Did Romney flip-flop or just cave on taxes?

According to the Associated Press (AP), President Barack Obama’s accusing Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney of caving under pressure from Rush Limbaugh (the titular head of the GOTP) for saying requiring all Americans to buy health insurance amounts to a tax.

The President told an interviewer with NBC affiliate WLWT in Cincinnati that while Willard supported the individual mandate as Massachusetts governor he’s “suddenly reversed himself,” and that raises questions over whether Romney’s abandoning a principal after “getting pressure for two days from Rush Limbaugh” or other critics.

Willard said Wednesday the Supreme Court ruled the requirement to buy health insurance was a tax, amounting to another flip-flop in a very long and continuously growing list of flip-flops. How so? Well, a top Romney adviser said previously Romney viewed the mandate as a penalty, a fee or a fine – not a tax, but now Willard’s claiming it’s a tax.

So, did Romney flip-flop again, or is there just a continuing disconnect in his campaign over what the candidate stands for? Could it be those closest to the GOTP nominee don’t even know where he stands on anything?

It’s been said “principles matter” as president, but what if you have none, never show them, or change them whenever it suits you?

Romney Says Students Should Get ‘As Much Education As They Can Afford’?

According to news reports, Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney has given some advice to future students while campaigning in Virginia.

“I think this is a land of opportunity for every single person, every single citizen of this great nation. And I want to make sure that we keep America a place of opportunity, where everyone has a fair shot. They get as much education as they can afford and with their time they’re able to get and if they have a willingness to work hard and the right values, they ought to be able to provide for their family and have a shot of realizing their dreams.”

The statement, “get as much education as they can afford” is no big shock coming from a rich kid whose biggest financial challenge while going to college was having to divest some of his stock portfolio while roughing it in a 3,000 + SF apartment. Willard’s other sage advice to students has been to “take risks” and even borrow money from their parents to fuel success.

This appears to be just another, “Let them eat cake” moment for the struggling GOTP candidate, who’s had a dismal time showing he’s in touch with middle and lower class Americans. “Get as much education as they can afford” smacks of elitism and begs the question, “So, only rich kids should go to college”? Maybe only rich kids who keep their hair cut short?

Romney’s staff meets at dance club

According to news reports, staffers for Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopeful Willard Mitt Romney held a meeting at a club catering to adults offering “body painting”, ‎”Models/Dancers/Showgirls” and where the “The Mint’s three unique bar experiences will invite discovery and ignite excitement”.

But wait, that’s not all, one review of the “meeting place” said in a review, “The club also offers a ‘specialty champagne bar in the co-ed bathroom.’ In the marble unisex bathroom, a bartender makes drinks while patrons take ‘socializing in the bathroom to a new level”

Yep, it just speaks like the type of place the first Mormon candidate for President of the United States should have tied to his name and campaign; it just screams “family Values”!

Romney 2012! Family Values, and a whole lot more!

Some dare not call it racism

No other President has been treated with the amount of disrespect from his opponents – Congressman unprecedented interruption of State of the Union Address, and so-called “journalist” interrupting address in the Rose Garden – this one has; no other President has ever been asked for his birth certificate nor has any other President been called “boy”, or “man child” etc…

It’s got to be something, let’s look at what might attribute to this disrespect from opponents on the right?

He’s a Democrat!
Nope, that can’t be it we’ve had 16 Presidents who were Democrats and none were ever treated this badly

He’s a Lawyer!
Nope, we’ve had 21 lawyers, and while that certainly could be argued to be reason enough, no other Presidents who were lawyers have been treated like this

He went to Harvard!
Nope, had six of those

He was raised without a father!
Nope, had six of those

He’s a progressive!
Nope, we’ve had nine of those

He’s a man!
They’ve all been men so far – all 44

Well now, what does that leave us?

They hate him because he’s Hawaiian?
Somehow I doubt that’s the problem.

That leaves us with two things different from all the others, his name is Obama, or he’s Black?

Well, either of those things is certainly a first; he’s the first Black President and he’s the first one with a Muslim name – disliking him for either would be considered racism.

The Master of Sleight of Hand Rhetoric, Willard Romney Says ‘Words are Cheap’

According to numerous news sources the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopeful Willard Mitt Romney is attempting to pin his own moniker of flip-flopper onto the President claiming while the President will speak “eloquently,” as he delivers an economic speech in Ohio, “words are cheap.”

Willard says the President will “change course” after his comment last week that the “private sector is doing fine.”

