentage points? That’s a shift of more than five points from the week before.

Does this spell trouble for Flopsy, or has he decided – as a Mormon – that Iowa isn’t within his reach?

If Krazy wins the Iowa Caucus will it help propel her to win the nomination?

I can’t believe anyone has to ask these questions; in what universe would anyone have conceived that Michelle Bachmann would be beating Mitt Romney in polls for the GOTP nomination? It is indeed a political world turned upside down for the GOTP.

Timmy blasts Krazy?

Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidate Timmy Pawlenty is reportedly claiming that Michele Bachmann (aka “Krazy”) has a “nonexistent” record of accomplishment during her three terms in Congress; and so the GOTP political version of the Donner Party begins.

Pawlenty, who’s lagging far behind Bachmann in both polling (currently 8 points down nationally) and in fundraising, said that as a former Minnesota governor, he has executive experience and achieved results under challenging circumstances, whereas Krazy has done little to nothing in 6 years in the Congress.

To claim Krazy has done nothing is a bit harsh Timmy; she’s been very busy making wild accusations about the President’s birth and religion, lying about receiving income from a family farm and demonstrating how little she knows about U.S. history.

Concerning polls – all of which show him as a non-candidate – Pawlenty reportedly told this morning’s NBC’s “Meet the Press” that early polls aren’t good indicators of anything.

Well, sure they are Timmy; they’re an indicator of how almost no one on the right cares you’re in the race.

Timmy also reportedly said that over the next 60 days (the Iowa GOTP straw poll is on 13 August) he needed to show “significant progress,” and that he was going to prevail in that poll.

Well, on the first point Timmy is correct. He’s going to have to show some real “significant progress” very soon or it’s all over; if it was ever a race to begin with.

On the second point, yeah, that ain’t going to happen. It’s one thing to be a dreamer, but thinking you’re going to prevail in a straw poll in just over a month when you’re 16 percentage points behind the leaders (Romney 24%, and Bachmann 23%) is just being delusional. Truth is Timmy you were never a serious contender, and when you’re not even competitive against someone like Bachmann, well, yeah, you’re done. Timmy, you’ll be lucky if you’re still in this race by Labor Day.

Perry invites nation’s governors to Texas style prayer day?

So, Texas Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) Governor Rick Perry has invited the nation’s governors to join him in a prayer day to seek God’s guidance to deal with the problems facing America. But, wait a minute, I thought he just wanted to secede and be president of the Second Republic of Texas? Or is this one of those stunts to get the far right wing faction of the party to think he’s one of them?

The day for prayer and fasting is planned for 6 August 11 in Houston and is sponsored by the American Family Association, a Christian advocacy group which describes its mission to “inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture, and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission”. The organization’s website says the event is intended to be a non-denominational, apolitical, Christian prayer service.

Since Perry’s invitation comes on the heels of his announcement that he is considering a run for president should Americans see issues here regarding the constitutional separation of Church and State?

Perry is a strong advocate of the far right Christian conservative wing of the GOTP, and has attended numerous Christian events as governor, and was one of the earliest politicians to embrace the Tea Party’s sometimes questionable rhetoric.

“Given the trials that beset our nation and world, from the global economic downturn to natural disasters, the lingering danger of terrorism and continued debasement of our culture, I believe it is time to convene the leaders from each of our United States in a day of prayer and fasting, like that described in the book of Joel,” Perry said in a statement.

Titled, “The Response,” the event is scheduled to take place at Reliant Stadium. On the website dedicated to the event, organizers said “America is in the midst of a historic crisis.”

OK, “response” to what, or to who?

In his invitation to the other 49 governors, Perry has urged them to also proclaim Aug. 6 a day to pray for “unity and righteousness.”

“We simply want to humbly ask our creator to intervene on behalf of our people and nation, and ask for His blessing and healing power to transform our lives,” he said in the letter.

The AFA said Perry had come up with the idea for the event back in December, way before he had said he was considering a bid for the White House.

“This is not a political event,” said Eric Bearse, a spokesman for the AFA. “This is about gathering people together—men and women of faith—to simply pray for the country.”

Yeah it’s not in any way a political event, it’s just the brain child of a GOTP Governor who is being recruited by the likes of Rush Limbaugh to run for the presidency, but it’s not a political event. OK, sure it isn’t.

John Quincy Adams a Founding Father?

John Quincy Adams – the sixth president of the United States – was born 11 July 1767; the Declaration of Independence was signed 4 July 1776; when the document was signed giving birth to these United States, John Quincy wasn’t present. His father John Adams and even his uncle Samuel Adams were there, but alas young John Q was not. Why wasn’t he there? Because he was only eight years old, and as Clarence Thomas so recently pointed out, young John Q. wouldn’t have had any civil rights or liberties to declare. John Quincy Adams was eight years old when the nation was founded; when the “Founding Fathers”, founded it. You can’t be a founding father when you’re eight, and when you’re not there, and that’s a fact.

