Romney screws up facts on Aurora shooting?

According to NBC News, Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential hopeful Willard Mitt Romney said during an interview that many of the weapons obtained by the shooting suspect in Colorado were obtained illegally and changing laws won’t prevent gun-related tragedies.

“This person shouldn’t have had any kind of weapons and bombs and other devices and it was illegal for him to have many of those things already. But he had them,” Willard mewed during the interview. “And so we can sometimes hope that just changing the law will make all bad things go away. It won’t.”

Alleged shooter James Holmes broke no laws when he purchased an AR-15 assault rifle, a shotgun and Glock handgun, and he passed the required background checks.

NBC News anchor Brian Williams asked Willard about when he – as governor of Massachusetts – signed a bill banning some assault weapons like the type Holmes is alleged to have used. When he signed the ban, Romney described such guns as “instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

Asked if he stood by those comments today, Willard avoided answering the question directly misdirecting by saying he didn’t think current laws needed to change.

“I don’t happen to believe that America needs new gun laws. A lot of what this … young man did was clearly against the law. But the fact that it was against the law did not prevent it from happening,” he said.

So, first Willard misspeaks by claiming Holmes purchased the guns he used illegally – which was wrong, and second he obfuscates when asked about the gun ban law he signed while governor; standard operating procedure (SOP) for Romney, screw up the facts and misdirect if you can somehow be embarrassed by something; both all so presidential.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 25 Jul 12 Edition

It’s only 15 weeks until the November election and the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney’s decided that he agrees with President Obama that business success didn’t happen by itself while disagreeing that success didn’t happen by itself. He continues to be under fire for having said he left Bain Capital in 1999 while records from the company filed with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) show he was still involved into 2002. He’s telling the President it’s time to stop stonewalling on alleged leaks from the White House while he’s been stonewalling for months in refusing to release his tax returns – not smart speech writing.

So, how does the GOTP candidate stand up against the President?

According to the last CBS News/NY Times poll of registered voters conducted from 11 Jul 12 – 16 Jul 12, shows the President with a 36% favorability rating compared to Romney’s 32%.

So, who’s more electable right now?

In the most recent viable’ national poll(s) – which are any group other than the Washington Times or Rasmussen (which are generally always skewed not just to the right, but far to the right) – the most current Gallup Tracking poll of registered voters conducted 18 Jul – 24 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 45/Romney 46

The most recent NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl poll of registered voters conducted 18 Jul – 22 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 49/Romney 43

And finally, the most recent FOX News poll of registered voters conducted 15 Jul 12 – 17 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 45/Romney 41

If the general election was held today, according to national polls, Willard Mitt Romney loses to President Obama in the general election.

According to state polls, if the General Election were held TODAY (note these are based on current poll numbers – not projections), the Electoral College totals based on all available current poll numbers the President defeats Romney 347/191:

Results of 15 consecutive simulations based on poll data as of 25 Jul 12

Obama 337/201
Obama 312/226
Obama 316/222
Obama 294/244
Obama 311/227

Obama 275/263
Obama 317/221
Obama 299/239
Obama 305/233
Obama 295/243

Romney 273/265
Obama 352/186
Obama 313/225
Obama 314/224
Romney 275/263

Of 15 simulations ran, Romney ekes out only two victories by the slimmest of margins, while the President not only beats Romney but beats him by a landslide more than half the time defeating Romney 13/15 times.

Pennsylvania Concedes It Has No Proof of Voter Fraud

According to news reports, defendants in a case against Pennsylvania’s voter ID law, in a stipulation agreement signed earlier this month, conceded they had no evidence of prior in-person voter fraud, or even any reason to believe such crimes would occur with more frequency if a voter ID law wasn’t in effect.

“There have been no investigations or prosecutions of in-person voter fraud in Pennsylvania; and the parties do not have direct personal knowledge of any such investigations or prosecutions in other states,” the statement reads.

The whole voter ID thing in Pennsylvania is based on a lie, on no evidence whatsoever?

So, what’s the real reason for the new law, how about voter suppression?

Last month, Mike Turzai, the Pennsylvania Republican Tea Party (GOTP) House majority leader, said a strict new voter ID law will help Republicans win the state for the first time since 1988.

“Voter ID, which is going to allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done,” Turzai bragged to applause at a GOTP State Committee this weekend, according to PoliticsPa.com.

Straight from the horse’s mouth, Pennsylvania’s voter ID law has absolutely nothing to do with voter fraud and everything to do with voter suppression.

Romney agrees with President Obama?

President Obama said, “Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business—you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

Mitt Romney attacked him for it, but then Romney said, “There are a lot of people in government who help us and allow us to have an economy that works and allow entrepreneurs and business leaders of various kinds to start businesses and create jobs. We all recognize that. That’s an important thing. I know that you recognize that a lot of people help you in a business. Perhaps the banks, the investors. There’s no question your mom and dad. Your school teachers. The people that provide roads, the fire, and the police. A lot of people help.”

OK conservatives, Mitt agrees with president Obama there are a lot of people – including government – that help businesses get started, grow and succeed. Now shut your pie holes.