Well, let’s see, record braking profits for corporations, record breaking bonuses to CEOs, the Stock Market well 4,000 points higher than it was when the President was inaugurated; hmmmm, looks like the President’s right, the private sector’s doing just fine.

“He said, as you know, just a few days ago that the private sector is doing fine, but the incredulity that came screaming back from the American people, I think, has caused him to rethink that, and I think you’re gonna see him change course when he speaks tomorrow, where he will acknowledge that it isn’t going so well, and he’ll be asking for four more years,” Willard mewed.

Haven’t heard any screaming; well, OK, there’s that noise from FOX News, and right wing radio, but if the President stood up tomorrow and said the sky was sunny and blue, they’d scream it was grey and looking like rain.

“So instead of three years and he’s out, he wants four more years,” he said. “My own view is that he will speak eloquently, but that words are cheap, and that the record of an individual is the basis upon which you determine whether they should continue to hold on to their job. The record is that we have 23 million Americans that are out of work or stopped looking for work or underemployed. That is a compelling and a sad statistic. These are real people.”

So, Willard thinks “words are cheap”, no surprise considering how often he changes his own words. It was just last week he was snidely saying of the President, “He says we need more firemen, more policemen, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”

But wait, that’s not all, when he found himself in the midst of real incredulity screaming back from the American people on his desire to cut the number of teachers, police officers and fire fighters, suddenly he’s back peddling saying, “it’s “absurd” to think he wants to reduce the number of teachers, fire fighters and police officers, and that those charges are “strange”.

Willard’s attempting to negatively describe President Obama’s as being “the most anti-investment, anti-business, anti-jobs series of policies in modern American history.”

“The reason that it has taken so long for this recovery to gain traction and to put people back to work is in large measure because of the policy choices the president made. He is not responsible for whatever improvement we might be seeing,” said Romney. “Instead, he’s responsible for the fact that it’s taken so long to see this recovery and the recovery’s been so tepid.”

Actually Willard, the reason it’s taken so long for this recovery to gain traction is because of the GOTP dominated House and the filibustering conservatives in the Senate; for almost two years the GOTP members in the House have introduced more than 100 bills aimed at ended a woman’s right to choose, while introducing none with helping the economy to get moving again. They’ve passed the Ryan austerity plan not once but twice, and stalled any additional recovery legislation friendly to the nation’s economy or to the President.

It’s comical Romney would attempt to portray the President as the one changing his mind when it’s Willard who can’t find a coherent policy lasting more than a single news cycle and often not even that long; and frequently he has trouble finding a coherent sentence, “I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that’s the America millions of Americans believe in. That’s the America I love.”

GOTP’s most wanted list?

Republican Tea Party (GOTP) Presidential nominee Willard Mitt Romney’s decided to mock President Obama at a recent campaign appearance, “he (President Obama) wants another stimulus, he wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more firemen, more policemen, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”

So, when exactly did teachers, police and firefighters become the enemy?

When did the Republican Party decide they were the banes of civil society?

These so-called “enemies” are primary and essential to society and to our day-to-day lives.

We give our children to teachers seven hours every day, expecting them to teach our children so they will become contributing members of our society.

We depend on police and firefighters to keep us safe.

And yet we have politicians campaigning on and voting to cut their pay and benefits.

Truth (which most conservatives don’t like to face) is we need professional teachers who love their jobs and don’t have to get a second job to make ends meet.

We want our police and firefighters to know they’re appreciated every time they put their lives on the line for us.

How soon will it be before veterans are also thrown onto the GOTP’s most wanted list? Oh wait, they’re already there; every cut to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security affects those who have defended our country, from Iwo Jima, to Pork Chop Hill, Saigon, Baghdad and Kabul. You see many veterans survive off those benefits, but conservatives from Paul Ryan to Willard Mitt Romney don’t care; they’re wealthy, they never served and they don’t care.

Stopping voter fraud?

The problem with this new zealous desire to “cut down on voter fraud” is many of these states suddenly concerned about voter ID are requiring government issued photo id’s, such as a valid driver’s license; what if don’t drive? What if you can’t drive?

In Pennsylvania – in order to vote – you must possess – a valid driver’s license or another government-issued photo, such as a U.S. passport, military ID, or county/municipal employee ID.

Let’s suppose you’re a natural born citizen, but you’re not a member of the military or a county or municipal employee; to get your driver’s license in Pennsylvania you must have a Social Security Card and one additional certificate proving your citizenship either a certified birth certificate or a valid U.S. Passport.

You go to your desk drawer, dresser, filing cabinet, box in the closet or mason jar buried in the back yard to get your non-laminated Social Security card, but you discover it’s not there, or horror of horrors it’s laminated! Here’s what you have to do:

First, prove your citizenship with a U.S. issued birth certificate (original or certified copy issued by the state) or U.S. passport.

If you don’t have a passport (which most Americans don’t have since you only need it for travelling abroad, and most Americans haven’t done that) you’ll have to produce your original birth certificate, and since many people don’t have those either you’ll have to request a duplicate from the state where you were born – for our example this is Pennsylvania, which will cost you $10.00 (basically a poll tax since it’s needed to obtain a non-laminated Social Security card necessary for voting).

Now to continue your odyssey of obtaining a driver’s license in Pennsylvania, in addition to your non-laminated Social Security card, you must also have one of the following:

A copy of your birth certificate with “raised” seal (if you don’t have it, please see above to obtain a copy and pay your first $10.00 poll tax); it must be U.S. issued by an authorized government agency, including U.S. territories or Puerto Rico. Non-U.S. Birth Certificates will not be accepted … too bad John McCain or George Romney (if he were alive today) both men were U.S. citizens but neither could use their birth certificates in Pennsylvania; or a valid U.S. Passport (which isn’t needed because now you have your birth certificate!).

But wait! Once you’ve got the proof that you’re a real Yankee Doodle Dandy you’ll have to prove you’re a resident of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – which is a separate comedy of errors we’ll not explore now; for today let’s assume you can prove you’re a resident of the Commonwealth.

In addition to obtaining a copy of your birth certificate you’ll also have to pass a vision test and supply a “medical qualification certificate” proving you don’t suffer from neurological disorders, neuropsychiatric disorders, circulatory disorders, cardiac disorders, hypertension, uncontrolled epilepsy, uncontrolled diabetes, cognitive impairment (most conservatives), alcohol abuse (that leaves out most of Congress), drug abuse (that leaves out Rush Limbaugh), conditions causing repeated lapses of consciousness (e.g. epilepsy, narcolepsy, hysteria, etc.); additionally, you can’t have any impairment or amputation of an appendage (shop teachers, severely wounded veterans, or people who’ve been in an accident or who were born with a defect need not apply). If you’re blind or severely disabled you won’t be able to get a driver’s license in Pennsylvania, of course if you’re blind you won’t be able to get a driver’s license in most states.

If you can qualify for the license your additional cost of getting your Initial Permit and Four-Year License (if you’ve never had a driver’s license) is $34.50 (that’s a state issued id needed to vote – that’s a poll tax).

Remember, in Pennsylvania – in order to vote – you must possess – a valid driver’s license or another government-issued photo, such as a U.S. passport, military ID, or county/municipal employee ID. So, if you’re not in the military, if you’re not a county/municipal employee, or if you can’t qualify for – or afford – a driver’s license you’re not allowed to vote in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. At best the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) dominated State Assembly’s instituted a new poll tax; while at worst it’s deliberately disenfranchising the poor, elderly and disabled; got to love groups which pound their collective chest swearing their love and devotion for the rights espoused and protected in the Constitution while sticking it to voters.

Welcome to the United States of Amercia?

I was born here, raised my family here, taught in its schools and served in its military; only to find out we’ve all been misspelling its name?

And we all have the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential candidate Willard Mitt Romney to thank for pointing this out to us; it seems Willard’s actually running for President of the United States of “Amercia.”

In what can only be described as a major political faux paw of epic embarrassing proportions, Willard’s campaign misspelled the word “America” on its new “With Mitt” iPhone app.

The app has a transparent skin allowing users to take a photograph and superimpose the slogan “A better Amercia” on the image.

According to the Associated Press (AP) the twitter world’s full of comments on the mistake, “Whew, I hear Mitt’s updating that misspelled Amercia on his app. He’s just going with Untied States now,” read one tweet.

“Does Mitt Romney believe that Obama was born in Keyna,” another tweeter jabbed.

The “A better Amercia” skin is just one of 14 on the user-friendly app. Most of them include the phrase “I’m With Mitt” at the bottom.

“We thought this would be a fun, easy way to showcase support,” Romney’s digital director Zac Moffatt told Mashable.com when asked about the launch of the app.

Congrats Zac, people are definitely having fun with this app; two words, “spell check”.