But when has Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) hopeful Michele Bachmann (aka Krazy) ever cared about facts? After all she was born in the same town as John Wayne (actually it was John Wayne Gacy an infamous serial killer). At a recent campaign stop Krazy declared that John Quincy Adams was a Founding Father. She also claimed the Founding Fathers worked tirelessly to end slavery, but that of course is also a misstatement. Remember the whole 3/5 of a person thing?

But why worry about a few misstatements of historical accuracy? After all she only wants to be president, and it’s not like she gave a fanciful recreation of Paul Revere’s ride complete with nonexistent shots and bells and had Revere making his famous midnight ride to warn the British?

Problem is this is how the Tea Party – and its celebrated candidates – views history; incorrectly. And few seem to either notice or care. We live in an era when uber-right wing talking heads imagine themselves as being the intellectual equals of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, George Washington and Thomas Paine, complete with rewriting these men’s political philosophies in updated language – meaning to suit the talking heads own agendas. For instance in today’s politically charged right wing world, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal …” would be translated to say, “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all white male conservative Christian Americans are created equal …”

Tea Party members, and their candidates, are attempting to rewrite history, some deliberately, and some out of ignorance – Palin and Bachmann – in an attempt to make our country into something the Founders never intended; an oligarchy with fabulously wealthy conservatives pulling all the strings and determining our collective political futures. Why do Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck all think Citizens United was a wonderful ruling? Because they fashion themselves to be part of the wealthy class, they see it as the opportunity to run things while never running for office. Why do Tea Party members think it was a great thing? Because they all believe one day that Lotto ticket is going to pay out big.

Rewriting history to serve one’s political purpose is criminal – conservatives’ attempting to speak for what the Founder’s true intent was to suit their own political and financial ambitions; rewriting history out of ignorance – conservatives attempting to speak for what happened, and for what the Founder’s true intent was and getting it completely wrong is just sad. But it’s even sadder when all the Tea Party members attending events and watching on FOX PAC nod right along with Bachmann and Palin as they get it wrong.

Romney doesn’t just flip flop he lies?

Ever since entering the race for the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) nomination, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (aka Flopsy Mopsy) has said on occasions too numerous to count that while the economy was bad when President Barack Obama went into the White House he has made it worse, and this of course implies somehow that he, Flopsy Mopsy, is the candidate who can magically make it all better. It’s tag line he’s used almost every time his pie hole has popped open, but earlier this week, while campaigning ago in Pennsylvania, Flopsy claimed he had never said it.

When NBC producer Sue Kroll asked the former Massachusetts governor why he believes the President’s policies have made the economy worse, in spite of the fact the economy is now growing instead of shrinking as it was when he took office in 2009; when the Dow is climbing, and is no longer in a free-fall it was in when George Bush left office, and when the unemployment rate is beginning to turn around, now down nearly a full percentage point from where it was in the fall of 2009, Mopsy looked straight at her and said, “I didn’t say that things are worse…. What I said was that economy hasn’t turned around.”

Excuse me? It was just Monday, during Romney’s 4th of July campaigning in New Hampshire where he said, “The people of New Hampshire have waited long enough. They want to see good jobs. They want to see rising incomes. They want to see an economy that’s growing again, and the president’s failed. He did not cause this recession, but he made it worse.”

Romney has now proven himself to be what many – including me – have suspected for some time; he’s a liar. He’s just one more GOTP candidate willing to say whatever it takes to get the nomination and then to move on to the White House.

How exactly does bald faced lying mix with his religious faith? Well, Latter-day Saints (Mormons) take honesty very seriously, in fact one of the Church’s Articles of Faith says, “We believe in being honest …” How does that square Flopsy? Either the economy has gotten worse, or it hasn’t (it hasn’t); either you said it, or you didn’t (he did). So, basically you’ve lied (in this particular instance) twice. You said the economy is worse (it’s not) and that you never said that (you did). You’re a liar.

Flopsy seems to think he can say whatever he likes and that no one will notice, yes, he seems to believe American voters are that thick. In late April – while trying to attack the President on the economy – Flopsy claimed America wasn’t at war, and that the country was in the midst of a “peacetime” economy.

“Barack Obama is facing a financial emergency on a grander scale,” Romney said. “Yet his approach has been to engage in one of the biggest peacetime spending binges in American history.”

Yes, the would-be king of the GOTP actually said we’re currently in peacetime economy? Where has he been for the past ten years? Hello Mitt? 9-11? Afghanistan? Iraq? Any of these ring a bell? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? You’re not only a pathetic liar who assumes you’ll never get got, you’re so out of touch you actually claimed we’re in a peacetime economy while we continue to spend more than $2 billion dollars per week in Afghanistan and Iraq.