Sixteen weeks to go until the November election and the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney’s under fire for having said he left Bain Capital in 1999 while records from the company filed with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) show he was still not just involved but intimately involved being listed as the CEO, sole stock holder and chief cook and bottle washer; additionally he’s being pressured to release his tax records (to date he’s released a partial 2010) and thus far Willard’s refusing to give anything up.

So, how does the GOTP candidate stand up against the President?

According to the latest CBS News/NY Times poll of registered voters conducted from 11 – 16 Jul 12, shows the President with a 36% favorability rating compared to Romney’s 32%.

If the general election was held today, according to national polls, it’s too close to call between Willard Mitt Romney and President Obama in the general election.

However, according to state polls, if the General Election were held TODAY (note these are based on current poll numbers – not projections), the Electoral College totals based on all available current poll numbers:

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 10 Jul 12 Edition

Seventeen weeks until the November election and while President Obama’s gone on the offensive calling on Congress to extend the Bush tax cuts for everyone earning less than $250,000 per year, Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney’s calling for the tax cuts to be extended for everyone, saying increasing taxes on the top 2% would hurt the “job creators” in America; only problem with Willard’s theory is we’ve had these tax cuts for more than ten years now, and seen very little return from the so-called “job creators”.

So, how does the GOTP candidate stand up against the President?

No new polls on current favorability of the candidates; however, according to the latest CNN/Opinion Research poll of registered voters conducted from 28 Jun – 01 Jul 12, shows the President with a 54% favorability rating compared to Romney’s 49%.

So, who’s more electable right now?

In the most recent viable’ poll(s) – which are any group other than FOX News, Washington Times or Rasmussen (which are generally always skewed not just to the right, but far to the right) – the most current Reuters/Ipsos poll of registered voters conducted 05 Jul – 09 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 49/Romney 43

The most current Gallup Tracking poll of registered voters conducted 01 Jul – 08 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 47/Romney 45

The most recent ABC News/Wash Post poll of registered voters conducted 05 Jul – 08 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 47/Romney 47

And finally, the most recent CNN/Opinion Research poll of likely voters conducted 28 Jun 12 – 01 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 49/Romney 46

If the general election was held today, Willard Mitt Romney still loses to President Obama in the general election.

How big would Willard lose? Well, if the General Election were held TODAY (note these are based on current poll numbers – not projections), the Electoral College totals based on all available current poll numbers:

Did Romney flip-flop or just cave on taxes?

According to the Associated Press (AP), President Barack Obama’s accusing Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney of caving under pressure from Rush Limbaugh (the titular head of the GOTP) for saying requiring all Americans to buy health insurance amounts to a tax.

The President told an interviewer with NBC affiliate WLWT in Cincinnati that while Willard supported the individual mandate as Massachusetts governor he’s “suddenly reversed himself,” and that raises questions over whether Romney’s abandoning a principal after “getting pressure for two days from Rush Limbaugh” or other critics.

Willard said Wednesday the Supreme Court ruled the requirement to buy health insurance was a tax, amounting to another flip-flop in a very long and continuously growing list of flip-flops. How so? Well, a top Romney adviser said previously Romney viewed the mandate as a penalty, a fee or a fine – not a tax, but now Willard’s claiming it’s a tax.

So, did Romney flip-flop again, or is there just a continuing disconnect in his campaign over what the candidate stands for? Could it be those closest to the GOTP nominee don’t even know where he stands on anything?

It’s been said “principles matter” as president, but what if you have none, never show them, or change them whenever it suits you?

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 05 Jul 12 Edition

Eighteen weeks and counting to go until the November election and Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney’s campaign has been rocked by the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamcare) which was patterned after Romneycare in Massachusetts; right down to the individual mandate penalty which SCOTUS declared was a tax forcing Romney to either admit he instituted a tax increase while Governor of Massachusetts, or to attempt a flip-flop and claim it’s a penalty in Massachusetts but a tax on the national level, predictably, he chose the latter.

Willard’s also dealing with increasing pressure from fellow Republicans to shake up his campaign staff, and his wife Ann’s now claiming he’s seriously considering a female running mate as VP.

So, how does the GOTP candidate stand up against the President?

The current favorability of the candidates, according to the latest CNN/Opinion Research poll of registered voters conducted from 28 Jun – 01 Jul 12, shows the President with a 54% favorability rating compared to Romney’s 49%.

So, who’s more electable right now?

In the most recent viable’ poll(s) – which are any group other than FOX News or Rasmussen (which are always skewed to the right) – the most current Gallup Tracking poll of registered voters conducted 27 Jun – 3 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 48/Romney 44

The most recent CNN/Opinion Research poll of registered voters conducted 28 Jun – 1 Jul 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 49/Romney 46

And finally, the most recent Newsweek/Daily Beast poll of likely voters conducted 28 Jun 12, if the general election were held today:

President Obama 47/Romney 44

If the general election was held today, Willard Mitt Romney still loses to President Obama in the general election.

How big would Willard lose? Well, if the General Election were held today, the Electoral College totals based on all available current poll numbers:
