Twelve weeks to go until the November election and the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney’s decided to try to shake things up by selecting Tea Party (TP) darling Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate, and he’s still trying to dodge the need to release his tax records, but now it seems he’s required his VP candidates to release many years of tax records to his campaign before he could select them, nothing like hypocrisy on a grand level.

So, how does the GOTP candidate stand up against the President?

The last favorability CNN/Opinion Research poll of registered voters conducted from 7 – 8 Aug 12, showed the President with a 54% favorability rating compared to Romney’s 48%.

So, who’s more electable right now?

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 07 Aug 12 Edition

Thirteen weeks until the November election and the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney’s still trying to dodge the need to release his tax records and the heat’s now been turned on by Senate Leader Harry Reid who announced on floor of the United States Senate that he’d received a phone call from a former Bain investor who claimed Willard hadn’t paid any taxes in ten years; Romney’s campaign turned around and told Senator Reid to prove it, and to “put up or shut up”. Oddly enough that’s how Willard could solve this problem, he could put up and then everyone else would shut up.

So, how does the GOTP candidate stand up against the President?

The last favorability Pew Research poll of registered voters conducted from 16 – 26 Jul 12, showed the President with a 50% favorability rating compared to Romney’s 37%. No candidate has ever even come close to winning the presidency with such pathetic favorability ratings.

So, who’s more electable right now?

Allen West says “Romney’s VP Pick Needs Military Experience” – like the kind he has?

Various news sources are saying soon-to-be one term Republican Tea Party (GOTP) Congressman Allen (Walter E. Kurtz) West told a group of young conservatives at the Young America’s Foundation’s National Conservative Student Conference that military experience is the most important trait that presumptive GOTP presidential nominee Willard Mitt Romney’s running mate must have.

“First time in 77 years there is a possibility that neither the sitting president and vice president, or the candidates for president and vice president have served in the military … and when I look at the number one title for president of the United States of America is commander in chief, that’s what concerns me,” Kurtz (West) said.

West (Kurtz) says Willard needs to fill the holes in his own resume with a running mate, especially a G.I. Joe type, All-American like himself?

“I think that whoever Governor Romney is as a presidential candidate, he has to do his own self-assessment, self-analysis and understand ‘where are my weaknesses,'” Kurtz (West) preached. “Therefore, the person that I have running with me as my ‘fox-hole buddy,’ if I want to put it in military terms, they have to be someone that shores up where I see my weakness are so we can be a really strong command team, leadership team.”

Reportedly, West (Kurtz) laughed when a student asked him to weigh in on a potential GOP vice presidential candidate, but then warmed to the subject of essentially nominating himself.

“Oh man, there are cameras on here,” Kurtz (West) said. The congressman then went on to tamp down any speculation that he himself was ever a potential pick. “I was never being considered,” he said (until I threw my own hat into the ring right now!).

Of course, the last person Romney – or any other GOTP nominee – needs on the ticket with them is a former military officer forced into retirement after discharging his weapon next to the head of a prisoner he had just told he was going to execute. West (Kurtz) is a loaded mouth waiting to discharge.

Romney says, ‘I Have Paid Taxes Every Year; a Lot of Taxes.’

According to news reports, Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presumptive presidential wannabe Willard Mitt Romney is insisting he’s paid taxes every year and is challenging Democratic Senate Majority Leader (and fellow Latter-day Saint) Harry Reid “to put up or shut up” with his accusations he hasn’t.

“Let me also say categorically: I have paid taxes every year. A lot of taxes. A lot of taxes,” Willard mewed to reporters in Nevada.

“Harry Reid really has to put up or shut up, alright? So Harry, who are your sources?” Romney whined, referring to the Senator’s claim a Bain Capital investor told him Willard hadn’t paid taxes in 10 years.

As the GOTP candidate has been continually pressured to release his tax records, and was asked yet again why he wouldn’t just release them rather than continue engaging in a back-and-forth with Senator Reid, Willard deflected saying people should visit his website to see his financial disclosure statements dating back to 2002 and his 2010 tax return.

“Go on the website, you’ll be surprised to see the amazing amount of data that’s associated with our campaign’s disclosure,” he said.

Yeah, about that; I went to the “website” and was surprised to see nothing at all regarding Willard’s tax records or financial disclosure, at least not easily found. Perhaps he was referring to his offshore website, the one in the Caymans?

Despite Romney’s whining about the unfair amount of taxes he’s allegedly paid, Senator Reid said it’s time for Willard to stop “insulting” the American public by refusing to release his tax returns.

“It’s hard to say which is more insulting to Americans’ intelligence, Mitt Romney’s tax plan or his refusal to show the American people what’s in his tax returns,” Reid said in a statement. “Romney seems to think he’s above the basic level of transparency and openness that every presidential candidate has lived up to since his father set the standard in 1968.”

“In short, Romney’s message to Nevadans is this: He won’t release his taxes, but he wants to raise yours.”

He accused Romney of being “the most secretive presidential candidate since Richard Nixon” and pointed out that even nominees overseen by the Senate Finance Committee have to produce more tax returns that Romney is willing to release.

“Forget about president — Mitt Romney couldn’t get confirmed as a cabinet secretary,” Reid said. “The contents of the one year of returns he has released would probably be enough to tank his nomination anyway: secret overseas bank accounts in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, tax avoidance tricks and a lower tax rate than middle-class families pay.”

Whatever Senator Reid’s reasons for suddenly going after Romney on this issue it’s a political strategy which is a win/win for Democrats and a lose/lose more for Romney. If Romney continues to refuse to release his taxes the furor won’t go away and it won’t lessen in intensity. This began back during the GOTP primaries when his opponents – fellow conservatives – went after him on his tax records.

To not release makes him look elitist, out of touch and possibly hiding something very messy. To release could affect his campaign by some embarrassing fact like he paid less in taxes than average Americans. We already know that, its old news. Politically this is not a smart play. Romney should remember Nixon’s famous “Checker’s Speech”; he should release the records declare what’s in them, especially if there’s anything that could draw fire, and move on. Get the splinter removed before it festers and becomes the equivalent of political blood poisoning. Or, just keep arguing about how “it’s not required by law”, and “I have a right to privacy” blaah, blaah, blaah …

Tea Party says Romney Better Move to Right?

According to news reports the Tea Party (whoever that really is) following an upset primary win by Tea Party (TP) backed Ted Cruz in Texas is telling the presumptive Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential nominee Willard Mitt Romney he better start toeing the mark.

“These guys [newly elected Tea Party candidates]” are going to force Romney to the right,” said Andrea Shell, a spokeswoman for Tea Party group Freedom Works. “That is our entire mission.”

Cruz won the Texas Republican primary Tuesday night, which considering it is Texas is a virtual win in November as well.

His victory appears – at least on the surface – to be the latest in a string of TP candidates to use anti-establishment frustration within the party to overcome the seemingly deep pockets of more “traditional” conservative candidates; meaning it’s possible to defeat money in the general election folks – even the seemingly bottomless pockets of the Koch Brothers.

“If we can elect a really conservative House and Senate that will force Romney to go along with our bold conservative agenda,” Shell said. “He’s going to have to really, really go to the right. He’ll be working with guys in the House and Senate. He won’t be able to get away with too many middle of the road policies, especially on things like the deficit.”

Of course, first you have to be able to elect “a really conservative House and Senate”, which is unlikely; and second, Willard has be elected President, something also increasingly at odds with the current political trends in poll after poll, but certainly something that could change as Americans are nothing if not fickle.

“If the Tea Party says it wants Romney to move right, I think, that’s were Romney is going anyway,” Newton Leroy Gingrich, former House speaker (who resigned after multiple extra-marital affairs were revealed) and failed GOTP presidential candidate, told ABCNews.com.

“Romney has endorsed the Ryan budget plan, opposed tax increases, and indicated he supports the full repeal of Obamacare. That’s a pretty activist opening day,” Gingrich said.

Yeah, but having that “pretty activist opening day” is a long shot at best, and your candidate just doesn’t seem to have the moxie to pull that off.

“You have to think of Romney as having a foot in the Tea Party and a foot in the establishment,” he said, adding, “that’s right where the Republicans want him.”

Yes, Willard’s trying to have it both ways, being part of the TP and part of the more traditional side of the party; problem with playing both sides is sooner or later you have to choose because a “house divided against itself cannot stand” observed on rather famous former Republican President.

The problem with the Tea Partistas is they just don’t want a candidate simply moving their way they want them completely indoctrinated and marinated in the TP way of life. Romney’s already moved so far to the right during the primaries he’s bending himself into a pretzel to show he’s not some right-wing lunatic, and it’s only adding to the political perception that he’s a flip-flopping etch-a-sketch candidate.

As former Democratic Speaker of the House used to say, “All politics are local”; winning a senate seat in Texas is one thing – especially in a deeply red state, taking those fringe far-right bumper sticker talking points and winning a national election for the presidency is entirely different. The TP had one of its own on the ticket in 2008 and the result was a resounding defeat.

Palin claims Chick-Fil-A boycott has ‘chilling effect’ on First Amendment?

According to news reports, former Republican Tea Party (GOTP) vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin said during another softball question interview on Fox News, that she fully supported Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s decision (of course Dan Cathy isn’t really the president of the company his father is – but when has Sarah ever worried about facts?) to publicly express his anti-gay marriage views and claimed the resulting backlash against the company was an affront to free speech.

“Well, that calling for the boycott is a real — has a chilling effect on our 1st Amendment rights,” Palin whined to Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. “And the owner of the Chick-fil-A business had merely voiced his personal opinion about supporting traditional definition of marriage, one boy, one girl, falling in love, getting married. And having voiced support for kind of that cornerstone of all civilization and all religions since the beginning of time, he then basically [is] getting crucified.”

Isn’t it interesting how the “owner” has a right to express his views (under the First Amendment) but no one can object to them? Is a boycott not a legitimate form of political speech? If corporations are people, then can’t other people decide not to associate with that person if they so choose?

“I’m speaking up for him and his 1st Amendment rights and anybody else who would wish to express their not anti-gay people sentiment, but their support of traditional marriage, which President Obama and Joe Biden, they both supported the exact same thing until just a few months ago, when Obama had to flip-flop to shore up the homosexual voter base,” Palin bemoaned.

Ah yes, the old “Obama had to shore up his Gay voter base” because they might go flooding over to the GOTP? Once more, isn’t it funny how conservatives – like Romney – can have his ideas or beliefs evolve, rather than flip-flop, but Liberals can’t. The President by-the-way hasn’t said he supports federal intervention; rather he said it should be left up to the states to decide.

Of course every conservative talking face on FOX has rallied to the restaurant’s defense, with former GOTP presidential wannabe Mike Huckabee organizing a “Chick-fil-A Apprectiation Day“.

Wherever anyone stands on Gay Marriage, the idea boycotting a company, or protesting some wing-nut’s ideas is bad for the First Amendment is just plain stupid. Only someone as ignorant of what the Bill of Rights is really about like Palin would say that; just one more piece of evidence demonstrating just how blessed we are that she isn’t the Vice-President.

Latest 2012 Presidential Polls – 31 Jul 12 Edition

We’ve only got 14 weeks to go until the November election and the Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wanna-be Willard Mitt Romney’s in the midst of his 2012 World Tour! Unfortunately for Willard it hasn’t been the rousing success he had no doubt hoped for; after insulting Great Britain – repeatedly – one British paper’s front page declared “Mitt the Twit!” Next he went to Israel declaring Jerusalem was the capital and denigrating the Arab Spring as well as insulting the Palestinians; and finally while in Warsaw, Poland his Press Secretary told the Press, “kiss my ____” and to “shove it”.

So, how does the GOTP candidate stand up against the President?

No new favorability polls yet, but the last CBS News/NY Times poll of registered voters conducted from 11 Jul 12 – 16 Jul 12, showed the President with a 36% favorability rating compared to Romney’s 32%.

So, who’s more electable right now?

Romney manages to offend Palestinians

According to the Associated Press (AP), Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wannabe Willard Mitt Romney told Jewish donors this week it was their culture that allowed them to be more economically successful than the Palestinians, which of course outraged Palestinian leaders who called immediately called Willard’s comments not only out of touch but racist.

“As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality,” Willard mewed.

It took no time for Palestinian leaders to react, “It is a racist statement and this man doesn’t realize that the Palestinian economy cannot reach its potential because there is an Israeli occupation,” said Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

But the criticism of Romney didn’t end there, “It seems to me this man (Romney) lacks information, knowledge, vision and understanding of this region and its people,” Erekat added. “He also lacks knowledge about the Israelis themselves. I have not heard any Israeli official speak about cultural superiority.”

According to the AP, the economic disparity between the Israelis and the Palestinians is actually much greater than Romney claimed. Israel had a per capita gross domestic product of about $31,000 in 2011, while the West Bank and Gaza had a per capita GDP of just over $1,500, according to the World Bank.

Standing on Israeli soil for the first time as the GOTP’s presumptive presidential nominee, Willard declared Jerusalem to be the capital of the Jewish state and said the United States has promised never to “look away from our passion and commitment to Israel.”

Romney’s campaign says his trip abroad, which began with his sophomoric missteps in England, was supposed to improve his foreign policy experience through a series of meetings with foreign leaders; instead it’s been a very clear demonstration of how completely unprepared Willard is to assume the role as America’s President.

Obama releases $70 million for Israel before Romney trip

President Barack Obama seems to have trumped Republican Tea Party (GOTP) presidential wannabe Willard Mitt Romney by announcing he’s releasing an additional $70 million in military aid for Israel the day before Willard traveled to Israel on the second leg of his so-called international trip.

But it can’t possibly be a big deal for Romney since he’s already said he’d do the opposite of everything the President’s done for Israel. So, logically one can assume Willard wouldn’t have given any additional monies.

The stepped-up U.S. aid, first announced in May, will go to help Israel expand production of a short-range rocket defense system known as “Iron Dome”, which has proved successful at stopping rocket attacks fired at Israeli civilians from close range, including from Gaza. The President announced the new military assistance as he signed a bill in the Oval Office expanding military and civilian cooperation with Israel.

The President said the bill underscores the United States’ “unshakable commitment to Israel.”