You – Romney – are a liar, and yes, everyone knows it.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls (2 Jul 11 edition)

Here’s the latest information on this week’s polling on the 2012 Presidential election.

First – from a FOX PAC poll conducted from 26 – 28 June 2011 – let’s look at who would be the Republican/Tea Party (GOTP) nominee if it all ended today:

Romney  18; Perry 13; Bachmann 11; Palin 8; Paul 7; Cain 5; Huntsman 3; Gingrich 3; Pawlenty 3 and Santorum 2

As the “race moves into the heart of summer, Romney (aka Flopsy Mopsy) still leads followed by Perry (Pres of the Republic of Texas, who has not announced, and probably won’t run), Bachmann (aka Krazy) has made it into the double digits replacing Palin (aka the Ice Queen who has still not announced she’s running – she isn’t).

It is interesting to note that FOX is strongly backing Flopsy and Krazy, and they are both doing very well, while the former FOX PAC poster child Palin is all but disappearing from the polls – see what “Jury Duty” will do to you?

And second, how do the GOTP pack stack up against President Obama? Well, if the election was held today, according to a poll conducted by McClatchy/Marist from 15 – 23 June 2011:

President Obama 46/Romney 42

President Obama 49/Bachmann 37

President Obama 56/Palin 30

President Obama 47/Pawlenty 33

President Obama 48/Cain 38

President Obama 52/Gingrich 39

President Obama 54/Paul 36

President Obama 52/Huntsman 34

So, only Flopsy Mopsy, who has closed the gap to four points really would stand any chance at all of defeating the President, if the election were held today. However, since the odds of the far-right uber religious Tea Party ever supporting a “Mormon” for president is highly unlikely, the GOTP will end up with someone infinitely less qualified and equally infinitely more likely to get shellacked come November 2012.

It’s interesting to note there are no major polls yet conducted which have Santorum figured into the equation indicating major polling organizations have yet to count him as running a legitimate campaign? But what makes it more interesting is these same organizations count the likes of Gingrich, Cain, Paul and Huntsman as being legit?

To recap, if the GOTP nomination circus – and the general election had both ended this week Flopsy would be the GOTP candidate, and he would have lost to the President.

lapel pins 2012

Two years I quoted several conservative talking heads who were making noise about how President Obama hadn’t been wearing a flag lapel pin during the 2008 campaign, Sean Hannity said, “Why do we wear pins? Because our country was under attack…And to politicize once again the war to this extent. Well, who cares about the war? Are you proud of your country? Do you believe in America? Do you believe that America has been, continues to be the greatest force for good in this world?”

“I think it’s, you know, the greatest gift God gave us and continues to be a force for good.”

Bill O’Reilly also chimed in on this “controversy”, saying about Candidate Obama, “I didn’t take Obama’s lack of the lapel pin as anything other than he’s either too lazy … to put it on, or he doesn’t want to put it on.”

Not to be left wanting, Neal Boortz said, “I think that maybe the reason he doesn’t wear a U.S. flag on his lapel is because the U.S. flag — regardless of what he thinks — the flag of this country irritates a lot of Democrat [sic] voters.”

So, based on these conservative pundits’ views of the sacred lapel pin, what does it say about four of the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopefuls during the last presidential debate who chose not to wear a flag?

Do they not believe in America?

Are they too lazy?

Don’t they want to wear a flag?

Did they choose not to wear a pin because they didn’t want to – in Neal Boortz’s limited opinion – “irritate a lot of Democratic [sic] voters”?

Or does the lack of a flag lapel pin only apply to someone if they’re a Democrat?

Romney, Bachmann lead in 2012 Iowa caucus poll

An Iowa Poll recently showed national Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney (a.k.a. Flopsy Mopsy) and Michele Bachmann (a.k.a. Krazy) leading among the state’s likely GOTP caucus-goers.

The poll, conducted for The Des Moines Register showed Flopsy Mopsy, with support from 23 percent in Iowa. Krazy, who officially launched her campaign in Iowa on Monday, has support from 22 percent.

The results were based on telephone interviews with 400 likely Republican Iowa caucus-goers from June 19 to 22. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points. Which of course means Krazy could conceivably actually be leading in Iowa by 3 or 4 points.

Flopsy has said he’s not planning to run a scaled-down Iowa campaign, compared to the $10-million losing effort he waged in the 2008 caucuses, and that basically equates that he’s not planning to win there, and thus he’s writing it off. Considering how close Krazy is in the poll that might not be a bad idea.

All that aside, how does someone like Krazy even figure in polls? How? She figures because that’s where the GOTP has gone to, somewhere down a long dark rabbit hole to the Mad Hater’s Tea Party.
